Again I lifted up my eyes, and saw, and, behold, four chariots came out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass.

In the first chariot were red horses; in the second chariot black horses;

3 i den tredje vognen hvite hester; og i den fjerde vognen spraglete hester, alle sterke.

in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot dappled horses, all of them powerful.

4 Da spurte jeg engelen som talte med meg: "Hva er dette, min herre?"

Then I asked the angel who talked with me, "What are these, my lord?"

5 Engelen svarte meg: "Dette er de fire vindene fra himmelen, som går ut etter å ha stått for Herren over hele jorden.

The angel answered me, "These are the four winds of the sky, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.

6 Den med de svarte hestene går mot nordlandet; og de hvite dro ut etter dem; og de spraglete dro mot søndrelandet."

The one with the black horses goes out toward the north country; and the white went out after them; and the dappled went forth toward the south country."

7 De sterke dro ut og ønsket å vandre frem og tilbake over jorden; og han sa: "Dra rundt og over jorden!" Så de vandret frem og tilbake over jorden.

The strong went out, and sought to go that they might walk back and forth through the earth: and he said, "Go around and through the earth!" So they walked back and forth through the earth.

8 Så ropte han til meg og sa: "Se, de som drar mot nordlandet har roet min ånd i nordlandet."

Then he called to me, and spoke to me, saying, "Behold, those who go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country."

9 Herrens ord kom til meg og sa:

The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

10 "Ta av dem som er i fangenskap, til og med av Heldai, Tobia og Jedaja; og kom samme dag og gå inn i huset til Josjia, sønn av Sefanja, der de har kommet fra Babylon.

"Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah; and come the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, where they have come from Babylon.

11 Ja, ta sølv og gull, og lag kroner, og sett dem på hodet til Josva, sønn av Josadak, ypperstepresten;

Yes, take silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them on the head of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest;

12 og si til ham: 'Så sier Herren over hærskarene: "Se, mannen som heter Spire: han skal vokse frem fra sitt sted; og han skal bygge Herrens tempel;

and speak to him, saying, 'Thus says Yahweh of Hosts, "Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build the temple of Yahweh;

13 ja, han skal bygge Herrens tempel; og han skal bære herligheten, og skal sitte og herske på sin trone; og han skal være prest på sin trone; og fredens råd skal være mellom dem begge."

even he shall build the temple of Yahweh; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule on his throne; and he shall be a priest on his throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

14 Kronene skal være for Helem, Tobia, Jedaja og Hen, sønn av Sefanja, til minne i Herrens tempel.

The crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of Yahweh.

15 De som er langt borte skal komme og bygge i Herrens tempel; og du skal vite at Herren over hærskarene har sendt meg til deg. Dette skal skje, hvis dere flittig adlyder Herren deres Guds stemme."'"

Those who are far off shall come and build in the temple of Yahweh; and you shall know that Yahweh of hosts has sent me to you. This will happen, if you will diligently obey the voice of Yahweh your God."'"
