Verse 18

And about the time of fourtie yeeres, suffered he their maners in the wildernesse.

Neh 9:16-21 : 16 But they and our fathers behaued them selues proudely, and hardened their neck, so that they hearkened not vnto thy commandements, 17 But refused to obey, & would not remember thy marueilous works that thou haddest done for them, but hardened their neckes, and had in their heads to returne to their bondage by their rebellion: but thou, O God of mercies, gratious and full of compassion, of long suffring and of great mercie, yet forsookest them not. 18 Moreouer, when they made them a molten calfe (and said, This is thy God that brought thee vp out of the land of Egypt) and committed great blasphemies, 19 Yet thou for thy great mercies forsookest them not in the wildernesse: the pillar of the cloude departed not from them by day to leade them the way, neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way whereby they should goe. 20 Thou gauest also thy good Spirite to instruct them, & withheldest not thy MAN from their mouth, & gauest them water for their thirst. 21 Thou didest also feede them fourtie yeres in ye wildernes: they lacked nothing: their clothes waxed not old, and their feete swelled not.
Ps 78:17-42 : 17 Yet they sinned stil against him, and prouoked the Highest in the wildernesse, 18 And tempted God in their heartes in requiring meate for their lust. 19 They spake against God also, saying, Can God prepare a table in the wildernesse? 20 Behold, he smote the rocke, that the water gushed out, and the streames ouerflowed: can hee giue bread also? or prepare flesh for his people? 21 Therefore the Lord heard and was angrie, and the fire was kindled in Iaakob, & also wrath came vpon Israel, 22 Because they beleeued not in God, and trusted not in his helpe. 23 Yet he had comanded the clouds aboue, and had opened the doores of heauen, 24 And had rained downe MAN vpon them for to eate, and had giuen them of the wheate of heauen. 25 Man did eate the bread of Angels: hee sent them meate ynough. 26 He caused the Eastwinde to passe in the heauen, and through his power he brought in the Southwinde. 27 Hee rained flesh also vpon them as dust, and feathered foule as the sand of the sea. 28 And hee made it fall in the middes of their campe euen round about their habitations. 29 So they did eate and were well filled: for he gaue them their desire. 30 They were not turned from their lust, but the meate was yet in their mouthes, 31 When the wrath of God came euen vpon them, and slew the strongest of them, and smote downe the chosen men in Israel. 32 For all this, they sinned stil, and beleeued not his wonderous woorkes. 33 Therefore their daies did hee consume in vanitie, and their yeeres hastily. 34 And when hee slewe them, they sought him and they returned, and sought God earely. 35 And they remembred that God was their strength, and the most high God their redeemer. 36 But they flattered him with their mouth, and dissembled with him with their tongue. 37 For their heart was not vpright with him: neither were they faithfull in his couenant. 38 Yet he being merciful forgaue their iniquitie, & destroied them not, but oft times called backe his anger, & did not stirre vp all his wrath. 39 For he remebred that they were flesh: yea, a winde that passeth and commeth not againe. 40 How oft did they prouoke him in the wildernes? and grieue him in the desert? 41 Yea, they returned, & tempted God, and limited the Holie one of Israel. 42 They remebred not his hand, nor the day when he deliuered them from the enemie,
Ps 95:8-9 : 8 Harden not your heart, as in Meribah, and as in the day of Massah in the wildernesse. 9 Where your fathers tempted me, proued me, though they had seene my worke. 10 Fourtie yeeres haue I contended with this generation, and said, They are a people that erre in heart, for they haue not knowen my wayes. 11 Wherefore I sware in my wrath, saying, Surely they shall not enter into my rest.
Ps 106:13-29 : 13 But incontinently they forgate his workes: they wayted not for his counsell, 14 But lusted with concupiscence in the wildernes, and tempted God in the desert. 15 Then he gaue them their desire: but he sent leannesse into their soule. 16 They enuied Moses also in the tentes, and Aaron the holy one of the Lord. 17 Therefore the earth opened & swallowed vp Dathan, & couered the companie of Abiram. 18 And the fire was kindled in their assembly: the flame burnt vp the wicked. 19 They made a calfe in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image. 20 Thus they turned their glory into the similitude of a bullocke, that eateth grasse. 21 They forgate God their Sauiour, which had done great things in Egypt, 22 Wonderous woorkes in the lande of Ham, and fearefull things by the red Sea. 23 Therefore he minded to destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stand in the breach before him to turne away his wrath, least he shoulde destroy them. 24 Also they contemned that pleasant land, and beleeued not his worde, 25 But murmured in their tentes, and hearkened not vnto the voice of the Lorde. 26 Therefore hee lifted vp his hande against them, to destroy them in the wildernesse, 27 And to destroy their seede among the nations, & to scatter them throughout the countries. 28 They ioyned themselues also vnto Baalpeor, and did eate the offrings of the dead. 29 Thus they prouoked him vnto anger with their owne inuentions, and the plague brake in vpon them.
Ezek 20:10-17 : 10 Nowe I caried them out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wildernes. 11 And I gaue them my statutes, and declared my iudgements vnto them, which if a man doe, he shall liue in them. 12 Moreouer I gaue them also my Sabbaths to be a signe betwene me & them, that they might knowe that I am the Lord, that sanctifie them. 13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wildernes: they walked not in my statutes, and they cast away my iudgements, which if a man doe, he shall liue in them, and my Sabbaths haue they greatly polluted: then I thought to powre out mine indignation vpon them in the wildernes to consume them, 14 But I had respect to my Name, that it shoulde not bee polluted before the heathen in whose sight I brought them out. 15 Yet neuerthelesse, I lift vp mine hande vnto them in the wildernes that I would not bring them into the lande, which I had giuen them, flowing with milke and hony, which was pleasant aboue all landes, 16 Because they cast away my iudgments, and walked not in my statutes, but haue polluted my Sabbaths: for their heart went after their idoles. 17 Neuerthelesse, mine eye spared them, that I would not destroye them, neither would I consume them in the wildernes.
Amos 5:25-26 : 25 Haue ye offered vnto me sacrifices and offrings in the wildernesse fourtie yeeres, O house of Israel? 26 But you haue borne Siccuth your King, and Chiun your images, and the starre of your gods, which ye made to your selues.
Acts 7:39-43 : 39 To whom our fathers would not obey, but refused, and in their hearts turned backe againe into Egypt: 40 Saying vnto Aaron, Make vs gods that may goe before vs: for we knowe not what is become of this Moses that brought vs out of the land of Egypt. 41 And they made a calfe in those dayes, and offered sacrifice vnto the idole, and reioyced in the workes of their owne handes. 42 Then God turned himselfe away, and gaue them vp to serue the host of heauen, as it is written in the booke of the Prophets, O house of Israel, haue ye offred to me slaine beasts and sacrifices by the space of fourtie yeres in the wildernes? 43 And ye tooke vp the tabernacle of Moloch, and the starre of your god Remphan, figures, which ye made to worship them: therefore I will carie you away beyond Babylon.
1 Cor 10:1-9 : 1 Moreouer, brethren, I woulde not that yee shoulde bee ignorant, that all our fathers were vnder that cloude, and all passed through that sea, 2 And were all baptized vnto Moses, in that cloude, and in that sea, 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat, 4 And did all drinke the same spirituall drinke (for they dranke of the spiritual Rocke that folowed them: and the Rocke was Christ) 5 But with many of them God was not pleased: for they were ouerthrowen in ye wildernes. 6 Nowe these things are our ensamples, to the intent that we should not lust after euil things as they also lusted. 7 Neither bee ye idolaters as were some of them, as it is written, The people sate downe to eate and drinke, and rose vp to play. 8 Neither let vs commit fornication, as some of them committed fornication, and fell in one day three and twentie thousand. 9 Neither let vs tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted him, and were destroyed of serpents. 10 Neither murmure ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
Heb 3:7-9 : 7 Wherefore, as the holy Ghost sayth, To day if ye shall heare his voyce, 8 Harden not your hearts, as in the prouocation, according to the day of the tentation in the wildernes, 9 Where your fathers tempted me, prooued me, and sawe my workes fourtie yeeres long. 10 Wherefore I was grieued with that generation, and sayde, They erre euer in their heart, neither haue they knowen my wayes.
Heb 3:16-19 : 16 For some when they heard, prouoked him to anger: howbeit, not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17 But with whome was he displeased fourtie yeeres? Was hee not displeased with them that sinned, whose carkeises fell in the wildernes? 18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but vnto them that obeyed not? 19 So we see that they could not enter in, because of vnbeliefe.
Exod 16:2 : 2 And the whole Congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses & against Aaron in the wildernesse.
Exod 16:35 : 35 And the children of Israel did eate MAN fourtie yeres, vntill they came vnto a land inhabited: they did eate MAN vntill they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.
Num 14:22 : 22 For all those men which haue seene my glory, and my miracles which I did in Egypt, and in the wildernes, and haue tempted me this ten times, and haue not obeyed my voyce,
Num 14:33-34 : 33 And your children shall wander in the wildernesse, fourtie yeeres, and shall beare your whoredomes, vntill your carkeises be wasted in the wildernesse. 34 After the nuber of the dayes, in the which ye searched out the lande, euen fourtie dayes, euery day for a yeere, shall ye beare your iniquity, for fourtie yeeres, & ye shall feele my breach of promise.
Deut 1:31 : 31 And in the wildernesse, where thou hast seene how the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doeth beare his sonne, in all the way which ye haue gone, vntill ye came vnto this place.
