Verse 7

And the Lorde thy God will lay all these curses vpon thine enemies, and on them, that hate thee, and that persecute thee.

Isa 14:1-9 : 1 For the Lord wil haue compassion of Iaakob, and wil yet chuse Israel, and cause them to rest in their owne lande: and the stranger shall ioyne him selfe vnto them, and they shall cleaue to the house of Iaakob. 2 And the people shall receiue them & bring them to their owne place, and the house of Israel shall possesse them in the land of the Lorde, for seruants & handmaids: and they shall take them prisoners, whose captiues they were, and haue rule ouer their oppressours. 3 And in that day when the Lord shal giue thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy feare, and from the sore bodage, wherein thou didest serue, 4 Then shalt thou take vp this prouerbe against the King of Babel, and say, Howe hath the oppressor ceased? & the gold thirsty Babel rested? 5 The Lorde hath broken the rodde of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers: 6 Which smote the people in anger with a continuall plague, and ruled the nations in wrath: if any were persecuted, he did not let. 7 The whole worlde is at rest and is quiet: they sing for ioye. 8 Also the firre trees reioyced of thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid downe, no hewer came vp against vs. 9 Hel beneath is mooued for thee to meete thee at thy coming, raising vp the deade for thee, euen all the princes of the earth, and hath raised from their thrones all the Kinges of the nations. 10 All they shall crie, and saie vnto thee, Art thou become weake also as we? Art thou become like vnto vs? 11 Thy pompe is brought downe to ye graue, and the sounde of thy violes: the worme is spred vnder thee, and the wormes couer thee. 12 How art thou fallen from heauen, O Lucifer, sonne of the morning? and cutte downe to the grounde, which didest cast lottes vpon the nations? 13 Yet thou saidest in thine heart, I will ascende into heauen, and exalt my throne aboue beside the starres of God: I will sitte also vpon the mount of the Congregation in the sides of the North. 14 I wil ascend aboue ye height of the cloudes, and I will be like the most high. 15 But thou shalt bee brought downe to the graue, to the sides of the pit. 16 They that see thee, shall looke vpon thee and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, and that did shake the kingdomes? 17 He made the worlde as a wildernesse, and destroied the cities thereof, and opened not the house of his prisoners. 18 All the Kings of the nations, euen they all sleepe in glorie, euery one in his owne house. 19 But thou art cast out of thy graue like an abominable branch: like the raiment of those that are slaine, and thrust thorowe with a sword, which goe downe to the stones of the pit, as a carkeise troden vnder feete. 20 Thou shalt not be ioyned with them in the graue, because thou hast destroied thine owne lande, and slaine thy people: the seede of the wicked shall not be renoumed for euer. 21 Prepare a slaughter for his children, for the iniquitie of their fathers: let them not rise vp nor possesse the land, nor fil the face of the world with enemies. 22 For I wil rise vp against them (sayth the Lorde of hostes) and will cut off from Babel the name and the remnant and the sonne, and the nephew, sayth the Lord: 23 And I wil make it a possession to ye hedgehogge, and pooles of water, and I will sweepe it with the besome of destruction, sayeth the Lorde of hostes. 24 The Lorde of hostes hath sworne, saying, Surely like as I haue purposed, so shall it come to passe, and as I haue consulted, it shall stand: 25 That I will breake to pieces Asshur in my land, and vpon my mountaines will I treade him vnder foote: so that his yoke shall depart from them, and his burden shall be taken from off their shoulder. 26 This is the counsell that is consulted vpon the whole worlde, and this is the hande stretched out ouer all the nations, 27 Because the Lorde of hostes hath determined it, and who shall disanull it? and his hande is stretched out, and who shall turne it away?
Jer 25:12-16 : 12 And when the seuentie yeres are accomplished, I will visite the King of Babel and that nation, saith the Lorde, for their iniquities, euen the land of the Caldeans, and will make it a perpetuall desolation, 13 And I will bring vpon that lande all my wordes which I haue pronounced against it, euen all that is written in this booke, which Ieremiah hath prophecied against all nations. 14 For many nations, and great Kings shall euen serue themselues of them: thus will I recopense them according to their deedes, and according to the workes of their owne handes. 15 For thus hath the Lorde God of Israel spoken vnto me, Take the cuppe of wine of this mine indignation at mine hand, and cause all the nations, to whome I sende thee, to drinke it. 16 And they shall drinke, and be moued and be mad, because of the sworde that I will sende among them.
Jer 25:29 : 29 For loe, I beginne to plague the citie, where my Name is called vpon, and shoulde you goe free? Ye shall not goe quite: for I will call for a sword vpon al the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lorde of hostes.
Jer 50:33-34 : 33 Thus saieth the Lord of hosts, The children of Israel, and the children of Iudah were oppressed together: and all that tooke them captiues, held them, and would not let them goe. 34 But their strong redeemer, whose Name is the Lord of hostes, he shall maintaine their cause, that he may giue rest to the lande, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babel.
Jer 51:24-26 : 24 And I will render vnto Babel, and to all the inhabitants of the Caldeans all their euil, that they haue done in Zion, euen in your sight, sayth the Lorde. 25 Beholde, I come vnto thee, O destroying mountaine, sayth the Lord, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand vpon thee, and rolle thee downe from the rockes, and wil make thee a burnt mountaine. 26 They shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations, but thou shalt be destroyed for euer, sayth the Lord.
Jer 51:34-37 : 34 Nebuchad-nezzar the King of Babel hath deuoured me, and destroyed me: he hath made me an emptie vessel: he swallowed mee vp like a dragon, and filled his belly with my delicates, and hath cast me out. 35 The spoyle of me, and that which was left of me, is brought vnto Babel, shall the inhabitant of Zion say: and my blood vnto the inhabitantes of Caldea, shal Ierusalem say. 36 Therefore thus sayth the Lorde, Beholde, I will maintayne thy cause, and take vengeance for thee, and I will drie vp the sea, and drie vp her springes. 37 And Babel shall be as heapes, a dwelling place for dragons, an astonishment, & an hissing, without an inhabitant.
Lam 3:54-66 : 54 Waters flowed ouer mine head, then thought I, I am destroyed. 55 I called vpon thy Name, O Lorde, out of the lowe dungeon. 56 Thou hast heard my voyce: stoppe not thine eare from my sigh and from my cry. 57 Thou drewest neere in the day that I called vpon thee: thou saydest, Feare not. 58 O Lord, thou hast maintained the cause of my soule, and hast redeemed my life. 59 O Lorde, thou hast seene my wrong, iudge thou my cause. 60 Thou hast seene all their vengeance, and all their deuises against me. 61 Thou hast heard their reproch, O Lord, and all their imaginations against me: 62 The lippes also of those that rose against me, and their whispering against me continually. 63 Behold, their sitting downe and their rising vp, how I am their song. 64 Giue them a recompence, O Lord, according to the worke of their handes. 65 Giue them sorow of heart, euen thy curse to them. 66 Persecute with wrath & destroy them from vnder the heauen, O Lord.
