1 Herren talte til Moses og Aron og sa,

Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

2 "Israels barn skal slå leir, hver mann ved sitt banner, med sine fedrehuses tegn; på avstand fra møteteltet skal de slå leir rundt det."

"The children of Israel shall encamp every man by his own standard, with the ensigns of their fathers' houses: at a distance from the tent of meeting shall they encamp around it."

3 De som slår leir på østsiden, mot soloppgangen, skal tilhøre Judas leir, etter deres grupper, og lederen for Judas barn skal være Nahshon, Amminadabs sønn.

Those who encamp on the east side toward the sunrise shall be of the standard of the camp of Judah, according to their divisions: and the prince of the children of Judah shall be Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

4 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av dem, var syttifire tusen seks hundre.

His division, and those who were numbered of them, were seventy-four thousand six hundred.

5 Ved siden av ham skal Isakars stamme slå leir, og lederen for Isakars barn skal være Netanel, Suars sønn.

Those who encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Issachar: and the prince of the children of Issachar shall be Nethanel the son of Zuar.

6 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av den, var femtifire tusen fire hundre.

His division, and those who were numbered of it, were fifty-four thousand four hundred.

7 Zebulons stamme, og lederen for Zebulons barn skal være Eliab, Helons sønn.

The tribe of Zebulun: and the prince of the children of Zebulun shall be Eliab the son of Helon.

8 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av den, var femtisju tusen fire hundre.

His division, and those who were numbered of it, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

9 Alle som ble talt opp av Judas leir var hundreåttiseks tusen fire hundre, etter deres grupper. De skal dra ut først.

All who were numbered of the camp of Judah were one hundred eighty-six thousand four hundred, according to their divisions. They shall set out first.

10 "På sørsiden skal Rubens leir være, etter deres grupper. Lederen for Rubens barn skal være Elisur, Sjedeurs sønn.

"On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their divisions. The prince of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.

11 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av den, var førtiseks tusen fem hundre.

His division, and those who were numbered of it, were forty-six thousand five hundred.

12 "Ved siden av ham skal Simons stamme slå leir. Lederen for Simons barn skal være Shelumiel, Zurishaddais sønn.

"Those who encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Simeon. The prince of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

13 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av dem, var femtini tusen tre hundre.

His division, and those who were numbered of them, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

14 "Gads stamme, og lederen for Gads barn skal være Eliasaf, Reuels sønn.

"The tribe of Gad: and the prince of the children of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel.

15 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av dem, var førtifem tusen seks hundre femti.

His division, and those who were numbered of them, were forty-five thousand six hundred fifty.

16 "Alle som ble talt opp av Rubens leir var hundre enogfemti tusen fire hundre femti, etter deres grupper. De skal dra ut som nummer to.

"All who were numbered of the camp of Reuben were one hundred fifty-one thousand four hundred fifty, according to their hosts. They shall set out second.

17 "Så skal møteteltet dra ut, med Levittenes leir i midten av leirene. Slik de slår leir, slik skal de dra ut, hver mann på sin plass, ved sine bannere.

"Then the tent of meeting shall set out, with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps. As they encamp, so shall they set out, every man in his place, by their standards.

18 "På vestsiden skal Efraims leir være, etter deres grupper; lederen for Efraims barn skal være Elisjama, Ammihuds sønn.

"On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their divisions: and the prince of the children of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud.

19 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av dem, var førti tusen fem hundre.

His division, and those who were numbered of them, were forty thousand five hundred.

20 "Ved siden av ham skal Manasses stamme være; lederen for Manasses barn skal være Gamaliel, Pedahsurs sønn.

"Next to him shall be the tribe of Manasseh: and the prince of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

21 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av dem, var trettito tusen to hundre.

His division, and those who were numbered of them, were thirty-two thousand two hundred.

22 "Benjamins stamme, og lederen for Benjamins barn skal være Abidan, Gideonis sønn.

"The tribe of Benjamin: and the prince of the children of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni.

23 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av dem, var trettifem tusen fire hundre.

His host, and those who were numbered of them, were thirty-five thousand four hundred.

24 "Alle som ble talt opp av Efraims leir var hundre og åtte tusen ett hundre, etter deres grupper. De skal dra ut som nummer tre.

"All who were numbered of the camp of Ephraim were one hundred eight thousand one hundred, according to their divisions. They shall set out third.

25 "På nordsiden skal dans leir være, etter deres grupper; lederen for Dans barn skal være Ahi’ezer, Ammishaddais sønn.

"On the north side shall be the standard of the camp of Dan according to their divisions: and the prince of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

26 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av dem, var sekstitvå tusen syv hundre.

His division, and those who were numbered of them, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

27 "Ved siden av ham skal Ashers stamme være; lederen for Ashers barn skal være Pagiel, Okrans sønn.

"Those who encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the prince of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ochran.

28 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av dem, var førtien tusen fem hundre.

His division, and those who were numbered of them, were forty-one thousand and five hundred.

29 "Naftalis stamme, og lederen for Naftalis barn skal være Ahira, Enans sønn.

"The tribe of Naphtali: and the prince of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan.

30 Hans gruppe, de som ble talt opp av dem, var femtitre tusen fire hundre.

His division, and those who were numbered of them, were fifty-three thousand four hundred.

31 "Alle som ble talt opp av Dans leir var hundre femtisju tusen seks hundre. De skal dra ut sist, etter sine bannere."

"All who were numbered of the camp of Dan were one hundred fifty-seven thousand six hundred. They shall set out last by their standards."

32 Dette er de som ble talt opp av Israels barn etter deres fedrehus. Alle som ble talt opp av leirene, etter deres grupper, var sekshundre tre tusen fem hundre femti.

These are those who were numbered of the children of Israel by their fathers' houses. All who were numbered of the camps according to their hosts were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.

33 Men levittene ble ikke talt opp blant Israels barn, slik Herren hadde befalt Moses.

But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as Yahweh commanded Moses.

34 Slik gjorde Israels barn. I samsvar med alt Herren befalte Moses, slo de leir ved sine bannere, og slik dro de ut, hver etter sin familie, etter sine fedrehus.

Thus the children of Israel did. According to all that Yahweh commanded Moses, so they encamped by their standards, and so they set out, everyone by their families, according to their fathers' houses.
