Så dro Moses fra Moabs sletter opp på Nebo-fjellet, til toppen av Pisga, som ligger rett overfor Jeriko. Og Herren viste ham hele landet Gilead, helt til Dan,

And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And Jehovah showed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,

og hele Naftali, og Efraims og Manasses land, og hele Judas land, til havet i vest,

and all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the hinder sea,

og Sørlandet, og Jordan-dalen ved Jeriko, palmebyen, helt til Soar.

and the South, and the Plain of the valley of Jericho the city of palm-trees, unto Zoar.

Og Herren sa til ham: Dette er landet som jeg med ed lovte Abraham, Isak og Jakob, da jeg sa: Jeg vil gi det til din ætt; jeg har latt deg se det med dine egne øyne, men du skal ikke gå over dit.

And Jehovah said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

Så døde Moses, Herrens tjener, der i Moabs land etter Herrens ord.

So Moses the servant of Jehovah died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of Jehovah.

Og Han begravde ham i dalen i Moabs land, rett overfor Bet-Peor; men ingen kjenner hans gravsted til denne dag.

And he buried him in the valley in the land of Moab over against Beth-peor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

Moses var hundre og tjue år gammel da han døde; hans øyne var ikke blitt svake, og hans kraft var ikke avtatt.

And Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

Og Israels barn gråt for Moses på Moabs sletter i tretti dager; så endte dagene med gråt og sorg over Moses.

And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping in the mourning for Moses were ended.

Og Josva, Nuns sønn, var full av visdoms ånd; for Moses hadde lagt sine hender på ham, og Israels barn lystret ham og gjorde som Herren hadde befalt Moses.

And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as Jehovah commanded Moses.

Det har ikke stått fram noen profet i Israel som Moses, som Herren kjente ansikt til ansikt,

And there hath not arisen a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom Jehovah knew face to face,

i alle de tegn og under som Herren sendte ham til å gjøre i landet Egypt, til Farao og til alle hans tjenere og hele hans land,

in all the signs and the wonders, which Jehovah sent him to do in the land of Egypt, to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,

og i hele den kraftige handling og de store skrekkopplevelsene som Moses utførte for hele Israels øyne.

and in all the mighty hand, and in all the great terror, which Moses wrought in the sight of all Israel.
