1 Peter og Johannes gikk opp til tempelet ved bønnens time, den niende time {klokken 3:00}.

Peter and John were going up into the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour{3:00 PM}.

2 En mann som var lam fra fødselen av ble båret dit, som de daglig la ved tempeldøren kalt Den vakre, for å be om almisse fra dem som gikk inn i tempelet.

A certain man who was lame from his mother's womb was being carried, whom they laid daily at the door of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask gifts for the needy of those who entered into the temple.

3 Da han så Peter og Johannes som var på vei inn i tempelet, ba han om almisse.

Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive gifts for the needy.

4 Peter så nøye på ham sammen med Johannes og sa: "Se på oss."

Peter, fastening his eyes on him, with John, said, "Look at us."

5 Han fulgte med dem og forventet å få noe av dem.

He listened to them, expecting to receive something from them.

6 Men Peter sa: "Sølv og gull har jeg ikke, men det jeg har, gir jeg deg. I Jesu Kristi, nasareerens navn, stå opp og gå!"

But Peter said, "Silver and gold have I none, but what I have, that I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!"

7 Han tok ham i høyre hånd og reiste ham opp. Straks fikk føttene og anklene hans styrke.

He took him by the right hand, and raised him up. Immediately his feet and his ankle bones received strength.

8 Han sprang opp, sto og begynte å gå. Og han gikk med dem inn i tempelet, gående, hoppende og lovpriste Gud.

Leaping up, he stood, and began to walk. He entered with them into the temple, walking, leaping, and praising God.

9 Alle folket så ham gå rundt og lovprise Gud.

All the people saw him walking and praising God.

10 De kjente ham igjen som den som pleide å sitte og be om almisse ved Den vakre tempelporten, og de ble fylt med undring og forbauselse over det som hadde skjedd med ham.

They recognized him, that it was he who used to sit begging for gifts for the needy at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. They were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

11 Mens den lamme som var helbredet, holdt seg til Peter og Johannes, løp alt folket sammen til dem i den søylegangen som kalles Salomos, full av undring.

As the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

12 Da Peter så det, sa han til folket: "Dere menn av Israel, hvorfor er dere forundret over dette? Hvorfor stirrer dere på oss som om vi ved egen kraft eller gudsfrykt har fått ham til å gå?

When Peter saw it, he responded to the people, "You men of Israel, why do you marvel at this man? Why do you fasten your eyes on us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him walk?

13 Abrahams, Isaks og Jakobs Gud, våre fedres Gud, har herliggjort sin tjener Jesus, som dere overga og fornektet for Pilatus, da han hadde bestemt seg for å løslate ham.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up, and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.

14 Men dere fornektet Den hellige og rettferdige og ba om at en morder skulle gis fri til dere,

But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

15 og drepte livets fyrste, som Gud oppreiste fra de døde, noe vi er vitner til.

and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, to which we are witnesses.

16 Ved troen på hans navn har hans navn gjort denne mannen sterk, som dere ser og kjenner. Ja, troen som er ved ham, har gitt ham fullkommen helse blant dere alle.

By faith in his name has his name made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which is through him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

17 "Og nå, brødre {Ordet for "brødre" her kan også riktig oversettes som "brødre og søstre" eller "søsken."}, jeg vet at dere gjorde dette i uvitenhet, akkurat som deres ledere også gjorde.

"Now, brothers{The word for "brothers" here may be also correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."}, I know that you did this in ignorance, as did also your rulers.

18 Men de ting som Gud forkynte gjennom alle sine profeter, at Kristus skulle lide, har han således oppfylt.

But the things which God announced by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled.

19 "Omvend dere derfor, og vend om, så deres synder blir utslettet, slik at tider med fornyelse kan komme fra Herrens nærvær,

"Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord,

20 og at han kan sende Kristus Jesus, som ble forordnet for dere før,

and that he may send Christ Jesus, who was ordained for you before,

21 som himmelen må ta imot til de tider da alt det som Gud har talt om ved sine hellige profeter fra eldgamle dager, skal gjenopprettes.

whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God spoke long ago by the mouth of his holy prophets.

22 For Moses sa til fedrene: 'Herren Gud vil oppreise en profet for dere blant brødrene deres, lik meg. Dere skal høre på ham i alt han sier til dere.

For Moses indeed said to the fathers, 'The Lord God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him in all things whatever he says to you.

23 Det skal skje at enhver sjel som ikke hører på den profeten, skal bli fullstendig utryddet fra folket.'

It will be, that every soul that will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.'

24 Ja, og alle profetene fra Samuel og de som fulgte etter, så mange som har talt, de også har forkynt om disse dager.

Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed after, as many as have spoken, they also told of these days.

25 Dere er profetenes barn, og av den pakten som Gud inngikk med våre fedre, idet han sa til Abraham: 'I din ætt skal alle jordens familier bli velsignet.'

You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'In your seed will all the families of the earth be blessed.'

26 Gud, som reiste sin tjener opp, Jesus, sendte ham først til dere for å velsigne dere, ved å vende hver og en av dere bort fra deres ondskap."

God, having raised up his servant, Jesus, sent him to you first, to bless you, in turning away everyone of you from your wickedness."
