4 But when Moses heard it, hee fell vpon his face, 5 And spake to Korah and vnto all his companie, saying, To morow the Lord will shew who is his, and who is holy, and who ought to approche neere vnto him: and whom he hath chosen, hee will cause to come neere to him. 6 This doe therefore, Take you censers, both Korah, and all his companie, 7 And put fire therein, and put incense in the before the Lord to morowe: and the man whome the Lord doeth chuse, the same shalbe holie: ye take too much vpon you, ye sonnes of Leui. 8 Againe Moses saide vnto Korah, Heare, I pray you, ye sonnes of Leui. 9 Seemeth it a smal thing vnto you that the God of Israel hath separated you from the multitude of Israel, to take you neere to himselfe, to doe the seruice of the Tabernacle of the Lord, & to stand before the Congregation and to minister vnto them? 10 He hath also taken thee to him, and all thy brethren the sonnes of Leui with thee, and seeke ye the office of the Priest also? 11 For which cause, thou, and all thy companie are gathered together against the Lord: and what is Aaron, that ye murmure against him? 12 And Moses sent to call Dathan, & Abiram the sonnes of Eliab: who answered, We will not come vp. 13 Is it a small thing that thou hast brought vs out of a lande that floweth with milke and honie, to kill vs in the wildernesse, except thou make thy selfe lord and ruler ouer vs also? 14 Also thou hast not brought vs vnto a land that floweth with milke and honie, neither giuen vs inheritance of fieldes and vineyardes: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come vp. 15 Then Moses waxed verie angry, and saide vnto the Lord, Looke not vnto their offring: I haue not taken so much as an asse from them, neither haue I hurt any of them. 16 And Moses said vnto Korah, Bee thou and al thy companie before the Lord: both thou, they, and Aaron to morowe: 17 And take euery man his censor, and put incense in them, and bring ye euery man his censor before the Lord, two hundreth and fiftie censors: thou also and Aaron, euery one his censor. 18 So they tooke euery man his censor, and put fire in them, and laide incense thereon, and stoode in the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation with Moses and Aaron. 19 And Korah gathered all the multitude against them vnto the doore of the Tabernacle of the Congregation: then the glorie of the Lorde appeared vnto all the Congregation. 20 And the Lorde spake vnto Moses and to Aaron, saying, 21 Separate your selues from among this Cogregation, that I may consume them at once. 22 And they fell vpon their faces and saide, O God the God of the spirits, of all fleshe, hath not one man onely sinned, and wilt thou bee wroth with all the Congregation? 23 And the Lorde spake vnto Moses, saying, 24 Speake vnto the Congregation & say, Get you away from about the Tabernacle of Korah, Dathan and Abiram. 25 Then Moses rose vp, and went vnto Dathan and Abiram, and the Elders of Israel followed him. 26 And he spake vnto the Congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tentes of these wicked men, and touche nothing of theirs, lest ye perish in all their sinnes. 27 So they gate them away from the Tabernacle of Korah, Dathan and Abiram on euerie side: and Dathan, and Abiram came out & stood in the doore of their tentes with their wiues, and their sonnes, and their little children. 28 And Moses saide, Hereby yee shall knowe that the Lord hath sent me to do all these works: for I haue not done them of mine owne minde. 29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men, the Lord hath not sent me. 30 But if the Lord make a newe thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallowe them vp with all that they haue, and they goe downe quicke into ye pit, then ye shal vnderstand that these men haue prouoked the Lord. 31 And assoone as he had made an ende of speaking all these wordes, euen the ground claue asunder that was vnder them, 32 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them vp, with their families, and all the men that were with Korah, and all their goods. 33 So they and all that they had, went down aliue into the pit, and the earth couered them: so they perished from among the Congregation. 34 And all Israel that were about them, fled at the crie of them: for they said, Let vs flee, least the earth swalow vs vp. 35 But there came out a fire from the Lorde, and consumed the two hundreth and fiftie men that offred the incense.
- Num 20:2-5 : 2 But there was no water for the Congregation, and they assembled them selues against Moses and against Aaron. 3 And the people chode with Moses, & spake, saying, Would God we had perished, when our brethren died before the Lord. 4 Why haue ye thus brought the Congregation of the Lorde vnto his wildernesse, that both we, and our cattell should die there? 5 Wherefore nowe haue yee made vs to come vp from Egypt, to bring vs into this miserable place, which is no place of seede, nor figges, nor vines, nor pomegranates? Neither is there any water to drinke.
- Deut 32:5-6 : 5 They haue corrupted them selues towarde him by their vice, not being his children, but a frowarde and crooked generation. 6 Doe ye so rewarde the Lorde, O foolish people and vnwise? is not he thy father, that hath bought thee? he hath made thee, and proportioned thee.
- Neh 9:16-18 : 16 But they and our fathers behaued them selues proudely, and hardened their neck, so that they hearkened not vnto thy commandements, 17 But refused to obey, & would not remember thy marueilous works that thou haddest done for them, but hardened their neckes, and had in their heads to returne to their bondage by their rebellion: but thou, O God of mercies, gratious and full of compassion, of long suffring and of great mercie, yet forsookest them not. 18 Moreouer, when they made them a molten calfe (and said, This is thy God that brought thee vp out of the land of Egypt) and committed great blasphemies,
- Ps 78:8-9 : 8 And not to bee as their fathers, a disobedient & rebellious generation: a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirite was not faithfull vnto God. 9 The children of Ephraim being armed and shooting with the bowe, turned backe in the day of battell. 10 They kept not the couenant of God, but refused to walke in his Lawe, 11 And forgate his Actes, and his wonderfull woorkes that he had shewed them. 12 Hee did marueilous thinges in the sight of their fathers in the lande of Egypt: euen in the fielde of Zoan. 13 He deuided the Sea, & led them through: he made also the waters to stand as an heape. 14 In the day time also hee led them with a cloude, and all the night with a light of fire. 15 He claue the rockes in the wildernes, and gaue them drinke as of the great depths. 16 He brought floods also out of the stonie rocke; so that hee made the waters to descend like the riuers. 17 Yet they sinned stil against him, and prouoked the Highest in the wildernesse, 18 And tempted God in their heartes in requiring meate for their lust. 19 They spake against God also, saying, Can God prepare a table in the wildernesse? 20 Behold, he smote the rocke, that the water gushed out, and the streames ouerflowed: can hee giue bread also? or prepare flesh for his people? 21 Therefore the Lord heard and was angrie, and the fire was kindled in Iaakob, & also wrath came vpon Israel, 22 Because they beleeued not in God, and trusted not in his helpe. 23 Yet he had comanded the clouds aboue, and had opened the doores of heauen, 24 And had rained downe MAN vpon them for to eate, and had giuen them of the wheate of heauen. 25 Man did eate the bread of Angels: hee sent them meate ynough. 26 He caused the Eastwinde to passe in the heauen, and through his power he brought in the Southwinde. 27 Hee rained flesh also vpon them as dust, and feathered foule as the sand of the sea. 28 And hee made it fall in the middes of their campe euen round about their habitations. 29 So they did eate and were well filled: for he gaue them their desire. 30 They were not turned from their lust, but the meate was yet in their mouthes, 31 When the wrath of God came euen vpon them, and slew the strongest of them, and smote downe the chosen men in Israel. 32 For all this, they sinned stil, and beleeued not his wonderous woorkes. 33 Therefore their daies did hee consume in vanitie, and their yeeres hastily. 34 And when hee slewe them, they sought him and they returned, and sought God earely. 35 And they remembred that God was their strength, and the most high God their redeemer. 36 But they flattered him with their mouth, and dissembled with him with their tongue. 37 For their heart was not vpright with him: neither were they faithfull in his couenant. 38 Yet he being merciful forgaue their iniquitie, & destroied them not, but oft times called backe his anger, & did not stirre vp all his wrath. 39 For he remebred that they were flesh: yea, a winde that passeth and commeth not againe. 40 How oft did they prouoke him in the wildernes? and grieue him in the desert? 41 Yea, they returned, & tempted God, and limited the Holie one of Israel. 42 They remebred not his hand, nor the day when he deliuered them from the enemie, 43 Nor him that set his signes in Egypt, and his wonders in the fielde of Zoan, 44 And turned their riuers into blood, & their floods, that they could not drinke. 45 Hee sent a swarme of flies among them, which deuoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them. 46 He gaue also their fruites vnto the caterpiller, and their labour vnto the grassehopper. 47 He destroied their vines with haile, & their wilde figge trees with the hailestone. 48 He gaue their cattell also to the haile, and their flockes to the thunderboltes. 49 Hee cast vpon them the fiercenesse of his anger, indignation and wrath, and vexation by the sending out of euill Angels. 50 He made a way to his anger: he spared not their soule from death, but gaue their life to the pestilence, 51 And smote al the firstborne in Egypt, euen the beginning of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham. 52 But hee made his people to goe out like sheepe, & led them in the wildernes like a flocke. 53 Yea, he caried them out safely, and they feared not, and the Sea couered their enemies. 54 And he brought them vnto the borders of his Sanctuarie: euen to this Mountaine, which his right hand purchased. 55 He cast out the heathe also before them, and caused them to fall to the lot of his inheritance, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tabernacles. 56 Yet they tempted, and prouoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies, 57 But turned backe & delt falsely like their fathers: they turned like a deceitfull bowe. 58 And they prouoked him to anger with their high places, and mooued him to wrath with their grauen images. 59 God heard this and was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel, 60 So that hee forsooke the habitation of Shilo, euen the Tabernacle where hee dwelt among men, 61 And deliuered his power into captiuitie, and his beautie into the enemies hand. 62 And hee gaue vp his people to the sworde, and was angrie with his inheritance. 63 The fire deuoured their chosen men, and their maides were not praised. 64 Their Priestes fell by the sworde, and their widowes lamented not. 65 But the Lord awaked as one out of sleepe, & as a strong man that after his wine crieth out, 66 And smote his enemies in the hinder parts, and put them to a perpetuall shame. 67 Yet he refused the tabernacle of Ioseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim: 68 But chose the tribe of Iudah, and mount Zion which he loued. 69 And he built his Sanctuarie as an high palace, like the earth, which he stablished for euer. 70 He chose Dauid also his seruant, and tooke him from the shepefolds. 71 Euen from behinde the ewes with yong brought he him to feede his people in Iaakob, and his inheritance in Israel. 72 So he fed them according to the simplicitie of his heart, and guided them by the discretion of his hands.
- Ps 95:8-9 : 8 Harden not your heart, as in Meribah, and as in the day of Massah in the wildernesse. 9 Where your fathers tempted me, proued me, though they had seene my worke. 10 Fourtie yeeres haue I contended with this generation, and said, They are a people that erre in heart, for they haue not knowen my wayes. 11 Wherefore I sware in my wrath, saying, Surely they shall not enter into my rest.
- Ezek 16:61-63 : 61 Then thou shalt remember thy wayes, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receiue thy sisters, both thy elder & thy yonger, and I will giue them vnto thee for daughters, but not by thy couenat. 62 And I wil establish my couenant with thee, and thou shalt knowe that I am the Lord, 63 That thou mayest remember, and be ashamed, & neuer open thy mouth any more: because of thy shame when I am pacified toward thee, for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord God.
