1 Og han viste meg Josva, ypperstepresten, som sto foran Jehovas engel, og Satan sto ved hans høyre hånd for å være hans motstander.

And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of Jehovah, and Satan standing at his right hand to be his adversary.

2 Og Jehova sa til Satan: Jehova refser deg, Satan; ja, Jehova som har valgt ut Jerusalem, refser deg: er ikke dette en brann som er trukket ut av ilden?

And Jehovah said unto Satan, Jehovah rebuke thee, O Satan; yea, Jehovah that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

3 Nå var Josva kledd i skitne klær mens han sto foran engelen.

Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the angel.

4 Og han svarte og sa til dem som sto foran ham: Ta de skitne klærne av ham. Og til ham sa han: Se, jeg har tatt bort din misgjerning fra deg, og jeg vil kle deg i fine klær.

And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take the filthy garments from off him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with rich apparel.

5 Og jeg sa: Sett en ren turban på hans hode. Så satte de en ren turban på hans hode, og kledde ham i klær; og Jehovas engel sto ved siden av.

And I said, Let them set a clean mitre upon his head. So they set a clean mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments; and the angel of Jehovah was standing by.

6 Og Jehovas engel forsikret Josva og sa:

And the angel of Jehovah protested unto Joshua, saying,

7 Så sier hærskarenes Jehova: Hvis du vil vandre i mine veier, og hvis du vil bevare mitt budskap, skal du også dømme mitt hus, og også bevokte mine gårdsplasser, og jeg vil gi deg adgang blant disse som står her.

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou also shalt judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee a place of access among these that stand by.

8 Hør nå, Josva, ypperstepresten, du og dine medhjelpere som sitter foran deg; for de er menn som er et tegn: for se, jeg vil føre frem min tjener, Spiren.

Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou and thy fellows that sit before thee; for they are men that are a sign: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch.

9 For se, steinen som jeg har lagt foran Josva; på en stein er det syv øyne: se, jeg vil gravere inskripsjonen derpå, sier hærskarenes Jehova, og jeg vil fjerne misgjerningen i landet på én dag.

For, behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua; upon one stone are seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

10 På den dagen, sier hærskarenes Jehova, skal dere invitere hver mann sin nabo under vintreet og under fikentreet.

In that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, shall ye invite every man his neighbor under the vine and under the fig-tree.
