1 Herren talte igjen til meg og sa:

Again the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

2 Menneskesønn, la Jerusalem få vite om sine avskyeligheter.

Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations;

3 Si: Så sier Herren Jehova til Jerusalem: Ditt opphav og din fødsel er fra kanaanittenes land. Din far var en amoritt, og din mor var en hittitt.

and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto Jerusalem: Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of the Canaanite; the Amorite was thy father, and thy mother was a Hittite.

4 Når det gjelder din fødsel, ble ikke navlestrengen skåret da du ble født, du ble ikke vasket i vann for å bli ren, du ble verken saltet eller svøpt.

And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to cleanse thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.

5 Ingen lot blikket fylles av medynk for å gjøre noe slikt for deg. Du ble kastet ut på marken, fordi man hadde avsky for din person, den dagen du ble født.

No eye pitied thee, to do any of these things unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, for that thy person was abhorred, in the day that thou wast born.

6 Da jeg gikk forbi deg og så deg ligge i ditt blod, sa jeg til deg: Lev – selv om du er i ditt blod. Ja, jeg sa til deg: Lev – selv om du er i ditt blod.

And when I passed by thee, and saw thee weltering in thy blood, I said unto thee, `Though thou art' in thy blood, live; yea, I said unto thee, `Though thou art' in thy blood, live.

7 Jeg lot deg formere deg som det som vokser på marken, og du vokste og ble stor. Du utviklet deg til å bli vakker, brystene dine ble formet, og ditt hår vokste, men du var naken og bar.

I caused thee to multiply as that which groweth in the field, and thou didst increase and wax great, and thou attainedst to excellent ornament; thy breasts were fashioned, and thy hair was grown; yet thou wast naked and bare.

8 Da jeg igjen gikk forbi deg og så på deg, var tiden kommet for kjærlighet. Jeg bredte kappen min over deg og dekket din nakenhet. Jeg sverget til deg og inngikk en pakt med deg, sier Herren Jehova, og du ble min.

Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord Jehovah, and thou becamest mine.

9 Jeg vasket deg med vann, jeg skylte bort ditt blod og salvet deg med olje.

Then washed I thee with water; yea, I thoroughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil.

10 Jeg kledde deg i brodert tøy, satte sko av selhud på deg, omgjordet deg med fint lin og dekket deg med silke.

I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with sealskin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and covered thee with silk.

11 Jeg pyntet deg med smykker, satte armbånd på dine hender og en kjede om din hals.

And I decked thee with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.

12 Jeg satte en ring i din nese, øreringer i dine ører og en vakker krone på ditt hode.

And I put a ring upon thy nose, and ear-rings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thy head.

13 Slik var du pyntet med gull og sølv, og ditt antrekk var fint lin og silke, og brodert arbeid. Du spiste fint mel, honning og olje. Du ble svært vakker og utviklet deg til kongelig status.

Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil; and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper unto royal estate.

14 Ditt rykte spredte seg blant nasjonene på grunn av din skjønnhet, for den var fullkommen på grunn av herligheten jeg hadde gitt deg, sier Herren Jehova.

And thy renown went forth among the nations for thy beauty; for it was perfect, through my majesty which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.

15 Men du stolte på din skjønnhet og drev hor på grunn av ditt rykte, og du kastet ditt horeliv til dem som kom forbi – hans det var.

But thou didst trust in thy beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy whoredoms on every one that passed by; his it was.

16 Du tok av dine klær og laget deg høye steder prydet med forskjellige farger og drev hor på dem. Slikt som dette har ikke funnet sted, og skal heller ikke hende.

And thou didst take of thy garments, and madest for thee high places decked with divers colors, and playedst the harlot upon them: `the like things' shall not come, neither shall it be `so'.

17 Du tok dine vakre smykker av mitt gull og sølv som jeg hadde gitt deg, og laget deg mannsskikkelser for å drive hor med dem.

Thou didst also take thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest for thee images of men, and didst play the harlot with them;

18 Du tok dine broderte klær og dekket dem. Mitt olje og min røkelse satte du fram for dem.

and thou tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them, and didst set mine oil and mine incense before them.

19 Mitt brød, som jeg hadde gitt deg, fint mel og olje og honning, som jeg hadde latt deg spise, satte du fram for dem som en velduft; slik ble det, sier Herren Jehova.

My bread also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou didst even set it before them for a sweet savor; and `thus' it was, saith the Lord Jehovah.

20 Du tok også dine sønner og dine døtre, som du hadde født meg, og ofret dem til dem til å fortæres. Er dine horeliv en liten sak,

Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Were thy whoredoms a small matter,

21 siden du har drept mine barn og ofret dem til dem gjennom ilden?

that thou hast slain my children, and delivered them up, in causing them to pass through `the fire' unto them?

22 I alle dine avskyeligheter og ditt hor har du ikke husket din ungdoms dager, da du var naken og bar og lå vellet i ditt blod.

And in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked and bare, and wast weltering in thy blood.

23 Etter all din ondskap – ve, ve over deg! sier Herren Jehova –

And it is come to pass after all thy wickedness, (woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord Jehovah,)

24 bygde du deg hvelvede steder og laget deg høye plasser på hver gate.

that thou hast built unto thee a vaulted place, and hast made thee a lofty place in every street.

25 På toppen av hver vei bygde du dine steder og gjorde din skjønnhet til en avsky, du spredte bena for alle som gikk forbi, og gjorde dine horegreier mange.

Thou hast built thy lofty place at the head of every way, and hast made thy beauty an abomination, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredom.

26 Du drev også utukt med egypterne, dine grensestore naboer, og mangfoldiggjorde ditt horeliv for å provosere meg til vrede.

Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians, thy neighbors, great of flesh; and hast multiplied thy whoredom, to provoke me to anger.

27 Se, derfor har jeg strukket ut min hånd over deg og redusert din tilsiktede rettighet, jeg har overgitt deg til dem som hater deg, filisters døtre, som skammer seg over din uanstendige vei.

Behold therefore, I have stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary `food', and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, that are ashamed of thy lewd way.

28 Du drev også hor med assyrerne, fordi du ikke var til å tilfredsstille. Ja, du drev hor med dem og ble ikke tilfredsstilt.

Thou hast played the harlot also with the Assyrians, because thou wast insatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet thou wast not satisfied.

29 Du gjorde også ditt horeliv stort til Kaldeas land, handelslandet, og likevel ble du ikke tilfredsstilt med dette.

Thou hast moreover multiplied thy whoredom unto the land of traffic, unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.

30 Hvor svak er ditt hjerte, sier Herren Jehova, som gjør alt dette, en frekk hores gjerninger!

How weak is thy heart, saith the Lord Jehovah, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an impudent harlot;

31 Da du bygde ditt hvelvede sted på toppen av alle veier og laget deg dine høye steder på hver gate – og enda ikke opptrådte som en hore, siden du foraktet betaling –

in that thou buildest thy vaulted place at the head of every way, and makest thy lofty place in every street, and hast not been as a harlot, in that thou scornest hire.

32 en kone som bryter ekteskapet, som tar fremmede i stedet for hennes ektemann!

A wife that committeth adultery! that taketh strangers instead of her husband!

33 De gir gaver til alle horer, men du ga dine gaver til alle dine elskere og bestakk dem til å komme til deg fra alle kanter for ditt horeliv.

They give gifts to all harlots; but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and bribest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredoms.

34 Og du er annerledes enn andre kvinner i ditt horeliv, ettersom ingen følger deg til å drive hor, og selv om du gir lønn, og ingen lønn blir gitt til deg, derfor er du annerledes.

And thou art different from `other' women in thy whoredoms, in that none followeth thee to play the harlot; and whereas thou givest hire, and no hire is given unto thee, therefore thou art different.

35 Derfor, du hore, hør Herrens ord.

Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of Jehovah:

36 Så sier Herren Jehova: Fordi din skittenhet ble utøst, og din nakenhet ble avdekket gjennom ditt horeliv med dine elskere, og på grunn av alle dine avskylige avguder og blodet av dine barn som du ga dem,

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness uncovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers; and because of all the idols of thy abominations, and for the blood of thy children, that thou didst give unto them;

37 derfor, se, jeg vil samle alle dine elskere, som du har hatt glede av, og alle dem som du har elsket, sammen med alle dem som du har hatet. Jeg vil samle dem mot deg fra alle kanter og avsløre din nakenhet for dem, for at de skal se alle dine nakenheter.

therefore behold, I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them against thee on every side, and will uncover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.

38 Og jeg vil dømme deg som kvinner som begår ekteskapsbrudd og utgyder blod blir dømt. Jeg vil bringe på deg blodets vrede og sjalusi.

And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring upon thee the blood of wrath and jealousy.

39 Jeg vil også overgi deg til deres hender, og de vil rive ned ditt hvelvede sted og bryte ned dine høye steder. De vil ta dine klær og dine vakre smykker, og de vil etterlate deg naken og bar.

I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thy vaulted place, and break down thy lofty places; and they shall strip thee of thy clothes, and take thy fair jewels; and they shall leave thee naked and bare.

40 De vil også føre et oppbud mot deg, steine deg med steiner og stikke deg med sine sverd.

They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords.

41 De skal brenne dine hus med ild og utføre dommer over deg i nærvær av mange kvinner. Jeg vil stoppe deg fra å drive hor, og du skal ikke lenger gi hyrer.

And they shall burn thy houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women; and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou shalt also give no hire any more.

42 Da skal jeg få min vrede mot deg til å hvile, og min sjalusi skal vike fra deg. Jeg vil være rolig og ikke mer vred.

So will I cause my wrath toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.

43 Fordi du ikke husket de dager i din ungdom, men provoserte meg med alle disse tingene, se, derfor vil jeg også la din vei komme over ditt eget hode, sier Herren Jehova. Du skal ikke utføre denne uanstendigheten med alle dine avskyeligheter.

Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast raged against me in all these things; therefore, behold, I also will bring thy way upon thy head, saith the Lord Jehovah: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness with all thine abominations.

44 Se, alle som bruker ordspråk vil bruke dette ordspråket om deg: Som mor, så datter.

Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use `this' proverb against thee, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter.

45 Du er din mors datter, som skyr sin ektemann og sine barn, og du er din søsters søster, som skyter samtlige sine ektemenn og sine barn: Din mor var en hittitt, og din far var en amoritt.

Thou art the daughter of thy mother, that loatheth her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children: your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

46 Din eldre søster er Samaria, som bor ved din venstre hånd, hun og hennes døtre; og din yngre søster, som bor ved din høyre hånd, er Sodoma og hennes døtre.

And thine elder sister is Samaria, that dwelleth at thy left hand, she and her daughters; and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.

47 Men du har ikke vandret på deres veier, ei heller gjort etter deres avskyeligheter, men som om det var en liten sak, var du mer korrupt enn dem i alle dine veier.

Yet hast thou not walked in their ways, nor done after their abominations; but, as `if that were' a very little `thing', thou wast more corrupt than they in all thy ways.

48 Så sant jeg lever, sier Herren Jehova: Sodoma, din søster, hun og hennes døtre har ikke gjort slik som du og dine døtre har gjort.

As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.

49 Se, dette var din søster Sodomas synd: Stolthet, overflod av brød og bekymringsløs letthet var i henne og hennes døtre, og hun styrket ikke de fattiges og trengendes hånd.

Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

50 De var hovmodige og gjorde avskyeligheter for meg, derfor gjorde jeg av med dem som jeg så passende.

And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw `good'.

51 Heller ikke Samaria har begått halvparten av dine synder, men du har multiplisert dine avskyeligheter mer enn dem, og har rettferdiggjort dine søstre ved alle de avskyeligheter du har gjort.

Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters by all thine abominations which thou hast done.

52 Du skal også bære din egen skam, fordi du har dømt dine søstre. På grunn av dine synder som du har gjort, har vært mer avskyelige enn dem, de er mer rettferdige enn du. Ja, vær også du til skamme og bær din skam, fordi du har gjort dine søstre rettferdige.

Thou also, bear thou thine own shame, in that thou hast given judgment for thy sisters; through thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they, they are more righteous that thou: yea, be thou also confounded, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.

53 Jeg vil også vende deres fangenskap, fangenskapet til Sodoma og hennes døtre, og fangenskapet til Samaria og hennes døtre, og fangenskapet til dine fanger midt iblant dem.

And I will turn again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them;

54 Da skal du bære din egen skam og være til skamme for alt det du har gjort, når du er en trøst for dem.

that thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be ashamed because of all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them.

55 Dine søstre, Sodoma og hennes døtre, skal vende tilbake til deres tidligere tilstand, og Samaria og hennes døtre skal vende tilbake til deres tidligere tilstand, og du og dine døtre skal vende tilbake til deres tidligere tilstand.

And thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate; and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate; and thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate.

56 For din søster Sodoma ble ikke nevnt av deg i din stolthetstid,

For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride,

57 før din ondskap ble avdekket, som på den tid da Syria-døtrene og alle rundt henne hånte deg, filisterdøtrene, som foraktet deg runt omkring.

before thy wickedness was uncovered, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, that do despite unto thee round about.

58 Du har båret din lettsindighet og dine avskyeligheter, sier Jehova.

Thou hast borne thy lewdness and thine abominations, saith Jehovah.

59 For så sier Herren Jehova: Jeg vil også lære deg som du har gjort, du som har foraktet eden ved å bryte pakten.

For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also deal with thee as thou hast done, who hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant.

60 Likevel vil jeg huske min pakt med deg i din ungdoms dager, og jeg vil opprette en evig pakt med deg.

Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.

61 Da skal du huske dine veier og skamme deg, når du mottar dine søstre, både de eldre og yngre, til døtre, men ikke på grunn av din egen pakt.

Then shalt thou remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder `sisters' and thy younger; and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.

62 Og jeg vil opprette min pakt med deg, og du skal kjenne at jeg er Jehova,

And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah;

63 for at du kan huske, og stå skamfull, og aldri mer åpne din munn på grunn av din skam, når jeg har tilgitt deg alt det du har gjort, sier Herren Jehova.

that thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more, because of thy shame, when I have forgiven thee all that thou hast done, saith the Lord Jehovah.
