1 Du, menneskesønn, profeter til fjellene i Israel og si: Dere Israels fjell, hør Herrens ord.

You, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, You mountains of Israel, hear the word of Yahweh.

2 Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi fienden har sagt mot dere: Haha! De gamle høye steder er blitt våre eiendom;

Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because the enemy has said against you, Aha! and, The ancient high places are ours in possession;

3 så profeter og si: Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi de har gjort dere øde og slukt dere på alle sider, slik at dere kunne bli en eiendom for resten av folkeslagene, og dere er blitt omtalt blant folk og er gjenstand for sladder;

therefore prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because, even because they have made you desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that you might be a possession to the residue of the nations, and you are taken up in the lips of talkers, and the evil report of the people;

4 derfor, dere fjell i Israel, hør Herrens ord: Så sier Herren Gud til fjellene og til høydene, til bekkene og til dalene, til de øde områdene og til byene som er forlatt, som er blitt et bytte og til spott for resten av nasjonene rundt omkring;

therefore, you mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Yahweh: Thus says the Lord Yahweh to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes and to the cities that are forsaken, which are become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are round about;

5 derfor sier Herren Gud: Visselig, i ilden av min sjalusi har jeg talt mot resten av nasjonene, og mot hele Edom, som har tilegnet seg mitt land som eiendom, med glede i sitt hjerte, med forakt i sin sjel, for å drive det ut som bytte.

therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Edom, that have appointed my land to themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, with despite of soul, to cast it out for a prey.

6 Derfor profeter om Israels land, og si til fjellene og høydene, til bekkene og dalene: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg har talt i min sjalusi og i min vrede, fordi dere har båret skammen fra nasjonene:

Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and tell the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my wrath, because you have borne the shame of the nations:

7 derfor sier Herren Gud: Jeg har sverget, sier han, Visselig skal nasjonene som er rundt dere, bære sin egen skam.

therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: I have sworn, [saying], Surely the nations that are round about you, they shall bear their shame.

8 Men dere, Israels fjell, dere skal skyte ut grener, og bære frukt for mitt folk Israel; for de er nær ved å komme.

But you, mountains of Israel, you shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people Israel; for they are at hand to come.

9 For se, jeg er med dere, og jeg vil vende meg til dere, og dere skal bli dyrket og tilsådd;

For, behold, I am for you, and I will turn into you, and you shall be tilled and sown;

10 og jeg vil mangfoldiggjøre mennesker på dere, hele Israels hus, ja alle sammen; og byene skal bli bebodd, og de øde stedene skal bli bygget opp;

and I will multiply men on you, all the house of Israel, even all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited, and the waste places shall be built;

11 og jeg vil mangfoldiggjøre mennesker og dyr på dere; og de skal vokse og være fruktbare; og jeg vil få dere befolket som i forrige dager, og jeg vil gjøre mer for dere enn i begynnelsen: og dere skal kjenne at jeg er Herren.

and I will multiply on you man and animal; and they shall increase and be fruitful; and I will cause you to be inhabited after your former estate, and will do better [to you] than at your beginnings: and you shall know that I am Yahweh.

12 Ja, jeg vil få mennesker til å gå på dere, mitt eget folk Israel; og de skal eie dere, og dere skal være deres arv, og dere skal ikke mer frata dem barn.

Yes, I will cause men to walk on you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess you, and you shall be their inheritance, and you shall no more henceforth bereave them of children.

13 Så sier Herren Gud: Fordi de sier til dere, Du land er en menneskeetende og har fratatt ditt folk barn;

Thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because they say to you, You [land] are a devourer of men, and have been a bereaver of your nation;

14 derfor skal du ikke mer ete mennesker, heller ikke frata ditt folk barn mer, sier Herren Gud;

therefore you shall devour men no more, neither bereave your nation any more, says the Lord Yahweh;

15 heller ikke skal jeg la deg høre nasjonenes skam mer, heller ikke skal du bære folks skyld mer, heller ikke skal du gjøre ditt folk straffemodig mer, sier Herren Gud.

neither will I let you hear any more the shame of the nations, neither shall you bear the reproach of the peoples any more, neither shall you cause your nation to stumble any more, says the Lord Yahweh.

16 Og Herrens ord kom til meg, og sa:

Moreover the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

17 Menneskesønn, da Israels hus bodde i sitt eget land, gjorde de det urent ved sin ferd og ved sine handlinger: deres ferd for meg var som urenheten til en kvinne i hennes urenhet.

Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land, they defiled it by their way and by their doings: their way before me was as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.

18 Derfor utøste jeg min vrede over dem for det blodet de hadde utøst i landet, og fordi de hadde gjort det urent med sine avguder;

Therefore I poured out my wrath on them for the blood which they had poured out on the land, and because they had defiled it with their idols;

19 og jeg spredte dem blant nasjonene, og de ble spredt over landene: etter deres ferd og etter deres handlinger dømte jeg dem.

and I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings I judged them.

20 Da de kom til nasjonene, hvor de gikk, vanhelliget de mitt hellige navn; ved at folk sa om dem: Disse er Herrens folk, og har gått ut av hans land.

When they came to the nations, where they went, they profaned my holy name; in that men said of them, These are the people of Yahweh, and are gone forth out of his land.

21 Men jeg hadde omsorg for mitt hellige navn, som Israels hus hadde vanhelliget blant de nasjoner hvor de kom.

But I had regard for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations, where they went.

22 Derfor, si til Israels hus: Så sier Herren Gud: Jeg gjør ikke dette for deres skyld, Israels hus, men for mitt hellige navn, som dere har vanhelliget blant nasjonene hvor dere kom.

Therefore tell the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: I don't do [this] for your sake, house of Israel, but for my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations, where you went.

23 Jeg vil hellige mitt store navn, som har vært vanhelliget blant nasjonene, som dere har vanhelliget midt iblant dem; og nasjonene skal kjenne at jeg er Herren, sier Herren Gud, når jeg blir helliget gjennom dere for deres øyne.

I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in the midst of them; and the nations shall know that I am Yahweh, says the Lord Yahweh, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

24 For jeg vil hente dere ut fra nasjonene, og samle dere fra alle landene, og vil føre dere inn i deres eget land.

For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land.

25 Jeg vil stenke rent vann på dere, og dere skal bli rene: fra all deres urenhet, og fra alle deres avguder, vil jeg rense dere.

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

26 Et nytt hjerte vil jeg gi dere, og en ny ånd vil jeg gi i dere; og jeg vil ta ut steinhjertet fra deres kropp, og gi dere et kjødets hjerte.

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.

27 Jeg vil gi min Ånd i dere, og få dere til å vandre etter mine lover, og dere skal holde mine forskrifter og gjøre dem.

I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my ordinances, and do them.

28 Dere skal bo i det landet jeg gav deres fedre; og dere skal være mitt folk, og jeg vil være deres Gud.

You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

29 Jeg vil frelse dere fra all deres urenhet: og jeg vil kalle på kornet, og mangfoldiggjøre det, og ikke legge noen hungersnød over dere.

I will save you from all your uncleanness: and I will call for the grain, and will multiply it, and lay no famine on you.

30 Jeg vil mangfoldiggjøre treets frukt og markens avling, så dere ikke lenger skal bære vanære av hunger blant nasjonene.

I will multiply the fruit of the tree, and the increase of the field, that you may receive no more the reproach of famine among the nations.

31 Da skal dere huske deres onde veier og deres gjerninger som ikke var gode; og dere skal føle avsky for dere selv for deres misgjerninger og for deres avskyeligheter.

Then shall you remember your evil ways, and your doings that were not good; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.

32 Ikke for din skyld gjør jeg dette, sier Herren Gud, la det være kjent for dere: vær skamfull og forvirret over deres veier, Israels hus.

Nor for your sake do I [this], says the Lord Yahweh, be it known to you: be ashamed and confounded for your ways, house of Israel.

33 Så sier Herren Gud: Den dagen jeg renser dere fra all deres misgjerninger, vil jeg få byene befolket, og de øde stedene skal bygges opp.

Thus says the Lord Yahweh: In the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be built.

34 Det landet som var øde, skal bli dyrket, der det var en ødemark for øynene til dem som gikk forbi.

The land that was desolate shall be tilled, whereas it was a desolation in the sight of all who passed by.

35 De skal si: Dette landet som var øde, er blitt som Edens hage; og de ødelagte og øde og hedningebefolkede byene er befestet og bebodd.

They shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are fortified and inhabited.

36 Da skal de nasjonene som er igjen rundt omkring dere, vite at jeg, Herren, har bygget de ødelagte stedene, og plantet det som var øde: Jeg, Herren, har talt det, og jeg vil gjøre det.

Then the nations that are left round about you shall know that I, Yahweh, have built the ruined places, and planted that which was desolate: I, Yahweh, have spoken it, and I will do it.

37 Så sier Herren Gud: For dette vil jeg også bli bedt av Israels hus om å gjøre for dem: Jeg vil øke dem med mennesker som en flokk.

Thus says the Lord Yahweh: For this, moreover, will I be inquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them: I will increase them with men like a flock.

38 Som en hellig flokk, som Jerusalems flokk under hennes bestemte høytider, slik skal de ødelagte byene bli fylt med menneskeflokker; og de skal vite at jeg er Herren.

As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men; and they shall know that I am Yahweh.
