1 Judas synd er skrevet med et jernpenn, og med en skarp spiss av en smykkestein er det risset på deres steinhjerter og på hornene av deres altere som et tegn for dem:

The sin of Judah is recorded with a pen of iron, and with the sharp point of a jewel it is cut on their hearts of stone, and on the horns of their altars for a sign to them:

2 Deres altere og deres trestolper under hver løvrike gren, på de høye åsene og fjellene i marken.

Their altars and their wood pillars under every branching tree, on the high hills and the mountains in the field.

3 Jeg vil gi deres rikdom og alle deres skatter til å bli tatt bort i krig uten betaling, på grunn av deres synder i hele landet.

I will give your wealth and all your stores to be taken away in war without a price, because of your sins in every part of your land.

4 Og din hånd må gi slipp på din arv som jeg ga deg; og jeg vil gjøre deg til en tjener for dine fiender i et land som er fremmed for deg: for du har satt min vrede i brann med en flamme som vil brenne for evig.

And your hand will have to let go your heritage which I gave you; and I will make you a servant to your haters in a land which is strange to you: for you have put my wrath on fire with a flame which will go on burning for ever.

5 Dette er hva Herren har sagt: Forbannet er den mann som setter sin lit til mennesket, og gjør kjøtt til sin arm, og hvis hjerte er vendt bort fra Herren.

This is what the Lord has said: Cursed is the man who puts his faith in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart is turned away from the Lord.

6 For han vil være som buskas i høylandet og vil ikke se når det gode kommer; men hans bosted vil være de tørre stedene i ødemarken, i et salt og ubebodd land.

For he will be like the brushwood in the upland, and will not see when good comes; but his living-place will be in the dry places in the waste land, in a salt and unpeopled land.

7 Velsignet er den mann som setter sin lit til Herren, og hvis håp Herren er.

A blessing is on the man who puts his faith in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

8 For han vil være som et tre plantet ved vannene, som strekker sine røtter ut ved elven; han vil ikke frykte når varmen kommer, men hans løv vil være grønt; i et tørt år vil han ikke være bekymret, og han vil fortsette å bære frukt.

For he will be like a tree planted by the waters, pushing out its roots by the stream; he will have no fear when the heat comes, but his leaf will be green; in a dry year he will have no care, and will go on giving fruit.

9 Hjertet er en vridd ting, ikke mulig for mennesker å utforske: hvem kan forstå det?

The heart is a twisted thing, not to be searched out by man: who is able to have knowledge of it?

10 Jeg, Herren, er som gransker hjertet, som tester tankene, slik at jeg kan gi hver mann belønningen av hans veier, i samsvar med frukten av hans gjerninger.

I the Lord am the searcher of the heart, the tester of the thoughts, so that I may give to every man the reward of his ways, in keeping with the fruit of his doings.

11 Som rapphøna som samler egg, men ikke produserer unger, er en mann som får rikdom på urett måte; før halvparten av hans dager er over, vil det forlate ham, og ved hans ende vil han være en tåpe.

Like the partridge, getting eggs together but not producing young, is a man who gets wealth but not by right; before half his days are ended, it will go from him, and at his end he will be foolish.

12 En sete av herlighet, plassert høyt fra begynnelsen, er vårt hellige sted.

A seat of glory, placed on high from the first, is our holy place.

13 Herre, Israels håp, alle som gir deg opp vil bli satt til skamme; de som går bort fra deg vil bli kuttet av fra jorden, fordi de har gitt opp Herren, kilden til levende vann.

O Lord, the hope of Israel, all who give you up will be put to shame; those who go away from you will be cut off from the earth, because they have given up the Lord, the fountain of living waters.

14 Gjør meg frisk, Herre, så vil jeg bli frisk; vær min frelser, så vil jeg være trygg: for du er mitt håp.

Make me well, O Lord, and I will be well; be my saviour, and I will be safe: for you are my hope.

15 Se, de sier til meg, Hvor er Herrens ord? La det komme nå.

See, they say to me, Where is the word of the Lord? let it come now.

16 Hva angår meg, har jeg ikke sagt; La bedrøvelsens dag komme til dem raskt; og jeg har ikke håpet på dødens dag; du vet hva som kom fra mine lepper; det var åpent for deg.

As for me, I have not said; Let the day of trouble come to them quickly; and I have not been hoping for the death-giving day; you have knowledge of what came from my lips; it was open before you.

17 Vær ikke en årsak til frykt for meg: du er min trygge plass på den onde dag.

Be not a cause of fear to me: you are my safe place in the day of evil.

18 La dem bli satt til skamme som angriper meg, men la meg ikke bli skamfull; la dem bli overveldet av frykt, men la meg ikke bli overvunnet: send over dem den onde dag, og gi dem ødeleggelse dobbelt opp.

Let them be put to shame who are attacking me, but let me not be shamed; let them be overcome with fear, but let me not be overcome: send on them the day of evil, and put them to destruction twice over.

19 Dette er hva Herren har sagt til meg: Gå og ta din plass i Benjamins inngangsport, hvor Judas konger kommer inn og går ut, og ved alle inngangsportene i Jerusalem;

This is what the Lord has said to me: Go and take your place in the doorway of Benjamin, where the kings of Judah come in and by which they go out, and in all the doorways of Jerusalem;

20 Og si til dem, Lytt til Herrens ord, dere konger i Juda, og alle folket i Jerusalem som kommer inn ved disse dørene:

And say to them, Give ear to the word of the Lord, you kings of Judah, and all the people of Jerusalem who come in by these doors:

21 Dette er hva Herren har sagt: Pass på at dere ikke tar opp noen byrde på sabbatsdagen, eller tar den inn gjennom Jerusalems porter;

This is what the Lord has said: See to yourselves, that you take up no weight on the Sabbath day, or take it in through the doors of Jerusalem;

22 Og ta ingen byrde ut av deres hus på sabbatsdagen, eller gjør noe arbeid, men hold sabbatsdagen hellig, slik som jeg befalte deres fedre;

And take no weight out of your houses on the Sabbath day, or do any work, but keep the Sabbath day holy, as I gave orders to your fathers;

23 Men de ga ingen oppmerksomhet og ville ikke lytte, men de gjorde nakken stiv slik at de ikke skulle lytte og ikke få opplæring.

But they gave no attention and would not give ear, but they made their necks stiff so that they might not give ear and might not get teaching.

24 Og det vil være slik at hvis dere med all omhu lytter til meg, sier Herren, og ikke tar noen byrde gjennom denne byens porter på sabbatsdagen, men holder sabbatsdagen hellig og ikke gjør noe arbeid i den;

And it will be, that if with all care you give ear to me, says the Lord, and take no weight through the doorways of this town on the Sabbath day, but keep the Sabbath day holy and do no work in it;

25 Da vil det komme konger og fyrster gjennom denne byens porter, sittende på Davids sete, i vogner og til hest, de og deres fyrster, og Judas menn og Jerusalems folk: og denne byen vil opprettholdes for evig.

Then through the doors of this town there will come kings and princes, seated on the seat of David, going in carriages and on horseback, they and their princes, and the men of Judah and the people of Jerusalem: and this town will keep its place for ever.

26 Og de vil komme fra byene i Juda og fra stedene rundt Jerusalem, og fra Benjamins land, og fra lavlandet, og fra fjellene, og fra Sørlandet, med brennoffer og dyreofre og grødeofre og røkelse og lovprisningsofre, til Herrens hus.

And they will come from the towns of Judah, and from the places round about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the lowlands, and from the mountains, and from the South, with burned offerings and offerings of beasts and meal offerings and perfume and offerings of praise, to the house of the Lord.

27 Men hvis dere ikke lytter til meg, for å holde sabbatsdagen hellig, og ikke la noen byrde løftes og tas gjennom Jerusalems porter på sabbatsdagen: da vil jeg sette en ild i dens porter, som brenner opp de store husene i Jerusalem, og den vil aldri bli slukket.

But if you do not give ear to me, to keep the Sabbath day holy, and to let no weight be lifted and taken through the doors of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day: then I will put a fire in its doorways, burning up the great houses of Jerusalem, and it will never be put out.
