1 Og Herren talte til Moses og sa,

And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Tal til Aron og si til ham: Når du tenner lampene, skal de sju lampene lyse foran lysestaken.

Speak unto Aaron, and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the candlestick.

3 Og Aron gjorde slik; han tente lampene slik at de lyste foran lysestaken, som Herren hadde befalt Moses.

And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof `so as to give light' in front of the candlestick, as Jehovah commanded Moses.

4 Dette var lysestakens arbeid: et utsmidd arbeid av gull. Fra foten til blomstene var det utsmidd arbeid; etter mønsteret som Herren hadde vist Moses, slik laget han lysestaken.

And this was the work of the candlestick, beaten work of gold; unto the base thereof, `and' unto the flowers thereof, it was beaten work: according unto the pattern which Jehovah had showed Moses, so he made the candlestick.

5 Og Herren talte til Moses og sa,

And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

6 Ta levittene fra blant Israels barn og rens dem.

Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.

7 Og slik skal du gjøre med dem for å rense dem: Stenk renselsesvann på dem, og la dem barbere hele kroppen, og la dem vaske klærne sine og rense seg.

And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: sprinkle the water of expiation upon them, and let them cause a razor to pass over all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and cleanse themselves.

8 La dem så ta en ung okse med tilhørende matoffer, fint mel blandet med olje; og du skal ta en annen ung okse til syndoffer.

Then let them take a young bullock, and its meal-offering, fine flour mingled with oil; and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin-offering.

9 Du skal stille levittene fram foran møte teltet, og du skal samle hele menigheten av Israels barn.

And thou shalt present the Levites before the tent of meeting: and thou shalt assemble the whole congregation of the children of Israel:

10 Så skal du stille levittene framfor Herren. Og Israels barn skal legge sine hender på levittene.

and thou shalt present the Levites before Jehovah. And the children of Israel shall lay their hands upon the Levites:

11 Og Aron skal framstille levittene for Herren som et svingoffer fra Israels barn, for at de skal gjøre tjeneste for Herren.

and Aaron shall offer the Levites before Jehovah for a wave-offering, on the behalf of the children of Israel, that it may be theirs to do the service of Jehovah.

12 Og levittene skal legge sine hender på hodet til oksene, og du skal ofre den ene som syndoffer og den andre som brennoffer til Herren, for å gjøre soning for levittene.

And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and offer thou the one for a sin-offering, and the other for a burnt-offering, unto Jehovah, to make atonement for the Levites.

13 Så skal du stille levittene foran Aron og sønnene hans, og framstille dem som et svingoffer til Herren.

And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for a wave-offering unto Jehovah.

14 Slik skal du skille levittene fra Israels barn, og levittene skal være mine.

Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel; and the Levites shall be mine.

15 Deretter skal levittene gå inn for å gjøre tjeneste i møte teltet: Du skal rense dem og framstille dem som et svingoffer.

And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tent of meeting: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for a wave-offering.

16 For de er helt gitt til meg fra blant Israels barn; i stedet for alle som åpner morslivet, alle førstefødte av Israels barn, har jeg tatt dem til meg.

For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of all that openeth the womb, even the first-born of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.

17 For alle førstefødte blant Israels barn er mine, både av mennesker og dyr: På den dagen jeg slo alle førstefødte i landet Egypt, helliget jeg dem for meg.

For all the first-born among the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote all the first-born in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.

18 Og jeg har tatt levittene i stedet for alle førstefødte blant Israels barn.

And I have taken the Levites instead of all the first-born among the children of Israel.

19 Og jeg har gitt levittene som en gave til Aron og sønnene hans fra blant Israels barn, for å utføre tjenesten for Israels barn i møte teltet, og for å gjøre soning for Israels barn, slik at det ikke skal være noen plage blant Israels barn når de kommer nær helligdommen.

And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tent of meeting, and to make atonement for the children of Israel; that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.

20 Slik gjorde Moses og Aron og hele menigheten av Israels barn med levittene; i samsvar med alt Herren hadde befalt Moses angående levittene, slik gjorde Israels barn med dem.

Thus did Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the Levites: according unto all that Jehovah commanded Moses touching the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.

21 Og levittene renset seg fra synd og vasket klærne sine. Og Aron framstilte dem som et svingoffer for Herren; og Aron gjorde soning for dem for å rense dem.

And the Levites purified themselves from sin, and they washed their clothes: and Aaron offered them for a wave-offering before Jehovah; and Aaron made atonement for them to cleanse them.

22 Deretter gikk levittene inn for å utføre deres tjeneste i møte teltet foran Aron og sønnene hans; som Herren hadde befalt Moses angående levittene, slik gjorde de med dem.

And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tent of meeting before Aaron, and before his sons: as Jehovah had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.

23 Og Herren talte til Moses og sa,

And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

24 Dette angår levittene: Fra tjuefem år og oppover skal de komme inn for å utføre tjenesten i møte teltets arbeid.

This is that which belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service in the work of the tent of meeting:

25 Og fra femti års alder skal de slutte å utføre arbeidet og ikke tjene mer,

and from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the work, and shall serve no more,

26 men skal assistere sine brødre i møte teltet, for å holde vaktholdet, men skal ikke utføre arbeid. Slik skal du gjøre med levittene angående deres oppgaver.

but shall minister with their brethren in the tent of meeting, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charges.
