1 Jeg så i høyre hånd av ham som satt på tronen, en bok skrevet både på innsiden og utsiden, forseglet med syv segl.

I saw, in the right hand of him who sat on the throne, a book written inside and outside, sealed shut with seven seals.

2 Jeg så en mektig engel som ropte med høy røst: "Hvem er verdig til å åpne boken og bryte dens segl?"

I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the book, and to break its seals?"

3 Ingen i himmelen, på jorden, eller under jorden var i stand til å åpne boken eller se inn i den.

No one in heaven above, or on the earth, or under the earth, was able to open the book, or to look in it.

4 Og jeg gråt mye fordi ingen var funnet verdig til å åpne boken eller se inn i den.

And I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open the book, or to look in it.

5 En av de eldste sa til meg: "Gråt ikke. Se, Løven av Juda stamme, Davids rot, har seiret; han er den som kan åpne boken og de syv segl."

One of the elders said to me, "Don't weep. Behold, the Lion who is of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome; he who opens the book and its seven seals."

6 Jeg så midt i tronen og blant de fire levende skapningene og blant de eldste, et Lam stående som om det var slaktet, med syv horn og syv øyne, som er Guds syv ånder, utsendt over hele jorden.

I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth.

7 Deretter kom han og tok boken fra høyre hånd av ham som satt på tronen.

Then he came, and he took it out of the right hand of him who sat on the throne.

8 Da han hadde tatt boken, falt de fire levende skapningene og de tjuefire eldste ned for Lammet, hver med en harpe, og gullskåler fulle av røkelser, som er de helliges bønner.

Now when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

9 De sang en ny sang og sa: "Du er verdig til å ta boken og åpne dens segl, for du ble slaktet og frikjøpte oss for Gud med ditt blod, fra hver stamme, tungemål, folk, og nasjon,

They sang a new song, saying, "You are worthy to take the book, And to open its seals: For you were killed, And bought us for God with your blood, Out of every tribe, language, people, and nation,

10 og gjorde dem til konger og prester for vår Gud, og de skal herske på jorden."

And made them kings and priests to our God, And they reign on earth."

11 Jeg så, og jeg hørte en røst av mange engler rundt tronen, de levende skapningene og de eldste; og antallet av dem var titusener av titusener, og tusener av tusener;

I saw, and I heard something like a voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands;

12 og de sa med høy røst: "Verdig er Lammet, som ble slaktet, til å motta makt, rikdom, visdom, styrke, ære, herlighet, og velsignelse!"

saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing!"

13 Jeg hørte alle skapninger i himmelen, på jorden, under jorden, på havet, og alt som er i dem, si: "Han som sitter på tronen, og Lammet, tilhører velsignelsen, æren, herligheten, og makten, i evighetenes evigheter! Amen!"

I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen!{TR omits "Amen!"}"

14 De fire levende skapningene sa: "Amen!" Eldste falt ned og tilba.

The four living creatures said, "Amen!" The {TR adds "twenty-four"}elders fell down and worshiped.{TR adds "the one living forever and ever"}
