Og Moses gikk og talte disse ordene til hele Israel.

And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.

Og han sa til dem: Jeg er hundre og tjue år gammel i dag; jeg kan ikke lenger gå ut og inn. Herren har sagt til meg: Du skal ikke gå over denne Jordan.

And he said unto them, I am a hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: and Jehovah hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

Herren din Gud vil gå foran deg; han vil ødelegge disse nasjonene foran deg, og du skal drive dem ut. Josva skal gå over foran deg, slik Herren har sagt.

Jehovah thy God, he will go over before thee; he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt dispossess them: `and' Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as Jehovah hath spoken.

Og Herren vil gjøre med dem som han gjorde med Sihon og Og, amorittenes konger, og med deres land, som han ødela.

And Jehovah will do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, the kings of the Amorites, and unto their land; whom he destroyed.

Og Herren vil gi dem over til dere, og dere skal gjøre med dem i henhold til alt det budet jeg har gitt dere.

And Jehovah will deliver them up before you, and ye shall do unto them according unto all the commandment which I have commanded you.

Vær sterke og modige, frykt ikke og bli ikke skremt av dem; for Herren din Gud er med deg. Han vil ikke svikte deg eller forlate deg.

Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be affrighted at them: for Jehovah thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Og Moses kalte på Josva og sa til ham foran hele Israel: Vær sterk og modig, for du skal gå med dette folket inn i det landet som Herren har sverget å gi deres fedre, og du skal gi dem det som arv.

And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of good courage: for thou shalt go with this people into the land which Jehovah hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

Og Herren, det er han som går foran deg; han vil være med deg. Han vil ikke svikte deg eller forlate deg. Frykt ikke og bli ikke motløs.

And Jehovah, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Og Moses skrev ned denne loven og overlot den til prestene, Levi-sønnene, som bar Herrens paktsark, og til alle Israels eldste.

And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and unto all the elders of Israel.

Og Moses befalte dem og sa: Ved slutten av hvert sjuende år, til den fastsatte tiden for ettergivelsesåret, under løvhyttefesten,

And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of `every' seven years, in the set time of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

når hele Israel kommer for å tre frem for Herren din Gud på det stedet han velger, da skal du lese denne loven for hele Israel, så de hører det.

when all Israel is come to appear before Jehovah thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

Samle folket, mennene, kvinnene, barna og innflytterne som er innenfor portene dine, slik at de kan høre og lære å frykte Herren deres Gud, og følge alle ordene i denne loven.

Assemble the people, the men and the women and the little ones, and thy sojourner that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear Jehovah your God, and observe to do all the words of this law;

Og deres barn som ikke kjenner loven, skal høre og lære å frykte Herren deres Gud, så lenge dere lever i det landet hvor dere går over Jordan for å erobre det.

and that their children, who have not known, may hear, and learn to fear Jehovah your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over the Jordan to possess it.

Og Herren sa til Moses: Se, dine dager nærmer seg når du skal dø. Kall på Josva, og still dere frem i møtehallen, så vil jeg gi ham instruksjoner. Og Moses og Josva gikk og stilte seg frem i møtehallen.

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tent of meeting, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tent of meeting.

Og Herren viste seg i hallen i en skystøtte, og skystøtten sto ved inngangen til hallen.

And Jehovah appeared in the Tent in a pillar of cloud: and the pillar of cloud stood over the door of the Tent.

Og Herren sa til Moses: Se, du skal sove hos dine fedre. Dette folket vil stå opp og gå hore etter de fremmede gudene i landet der de går for å være blant dem, og de vil forlate meg og bryte min pakt som jeg har laget med dem.

And Jehovah said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and play the harlot after the strange gods of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

Da skal min vrede flammes opp mot dem den dagen, og jeg vil forlate dem og skjule mitt ansikt for dem, og de skal bli fortært, og mange ulykker og trengsler skal ramme dem. Da skal de si den dagen: Er ikke disse ulykkene kommet over oss fordi vår Gud ikke er blant oss?

Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall come upon them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us because our God is not among us?

Og jeg vil helt sikkert skjule mitt ansikt den dagen på grunn av alt det onde de har gjort, ved å vende seg til andre guder.

And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evil which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.

Skriv derfor ned denne sangen for dere, og lær Israels barn den. Legg den i deres munn, så denne sangen kan være et vitnesbyrd for meg mot Israels barn.

Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach thou it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

For når jeg har ført dem til det landet som jeg sverget til deres fedre, som flyter av melk og honning, og de har spist og blitt mette og fete, da vil de vende seg til andre guder og tjene dem og forakte meg og bryte min pakt.

For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, flowing with milk and honey, and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxed fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and despise me, and break my covenant.

Og det skal skje når mange ulykker og trengsler kommer over dem, at denne sangen skal vitne for dem, for den skal ikke bli glemt fra deres etterkommers munn. For jeg kjenner deres tanker og hva de har planlagt i dag, før jeg har ført dem inn i det landet som jeg har sverget.

And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are come upon them, that this song shall testify before them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they frame this day, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.

Så Moses skrev ned denne sangen samme dag, og lærte den Israels barn.

So Moses wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.

Og han ga Josva, Nuns sønn, en befaling og sa: Vær sterk og modig, for du skal føre Israels barn inn i det landet som jeg har sverget å gi dem, og jeg vil være med deg.

And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of good courage; for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.

Og da Moses hadde fullført nedskrivningen av ordene i denne loven i en bok, til de var ferdige,

And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,

befalte Moses levittene, som bar Herrens paktsark, og sa:

that Moses commanded the Levites, that bare the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, saying,

Ta denne lovens bok og legg den ved siden av Herrens paktsark, deres Gud, så den kan være et vitnesbyrd mot dere.

Take this book of the law, and put it by the side of the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

For jeg kjenner deres opprør og deres stahet. Se, mens jeg ennå lever blant dere i dag, har dere vært opprørske mot Herren; hvor mye mer da etter min død?

For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against Jehovah; and how much more after my death?

Samle til meg alle lederne for stammene deres og deres offiserer, så jeg kan tale disse ordene i deres ører, og kalle himmelen og jorden til vitne mot dem.

Assemble unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to witness against them.

For jeg vet at etter min død vil dere helt forderve dere selv og vende dere bort fra den veien jeg har befalt dere, og ondt skal ramme dere i de sidste dager fordi dere gjør det onde i Herrens øyne og egger ham til vrede ved deres henders verk.

For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do that which is evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

Og Moses talte, så alle Israels forsamling hørte ordene i denne sangen, til de var ferdige.

And Moses spake in the ears of all the assembly of Israel the words of this song, until they were finished.
