1 Herrens ord om Israel. Så sier Herren, han som spenner ut himmelen, legger jordens grunnvoll, og danner menneskets ånd i ham:

The burden of the word of Jehovah concerning Israel. `Thus' saith Jehovah, who stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him:

2 Se, jeg vil gjøre Jerusalem til en tumlebolle for alle folkene rundt omkring, også over Juda skal det komme når Jerusalem blir beleiret.

behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of reeling unto all the peoples round about, and upon Judah also shall it be in the siege against Jerusalem.

3 Den dagen skal jeg gjøre Jerusalem til en tung byrde for alle folk. Alle som forsøker å løfte den skal bli hardt skadet, og alle jordens nasjoner skal samle seg mot den.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all the peoples; all that burden themselves with it shall be sore wounded; and all the nations of the earth shall be gathered together against it.

4 På den dagen, sier Herren, vil jeg slå hver hest med skrekk og rytteren med galskap. Jeg vil vende mine øyne mot Judas hus, og slå folkenes hester med blindhet.

In that day, saith Jehovah, I will smite every horse with terror, and his rider with madness; and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the peoples with blindness.

5 Da skal lederne i Juda si i sitt hjerte: Innbyggerne i Jerusalem er min styrke i Herren, hærskarenes Gud.

And the chieftains of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in Jehovah of hosts their God.

6 Den dagen vil jeg gjøre lederne i Juda som et ildfat blant ved og som en brennende fakkel blant kornbånd; de skal fortære alle folkene rundt omkring, på høyre og venstre side. Jerusalem skal igjen bo trygt på sitt sted, nemlig i Jerusalem.

In that day will I make the chieftains of Judah like a pan of fire among wood, and like a flaming torch among sheaves; and they shall devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left; and `they of' Jerusalem shall yet again dwell in their own place, even in Jerusalem.

7 Herren skal også redde Judas telt først, for at ikke Davids hus sin herlighet og innbyggerne i Jerusalem sin herlighet skal forherlige seg over Juda.

Jehovah also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem be not magnified above Judah.

8 På den dagen skal Herren beskytte Jerusalems innbyggere, og den svakeste blant dem på den dagen skal være som David, og Davids hus skal være som Gud, som Herrens engel foran dem.

In that day shall Jehovah defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of Jehovah before them.

9 Den dagen skal jeg søke å ødelegge alle nasjoner som kommer mot Jerusalem.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

10 Jeg vil utøse en nådens og bønnens ånd over Davids hus og Jerusalems innbyggere. De skal se opp til meg som de har gjennomstunget, og de skal sørge over ham som en sørger over en eneste sønn, og de skal være i bitterhet over ham som man er i bitterhet over sin førstefødte.

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look unto me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his first-born.

11 Den dagen skal det være en stor sorg i Jerusalem, som sorgen ved Hadadrimmon i Megiddons dal.

In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.

12 Hele landet skal sørge, hver slekt for seg; Davids hus slekt for seg, og deres kvinner for seg; Nathan slekt for seg, og deres kvinner for seg;

And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;

13 Levis slekt for seg, og deres kvinner for seg; Shimeis slekt for seg, og deres kvinner for seg;

the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of the Shimeites apart, and their wives apart;

14 Alle de gjenværende slektene, hver slekt for seg, og deres kvinner for seg.

all the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.
