1 Dette er det Jesaja, sønn av Amos, så om Juda og Jerusalem.

This is what Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 I de siste dager skal det skje at Herrens husfjell grunnlegges på toppen av fjellene, det skal heves over høydene, og alle folkeslag skal strømme til det.

It shall happen in the latter days, that the mountain of Yahweh's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be raised above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it.

3 Mange folk skal dra av sted og si: "Kom, la oss dra opp til Herrens fjell, til Jakobs Guds hus, så han kan lære oss sine veier, og vi kan vandre på hans stier. For fra Sion skal loven utgå, og Herrens ord fra Jerusalem.

Many peoples shall go and say, "Come, let's go up to the mountain of Yahweh, To the house of the God of Jacob; And he will teach us of his ways, And we will walk in his paths. For out of Zion the law shall go forth, And the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.

4 Han skal dømme mellom folkene og skifte rett for mange folkeslag. De skal smi sine sverd om til plogskjær og sine spyd til vingårdskniver. Folk skal ikke løfte sverd mot folk, og de skal ikke mer lære å føre krig.

He will judge between the nations, And will decide concerning many peoples; And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning-hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war any more.

5 Jakobs hus, kom, la oss vandre i Herrens lys!

House of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.

6 For du har forkastet ditt folk, Jakobs hus, fordi de er fylt med spådomsfolk fra Østen, og driver med trolldom som filisterne. De går i pakt med fremmedes barn.

For you have forsaken your people, the house of Jacob, Because they are filled from the east, With those who practice divination like the Philistines, And they clasp hands with the children of foreigners.

7 Deres land er fullt av sølv og gull, og det er ingen ende på deres skatter. Deres land er også fullt av hester, og det er ingen ende på deres vogner.

Their land is full of silver and gold, Neither is there any end of their treasures. Their land also is full of horses, Neither is there any end of their chariots.

8 Deres land er også fullt av avguder, de tilber det som deres egne hender har laget, det deres egne fingre har formet.

Their land also is full of idols. They worship the work of their own hands, That which their own fingers have made.

9 Mennesket er ydmyket, og mennesket blir ydmyket; derfor tilgi dem ikke.

Man is brought low, And mankind is humbled; Therefore don't forgive them.

10 Gå inn i fjellet og skjul deg i støvet for Herrens redsler og for hans herlighets prakt.

Enter into the rock, And hide in the dust, From before the terror of Yahweh, And from the glory of his majesty.

11 Menneskenes stolte blikk skal ydmykes, og menneskets overmot skal bøyes ned, og Herren alene skal være opphøyet på den dagen.

The lofty looks of man will be brought low, The haughtiness of men will be bowed down, And Yahweh alone will be exalted in that day.

12 For Herren, hærskarenes Gud, har en dag mot alt som er stolt og hovmodig, og mot alt som er opphøyd, så det skal bli ydmyket.

For there will be a day of Yahweh of Hosts for all that is proud and haughty, And for all that is lifted up; And it shall be brought low:

13 Mot alle Libanes sedrer, som er høye og opphøyde, mot alle Basans eiker,

For all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, For all the oaks of Bashan,

14 mot alle høye fjell, mot alle opphøyde åser,

For all the high mountains, For all the hills that are lifted up,

15 mot hvert høye tårn, mot hver befestede mur,

For every lofty tower, For every fortified wall,

16 mot alle Tarshish-skipene og mot alle de vakre bildene.

For all the ships of Tarshish, And for all pleasant imagery.

17 Menneskenes stolthet skal bøyes, og menneskenes overmot skal ydmykes; og Herren alene skal være opphøyet på den dagen.

The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, And the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; And Yahweh alone shall be exalted in that day.

18 Avgudene skal fullstendig forsvinne.

The idols shall utterly pass away.

19 Folk skal gå inn i fjellhulene og jordens huler for Herrens redsler og for hans herlighets prakt, når han reiser seg for å ryste jorden med makt.

Men shall go into the caves of the rocks, And into the holes of the earth, From before the terror of Yahweh, And from the glory of his majesty, When he arises to shake the earth mightily.

20 På den dagen skal menneskene kaste bort sine avguder av sølv og gull, som de selv har laget for å tilbe dem, til muldvarpene og flaggermusene,

In that day, men shall cast away their idols of silver, And their idols of gold, Which have been made for themselves to worship, To the moles and to the bats;

21 for å gå inn i kløftene i fjellet og sprekker i steinmassene for Herrens redsler og for hans herlighets prakt, når han reiser seg for å ryste jorden med makt.

To go into the caverns of the rocks, And into the clefts of the ragged rocks, From before the terror of Yahweh, And from the glory of his majesty, When he arises to shake the earth mightily.

22 Slutt å stole på mennesker, hvis pust er i deres nesebor; for hva er de å regne?

Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils; For of what account is he?
