1 Herrens ord kom til meg:

And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

2 Menneskesønn, vend ansiktet mot ammonittene og profeter mot dem:

Son of man, set thy face toward the children of Ammon, and prophesy against them:

3 Og si til ammonittene: Hør Herrens ord: Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi du sa: Ha! mot mitt helligdom da det ble vanhelliget, og mot Israels land da det ble øde, og mot Judas hus da de gikk i fangenskap;

and say unto the children of Ammon, Hear the word of the Lord Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Because thou saidst, Aha, against my sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was made desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity:

4 derfor, se, jeg vil overgi deg til folket fra øst som eiendom, og de skal slå leir i ditt land og bo i dine byer. De skal spise din frukt og drikke din melk.

therefore, behold, I will deliver thee to the children of the east for a possession, and they shall set their encampments in thee, and make their dwellings in thee; they shall eat thy fruit, and they shall drink thy milk.

5 Jeg vil gjøre Rabbah til en hvilested for kameler og ammonittene til et hvilested for småfe, og dere skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the children of Ammon a couching-place for flocks: and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

6 For så sier Herren Gud: Fordi du klappet hendene og trampet med føttene og gledet deg i hat mot Israels land;

For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast clapped thy hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced with all the despite of thy soul against the land of Israel;

7 derfor, se, jeg har rakt ut min hånd mot deg og vil overgi deg som bytte til nasjonene. Jeg vil utrydde deg blant folkene og tilintetgjøre deg fra landene. Jeg vil ødelegge deg, og du skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

therefore, behold, I have stretched out my hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the nations; and I will cut thee off from the peoples, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah.

8 Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi Moab og Seir har sagt: Se, Judas hus er som alle andre folk,

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because that Moab and Seir do say, Behold, the house of Judah is like unto all the nations;

9 derfor, se, jeg skal åpne Moabs side fra byene, fra hans byer som ligger ved grensen, landets herlighet, Bet-Jesimot, Baal-Meon og Kirjataim,

therefore, behold, I will open the side of Moab from the cities, from his cities which are on his frontiers, the glory of the country, Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim,

10 til folket fra øst som skal gå mot ammonittene, og jeg vil gi dem som eiendom, slik at ammonittene ikke blir nevnt blant nasjonene.

unto the children of the east, `to go' against the children of Ammon; and I will give them for a possession, that the children of Ammon may not be remembered among the nations.

11 Og jeg vil utøve dommer over Moab, og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

and I will execute judgments upon Moab; and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

12 Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi Edom har handlet hevngjerrig mot Judas hus og kraftig krenket dem for å hevne seg på dem;

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them;

13 derfor sier Herren Gud: Jeg vil rekke ut min hånd mot Edom og utrydde både mennesker og dyr derfra, og jeg vil gjøre det øde fra Teman, helt til Dedan skal de falle for sverdet.

therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah, I will stretch out my hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; even unto Dedan shall they fall by the sword.

14 Jeg vil legge min hevn over Edom ved mitt folk Israel, og de skal handle i Edom etter min vrede og min harme. Så skal de kjenne min hevn, sier Herren Gud.

And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel; and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my wrath; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord Jehovah.

15 Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi filistrene har handlet i hevn og har tatt hevn med hat i sjelen for å ødelegge i fiendskap;

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with despite of soul to destroy with perpetual enmity;

16 derfor sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg vil rekke ut min hånd mot filistrene og utrydde keretittene og ødelegge resten av kystlandet.

therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Behold, I will stretch out my hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethites, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.

17 Jeg vil utøve stor hevn over dem med straffende vrede, og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren når jeg legger min hevn over dem.

And I will execute great vengeance upon them with wrathful rebukes; and they shall know that I am Jehovah, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.
