1 Herrens ord kom igjen til meg, og sa:

The word of Yahweh came again to me, saying,

2 Du menneskesønn, si til fyrsten av Tyre: Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi ditt hjerte har blitt hovmodig, og du har sagt: Jeg er en gud, jeg sitter på Guds trone, midt i havet. Men du er et menneske, ikke en gud, selv om du har satt ditt hjerte som Guds hjerte.

Son of man, tell the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet you are man, and not God, though you did set your heart as the heart of God;-

3 Se, du er visere enn Daniel; ingen hemmelighet er skjult for deg.

behold, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that is hidden from you;

4 Ved din visdom og din innsikt har du fått rikdom, og samlet gull og sølv i skattene dine.

by your wisdom and by your understanding you have gotten you riches, and have gotten gold and silver into your treasures;

5 Ved din store visdom og din handel har du økt din rikdom, og ditt hjerte er blitt hovmodig på grunn av din rikdom.

by your great wisdom [and] by your traffic have you increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches;-

6 Derfor sier Herren Gud: Fordi du har satt ditt hjerte som Guds hjerte,

therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because you have set your heart as the heart of God,

7 se, jeg vil føre fremmede mot deg, de mest fryktede blant nasjonene; de skal dra sverdene mot skjønnheten av din visdom og vanære din prakt.

therefore, behold, I will bring strangers on you, the terrible of the nations; and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and they shall defile your brightness.

8 De skal dra deg ned i graven, og du skal dø de drepte dødsfall, i havets dyp.

They shall bring you down to the pit; and you shall die the death of those who are slain, in the heart of the seas.

9 Vil du da si foran den som slår deg i hjel: Jeg er en gud? Men du er et menneske, ikke en gud, i hendene til den som sårer deg.

Will you yet say before him who kills you, I am God? but you are man, and not God, in the hand of him who wounds you.

10 Du skal dø en uomskårens død ved fremmedes hånd, for jeg har talt det, sier Herren Gud.

You shall die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, says the Lord Yahweh.

11 Herrens ord kom til meg, og sa:

Moreover the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

12 Du menneskesønn, syng en klagesang over kongen av Tyre, og si til ham: Så sier Herren Gud: Du lukker summen, full av visdom og fullkommen i skjønnhet.

Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and tell him, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: You seal up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

13 Du var i Eden, Guds hage; hver dyrebar stein smykket deg: rubin, topas, smaragd, krysolitt, onyks, jaspis, safir, turkis og beryll. Gullsmykket arbeid av tamburiner og piper var i deg. Den dagen du ble skapt var de forberedt.

You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz, emerald, chrysolite, onx, jasper, sapphire{or, lapis lazuli}, turquoise, and beryl. Gold work of tambourines and of pipes was in you. In the day that you were created they were prepared.

14 Du var den salvede kjeruben som dekker til; og jeg satte deg der du var, på Guds hellige fjell; du vandret blant ildens steiner.

You were the anointed cherub who covers: and I set you, [so that] you were on the holy mountain of God; you have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

15 Du var fullkommen på dine veier fra den dagen du ble skapt, inntil urettferdighet ble funnet i deg.

You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, until unrighteousness was found in you.

16 Ved overfloden av din handel fylte de midten av deg med vold, og du syndet: Derfor kastet jeg deg bort som vanhellig fra Guds fjell; jeg ødela deg, tildekkende kjerub, bort fra ildens steiner.

By the abundance of your traffic they filled the midst of you with violence, and you have sinned: therefore I have cast you as profane out of the mountain of God; and I have destroyed you, covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

17 Ditt hjerte ble hovmodig på grunn av din skjønnhet; du har ødelagt din visdom på grunn av din prakt: Jeg har kastet deg til jorden; jeg har lagt deg foran konger, for at de skal se deg.

Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness: I have cast you to the ground; I have laid you before kings, that they may see you.

18 Ved mengden av dine misgjerninger, i urettferdigheten av din handel, har du vanhelliget dine helligdommer; derfor brakte jeg fram en ild fra midten av deg; den fortærte deg, og jeg gjorde deg til aske på jorden for øynene på alle som ser deg.

By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your traffic, you have profaned your sanctuaries; therefore have I brought forth a fire from the midst of you; it has devoured you, and I have turned you to ashes on the earth in the sight of all those who see you.

19 Alle blant folkene som kjente deg, ble forferdet over deg: du er blitt til en skrekk, og du skal aldri mer være til.

All those who know you among the peoples shall be astonished at you: you are become a terror, and you shall nevermore have any being.

20 Herrens ord kom til meg, og sa:

The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

21 Du menneskesønn, vend ditt ansikt mot Sidon, og profetér mot det,

Son of man, set your face toward Sidon, and prophesy against it,

22 og si: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg er imot deg, Sidon; og jeg vil bli herliggjort midt iblant deg; og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren, når jeg har fullbyrdet dommer i henne, og har helliget meg i henne.

and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, Sidon; and I will be glorified in the midst of you; and they shall know that I am Yahweh, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be sanctified in her.

23 For jeg vil sende pest inn i henne, og blod i gatene hennes; de sårede skal falle midt i henne med sverdet fra alle sider; og de skal vite at jeg er Herren.

For I will send pestilence into her, and blood into her streets; and the wounded shall fall in the midst of her, with the sword on her on every side; and they shall know that I am Yahweh.

24 Det skal ikke mer være en stikkende torn for Israels hus, heller ikke en skadelig tistel blant dem rundt om dem, som gjorde dem foraktet; og de skal vite at jeg er Herren Gud.

There shall be no more a pricking brier to the house of Israel, nor a hurting thorn of any that are round about them, that did despite to them; and they shall know that I am the Lord Yahweh.

25 Så sier Herren Gud: Når jeg samler Israels hus fra folkene blant hvem de er spredd, og helliger meg i dem i de andres øyne, da skal de bo i sitt eget land, som jeg ga til min tjener Jakob.

Thus says the Lord Yahweh: When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the nations, then shall they dwell in their own land which I gave to my servant Jacob.

26 De skal bo der trygt; ja, de skal bygge hus, plante vingårder, og bo trygt, når jeg har fullbyrdet dommer over alle som foraktet dem fra alle kanter; og de skal kjenne at jeg er Herren deres Gud.

They shall dwell securely therein; yes, they shall build houses, and plant vineyards, and shall dwell securely, when I have executed judgments on all those who do them despite round about them; and they shall know that I am Yahweh their God.
