Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

2 Han gjorde det som var ondt i Herrens øyne, slik alt det Jojakim hadde gjort.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.

3 På grunn av Herrens vrede skjedde det i Jerusalem og Juda, inntil han kastet dem ut fra sitt åsyn. Og Sidkia gjorde opprør mot kongen i Babylon.

For through the anger of Jehovah did it come to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence. And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

4 I det niende året av hans regjering, i den tiende måneden, på den tiende dagen i måneden, kom Nebukadnesar, kongen av Babylon, han og hele hans hær, mot Jerusalem og beleiret det; og de bygde befestninger rundt omkring det.

And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came, he and all his army, against Jerusalem, and encamped against it; and they built forts against it round about.

5 Så ble byen beleiret til det ellevte året av kong Sidkia.

So the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.

6 I den fjerde måneden, på den niende dagen i måneden, ble hungersnøden sterk i byen, slik at det ikke var brød til folkene i landet.

In the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month, the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.

7 Da ble det gjort en åpning i byen, og alle krigsmennene flyktet og gikk ut av byen om natten gjennom porten mellom de to murene, som lå ved kongens hage, mens kaldeerne var rundt byen; og de dro mot Araba.

Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden; (now the Chaldeans were against the city round about;) and they went toward the Arabah.

8 Men kaldeernes hær forfulgte kongen, og de tok Sidkia igjen på slettene ved Jeriko; og hele hans hær ble spredt fra ham.

But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him.

9 Deretter tok de kongen og førte ham opp til kongen av Babylon i Ribla i landet Hamat, og der avsa han sin dom over ham.

Then they took the king, and carried him up unto the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; and he gave judgment upon him.

10 Kongen av Babylon drepte Sidkias sønner foran øynene hans; han drepte også alle Judas fyrster i Ribla.

And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes: he slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah.

11 Han stakk ut øynene på Sidkia, bandt ham med lenker, førte ham til Babylon og satte ham i fengsel til dagen han døde.

And he put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in fetters, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.

12 I den femte måneden, på den tiende dagen i måneden, som var det nittende året av kong Nebukadnesar, kom Nebuzaradan, kommandanten for livvakten, som sto foran kongen av Babylon, til Jerusalem.

Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard, who stood before the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem:

13 Han brente Herrens hus og kongens hus, og alle Jerusalems hus, ja, hvert stort hus brente han med ild.

and he burned the house of Jehovah, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, even every great house, burned he with fire.

14 Og hele kaldeerhæren, som var med kommandanten for livvakten, rev ned alle murene rundt Jerusalem.

And all the army of the Chaldeans, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down all the walls of Jerusalem round about.

15 Da førte Nebuzaradan, kommandanten for livvakten, bort som fanger de fattigste av folket, resten av folket som var igjen i byen, og de som hadde falt fra til kongen av Babylon, og resten av mengden.

Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the poorest of the people, and the residue of the people that were left in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the residue of the multitude.

16 Men Nebuzaradan, kommandanten for livvakten, lot noen av de fattigste i landet bli igjen som vinbønder og landbrukere.

But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left of the poorest of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.

And the pillars of brass that were in the house of Jehovah, and the bases and the brazen sea that were in the house of Jehovah, did the Chaldeans break in pieces, and carried all the brass of them to Babylon.

18 Også grytene, spadene, saksene, bollene, skjeene og alle bronsens kar som de tjenestegjorde med, tok de bort.

The pots also, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the basins, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass wherewith they ministered, took they away.

19 Pokalene, bålpannene, skålene, grytene, lysestakene, skjeene og skålene – det som var av gull i gull og det som var av sølv i sølv – tok kommandanten for livvakten bort.

And the cups, and the firepans, and the basins, and the pots, and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the bowls-that which was of gold, in gold, and that which was of silver, in silver,- the captain of the guard took away.

20 De to søylene, det ene havet, og de tolv bronseoksene som var under soklene, som kong Salomo hadde gjort for Herrens hus, vekten av bronsen i alle disse gjenstandene kunne ikke beregnes.

The two pillars, the one sea, and the twelve brazen bulls that were under the bases, which king Solomon had made for the house of Jehovah-the brass of all these vessels was without weight.

21 Når det gjelder søylene, var høyden på én søyle atten alen; en snor på tolv alen omsluttet den, og dens tykkelse var fire fingre: den var hul.

And as for the pillars, the height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits; and a line of twelve cubits did compass it; and the thickness thereof was four fingers: it was hollow.

22 På toppen av søylen var det en kobberkapitel; høyden på kapitelen var fem alen, med et nettverk og granatepler på kapitelen rundt omkring, alt av kobber; også den andre søylen med granatepler var lik.

And a capital of brass was upon it; and the height of the one capital was five cubits, with network and pomegranates upon the capital round about, all of brass: and the second pillar also had like unto these, and pomegranates.

23 Og det var nittiseks granatepler på sidene; i alt var det hundre granatepler på nettverket rundt omkring.

And there were ninety and six pomegranates on the sides; all the pomegranates were a hundred upon the network round about.

24 Kommandanten for livvakten tok Seraia, øverstepresten, og Sefanja, den andre presten, og de tre vokterne ved dørtreskelen.

And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold:

and out of the city he took an officer that was set over the men of war; and seven men of them that saw the king's face, that were found in the city; and the scribe of the captain of the host, who mustered the people of the land; and threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city.

26 Nebuzaradan, kommandanten for livvakten, tok dem og førte dem til kongen av Babylon i Ribla.

And Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.

27 Kongen av Babylon slo dem og drepte dem i Ribla i landet Hamat. Så ble Juda bortført fra sitt land.

And the king of Babylon smote them, and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his land.

28 Dette er folket som Nebukadnesar førte bort som fanger: i det syvende året, tre tusen tjueen jøder;

This is the people whom Nebuchadrezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year three thousand Jews and three and twenty;

29 i det attende året av Nebukadnesar, førte han bort som fanger fra Jerusalem åtte hundre og trettito personer;

in the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred thirty and two persons;

30 i det tre og tyvende året av Nebukadnesar, førte Nebuzaradan, kommandanten for livvakten, bort som fanger av jødene, syv hundre og førtifem personer: i alt fire tusen seks hundre personer.

in the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred forty and five persons: all the persons were four thousand and six hundred.

31 I det syv og trettiende året av fangenskapet til Jojakin, kongen av Juda, i den tolvte måneden, på den femogtyvende dagen i måneden, løftet Evil-merodak, kongen av Babylon i sitt første regjeringsår, opp hodet til Jojakin, kongen av Juda, og førte ham ut av fengselet.

And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon, in the `first' year of his reign, lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison;

32 Han talte vennlig til ham og satte hans trone over tronene til de andre kongene som var hos ham i Babylon.

and he spake kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon,

and changed his prison garments. And `Jehoiachin' did eat bread before him continually all the days of his life:

and for his allowance, there was a continual allowance given him by the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
