Verse 8

And these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt, euen Iaakob and his sonnes: Reuben, Iaakobs first borne.

These three were borne to him of ye daughter of Shua the Canaanite: but Er the eldest sonne of Iudah was euil in the sight of the Lorde, and he slew him. 4 And Thamar his daughter in law bare him Pharez, and Zerah: so al the sonnes of Iudah were fiue. 5 The sonnes of Pharez, Hezron & Hamul. 6 The sonnes also of Zerah were Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, & Dara, which were fiue in all. 7 And the sonne of Carmi, Achar that troubled Israel, transgressing in the thing excommunicate. 8 The sonne also of Ethan, Azariah. 9 And the sonnes of Hezron that were borne vnto him, Ierahmeel, and Ram and Chelubai. 10 And Ram begate Aminadab, and Aminadab begate Nahshon prince of the children of Iudah, 11 And Nahshon begate Salma, and Salma begate Boaz, 12 And Boaz begate Obed, and Obed begate Ishai, 13 And Ishai begate his eldest sonne Eliab, & Abinadab the second, and Shimma the third, 14 Nathaneel the fourth, Raddai the fift, 15 Ozem the sixt, and Dauid the seuenth. 16 Whose sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail; the sonnes of Zeruiah, Abishai, & Ioab, and Asahel. 17 And Abigail bare Amasa: and the father of Amasa was Iether an Ishmeelite. 18 And Caleb the sonne of Hezron begate Ierioth of Azubah his wife, and her sonnes are these, Iesher, and Shobab, and Ardon. 19 And when Azubah was dead, Caleb tooke vnto him Ephrath, which bare him Hur. 20 And Hur begate Vri, and Vri begate Bezaleel. 21 And afterward came Hezron to the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, and tooke her when hee was threescore yere olde, and shee bare him Segub. 22 And Segub begate Iair, which had three and twentie cities in the land of Gilead. 23 And Gesthur with Aram tooke the townes of Iair from them, and Kenath and the townes thereof, euen threescore cities. All these were the sonnes of Machir the father of Gilead. 24 And after that Hezron was dead at Caleb Ephratah, then Abiah Hezrons wife bare him also Ashur the father of Tekoa. 25 And ye sonnes of Ierahmeel the eldest sone of Hezron were Ram the eldest, then Bunah, and Oren and Ozen and Ahiiah. 26 Also Ierahmeel had another wife named Atarah, which was the mother of Onam. 27 And the sonnes of Ram the eldest sonne of Ierahmeel were Maaz, and Iamin and Ekar. 28 And the sonnes of Onam were Shammai and Iada; the sonnes of Shammai, Nadab and Abishur. 29 And the name of the wife of Abishur was called Abiahil, and shee bare him Ahban and Molid. 30 The sonnes also of Nadab were Seled and Appaim: but Seled died without children. 31 And the sonne of Appaim was Ishi, and the sonne of Ishi, Sheshan, & the sonne of Sheshan, Ahlai. 32 And the sonnes of Iada the brother of Shammai were Iether and Ionathan: but Iether dyed without children. 33 And the sonnes of Ionathan were Peleth and Zaza. These were the sonnes of Ierahmeel. 34 And Sheshan had no sonnes, but daughters; Sheshan had a seruant that was an Egyptian named Iarha. 35 And Sheshan gaue his daughter to Iarha his seruant to wife, and she bare him Attai. 36 And Attai begate Nathan, and Nathan begate Zabad, 37 And Zabad begate Ephlal, and Ephlal begate Obed, 38 And Obed begate Iehu, and Iehu begate Azariah, 39 And Azariah begate Helez, and Helez begate Eleasah, 40 And Eleasah begate Sisamai, and Sisamai begate Shallum, 41 And Shallum begate Iekamiah, and Iekamiah begate Elishama. 42 Also the sonnes of Caleb the brother of Ierahmeel, were Mesha his eldest sonne, which was the father of Ziph: and the sonnes of Mareshah the father of Hebron. 43 And the sonnes of Hebron were Korah & Tappuah, and Rekem and Shema. 44 And Shema begate Raham the father of Iorkoam: and Rekem begate Shammai. 45 The sonne also of Shammai was Maon: & Maon was the father of Beth-zur. 46 And Ephah a concubine of Caleb bare Haran and Moza, and Gazez: Haran also begate Gazez. 47 The sonnes of Iahdai were Regem, and Iotham, and Geshan, and Pelet, and Ephah, and Shaaph. 48 Calebs concubine Maachah bare Sheber and Tirhanah. 49 She bare also Shaaph, the father of Madmannah, and Sheua the father of Machbenah, & the father of Gibea. And Achsah was Calebs daughter. 50 These were the sonnes of Caleb the sone of Hur the eldest sonne of Ephrathah, Shobal the father of Kiriath-iearim. 51 Salma the father of Beth-lehem, and Hareph the father of Beth-gader. 52 And Shobal the father of Kiriath-iearim had sonnes, & he was the ouerseer of halfe Hammenoth. 53 And the families of Kiriath-iearim were the Ithrites, and the Puthites, and the Shumathites, and ye Mishraites of them came the Zarreathites, and the Eshtaulites. 54 The sonnes of Salma of Beth-lehem, and the Netophathite, the crownes of the house of Ioab, and halfe the Manahthites and the Zorites. 55 And the families of the Scribes dwelling at Iabez, the Tirathites, the Shimmeathites, the Shuchathites, which are the Kenites, that came of Hammath the father of the house of Rechab.
1 Chr 8:1-9 : 1 Beniamin also begate Bela his eldest sonne, Ashbel the second, and Aharah the third, 2 Nohah the fourth, and Rapha the fift. 3 And the sonnes of Bela were Addar, and Gera, and Abihud, 4 And Abishua, and Naaman and Ahoah, 5 And Gera, and Shephuphan, and Huram. 6 And these are the sonnes of Ehud: these were the chiefe fathers of those that inhabited Geba: and they were caryed away captiues to Monahath, 7 And Naaman, and Ahiah, and Gera, he caryed them away captiues: and he begate Vzza, and Ahihud. 8 And Shaharaim begate certaine in the coutrey of Moab, after he had sent away Hushim and Baara his wiues. 9 He begate, I say, of Hodesh his wife, Iobab and Zibia, and Mesha, and Malcham, 10 And Ieuz and Shachia and Mirma: these were his sonnes, and chiefe fathers. 11 And of Hushim he begat Ahitub & Elpaal. 12 And the sonnes of Elpaal were Eber, and Misham and Shamed (which built Ono, and Lod, and the villages thereof) 13 And Beriah and Shema (which were the chiefe fathers among the inhabitants of Aialon: they draue away the inhabitants of Gath) 14 And Ahio, Shashak and Ierimoth, 15 And Sebadiah, and Arad, and Ader, 16 And Michael, & Ispah, & Ioha, the sonnes of Beriah, 17 And Zebadiah, and Meshullam, and Hizki, and Heber, 18 And Ishmerai and Izliah, and Iobab, the sonnes of Elpaal, 19 Iakim also, and Zichri, and Sabdi, 20 And Elienai, and Zillethai, and Eliel, 21 And Adaiah, and Beraiah, & Shimrah the sonnes of Shimei, 22 And Ishpan, and Eber, and Eliel, 23 And Abdon, and Zichri, and Hanan, 24 And Hananiah, & Elam, and Antothiiah, 25 Iphedeiah & Penuel ye sonnes of Shashak, 26 And Shamsherai, and Shehariah, and Athaliah, 27 And Iaareshiah, and Eliah, and Zichri, the sonnes of Ieroham. 28 These were the chiefe fathers according to their generations, euen princes, which dwelt in Ierusalem. 29 And at Gibeon dwelt the father of Gibeon, and the name of his wife was Maachah. 30 And his eldest sonne was Abdon, then Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab, 31 And Gidor, and Ahio, and Zacher. 32 And Mikloth begate Shimeah: these also dwelt with their brethren in Ierusalem, euen by their brethren. 33 And Ner begate Kish, & Kish begat Saul, and Saul begate Ionathan, and Malchishua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal. 34 And the sonne of Ionathan was Merib-baal, and Merib-baal begate Micah. 35 And the sonnes of Micah were Pithon, & Melech, and Tarea, and Ahaz. 36 And Ahaz begate Iehoadah, & Iehoadah begate Alemeth, and Azmaueth, and Zimri, and Zimri begate Moza, 37 And Moza begate Bineah, whose sonne was Raphah, and his sonne Eleasah, and his sonne Azel. 38 And Azel had sixe sonnes, whose names are these, Azrikam, Bocheru and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan: all these were the sonnes of Azel. 39 And the sonnes of Eshek his brother were Vlam his eldest sonne, Iehush the second, and Eliphelet the third. 40 And the sonnes of Vlam were valiant men of warre which shot with the bow, and had many sonnes and nephewes, an hundreth and fiftie: all these were of the sonnes of Beniamin.
Exod 6:14-18 : 14 These bee the heades of their fathers houses: the sonnes of Reuben the first borne of Israel are Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi: these are ye families of Reuben. 15 Also the sonnes of Simeon: Iemuel and Iamin, and Ohad, and Iachin, and Zoar, and Shaul the sonne of a Canaanitish woman: these are the families of Simeon. 16 These also are the names of the sonnes of Leui in their generations: Gershon & Kohath and Merari (and the yeres of the life of Leui were an hundreth thirtie and seuen yere) 17 The sonnes of Gershon were Libni and Shimi by their families. 18 And the sonnes of Kohath, Amram and Izhar, and Hebron, & Vzziel. (and Kohath liued an hundreth thirtie and three yeere)
Num 1:5 : 5 And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you, of the tribe of Reuben, Elizur, the sonne of Shedeur:
Num 1:20-21 : 20 So were the sonnes of Reuben Israels eldest sonne by their generations, by their families, and by the houses of their fathers, according to the nomber of their names, man by man euery male from twentie yere olde and aboue, as many as went forth to warre: 21 The nomber of them, I say, of the tribe of Reuben, was sixe and fourtie thousande, and fiue hundreth.
Num 2:10-13 : 10 On the South side shalbe ye standerd of the host of Reuben according to their armies, & the captaine ouer the sonnes of Reuben shalbe Elizur the sonne of Shedeur. 11 And his host, and the nomber thereof sixe and fourty thousand and fiue hundreth. 12 And by him shal the tribe of Simeon pitch, and the captaiue ouer the sonnes of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the sonne of Zurishaddai: 13 And his hoste, and the nomber of them, nine and fiftie thousand and three hundreth.
Num 26:4-9 : 4 From twentie yeere olde and aboue ye shall nomber the people, as the Lord had commanded Moses, and the childre of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. 5 Reuben the first borne of Israel: the children of Reube were: Hanoch, of whom came the familie of the Hanochites, and of Pallu the familie of the Palluites: 6 Of Hesron, the familie of the Hesronites: of Carmi, the familie of the Carmites. 7 These are the families of the Reubenites: & they were in nomber three and fourtie thousand, seuen hundreth and thirtie. 8 And the sonnes of Pallu, Eliab: 9 And the sonnes of Eliab, Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram: this Dathan and Abiram were famous in the Congregation, and stroue against Moses and against Aaron in the assemblie of Korah, when they stroue against the Lord. 10 And the earth opened her mouth, and swalowed them vp with Korah, when the Congregation died, what time the fire consumed, two hundreth and fiftie men, who were for a signe. 11 Notwithstanding, all the sonnes of Korah dyed not.

Gen 29:1-9 : 1 Then Iaakob lift vp his feete and came into the East countrey. 2 And as he looked about, behold there was a well in the field, and lo, three flocks of sheepe lay thereby (for at that well were the flockes watered) & there was a great stone vpon the welles mouth. 3 And thither were all the flockes gathered, & they rolled the stone from the welles mouth, and watered the sheepe, and put the stone againe vpon the welles mouth in his place. 4 And Iaakob sayde vnto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they answered, We are of Haran. 5 Then he sayd vnto them, Know ye Laban the sonne of Nahor? Who said, We know him. 6 Againe he sayd vnto them, Is he in good health? And they answered, He is in good health, and beholde, his daughter Rahel commeth with the sheepe. 7 Then he sayd, Lo, it is yet hie day, neither is it time that the cattell shoulde be gathered together: water ye the sheepe and go feede them. 8 But they sayde, We may not vntill all the flocks be brought together, and till men rolle the stone from the welles mouth, that we may water the sheepe. 9 While he talked with them, Rahel also came with her fathers sheepe, for she kept them. 10 And assoone as Iaakob saw Rahel ye daughter of Laban his mothers brother, and the sheepe of Laban his mothers brother, then came Iaakob neere, & rolled the stone fro the welles mouth, & watered ye flocke of Laban his mothers brother. 11 And Iaakob kissed Rahel, and lift vp his voyce and wept. 12 (For Iaakob tolde Rahel, that he was her fathers brother, & that he was Rebekahs sonne) then she ranne and tolde her father. 13 And when Laban heard tell of Iaakob his sisters sonne, he ranne to meete him, and embraced him and kissed him, and brought him to his house: and he tolde Laban all these things. 14 To whome Laban sayd, Well, thou art my bone and my flesh; he abode with him the space of a moneth. 15 For Laban sayde vnto Iaakob, Though thou be my brother, shouldest thou therfore serue me for nought? tell me, what shalbe thy wages? 16 Now Laban had two daughters, the elder called Leah, and the yonger called Rahel. 17 And Leah was tender eyed, but Rahel was beautifull and faire. 18 And Iaakob loued Rahel, and sayde, I will serue thee seuen yeeres for Rahel thy yonger daughter. 19 Then Laban answered, It is better that I giue her thee, then that I should giue her to another man: abide with me. 20 And Iaakob serued seuen yeres for Rahel, and they seemed vnto him but a few dayes, because he loued her. 21 Then Iaakob sayde to Laban, Giue me my wife, that I may goe in to her: for my terme is ended. 22 Wherefore Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast. 23 But whe the euening was come, he tooke Leah his daughter and brought her to him, and he went in vnto her. 24 And Laban gaue his mayde Zilpah to his daughter Leah, to be her seruant. 25 But when the morning was come, behold, it was Leah. Then sayde he to Laban, Wherefore hast thou done thus to mee? did not I serue thee for Rahel? wherfore then hast thou beguiled me? 26 And Laban answered, It is not the maner of this place, to giue the yonger before the elder. 27 Fulfill seuen yeeres for her, and we wil also giue thee this for the seruice, which thou shalt serue me yet seuen yeeres more. 28 Then Iaakob did so, and fulfilled her seuen yeeres, so he gaue him Rahel his daughter to be his wife. 29 Laban also gaue to Rahel his daughter Bilhah his mayde to be her seruant. 30 So entred he in to Rahel also, and loued also Rahel more then Leah, and serued him yet seuen yeeres mo.
Gen 29:32 : 32 And Leah conceiued & bare a sonne, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Because the Lord hath looked vpon my tribulation, now therefore mine husband will loue me.
Gen 35:22-23 : 22 Now, when Israel dwelt in that land, Reuben went, and lay with Bilhah his fathers concubine, and it came to Israels eare; Iaakob had twelue sonnes. 23 The sonnes of Leah: Reuben Iaakobs eldest sonne, and Simeon, and Leui, and Iudah, and Issachar, and Zebulun.
Gen 49:1-9 : 1 Then Iaakob called his sonnes, and sayde, Gather your selues together, that I may tell you what shal come to you in the last dayes. 2 Gather your selues together, and heare, ye sonnes of Iaakob, and hearken vnto Israel your father. 3 Reuben mine eldest sonne, thou art my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellencie of dignitie, and the excellencie of power: 4 Thou wast light as water: thou shalt not be excellent, because thou wentest vp to thy fathers bed: then diddest thou defile my bed, thy dignitie is gone. 5 Simeon and Leui, brethren in euill, the instruments of crueltie are in their habitations. 6 Into their secret let not my soule come: my glory, be not thou ioyned with their assembly: for in their wrath they slew a man, and in their selfe will they digged downe a wall. 7 Cursed be their wrath, for it was fierce, and their rage, for it was cruell: I will deuide them in Iaakob, and scatter them in Israel. 8 Thou Iudah, thy brethre shal praise thee: thine hande shalbe in the necke of thine enemies: thy fathers sonnes shal bowe downe vnto thee. 9 Iudah, as a Lions whelpe shalt thou come vp from the spoyle, my sonne. He shall lye downe and couche as a Lion, and as a Lionesse: Who shall stirre him vp? 10 The scepter shall not depart from Iudah, nor a Lawegiuer from betweene his feete, vntill Shiloh come, and the people shall be gathered vnto him. 11 He shall binde his Asse foale vnto ye vine, and his Asses colte vnto the best vine. hee shall wash his garment in wine, and his cloke in the blood of grapes. 12 His eyes shalbe red with wine, and his teeth white with milke. 13 Zebulun shall dwell by the sea side, and he shalbe an hauen for shippes: and his border shalbe vnto Zidon. 14 Issachar shalbe a strong asse, couching downe betweene two burdens: 15 And he shall see that rest is good, and that the land is pleasant, and he shall bow his shoulder to beare, and shalbe subiect vnto tribute. 16 Dan shal iudge his people as one of the tribes of Israel. 17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder by the path, byting the horse heeles, so that his rider shall fall backward. 18 O Lord, I haue waited for thy saluation. 19 Gad, an hoste of men shal ouercome him, but he shal ouercome at the last. 20 Concerning Asher, his bread shalbe fat, and he shal giue pleasures for a king. 21 Naphtali shalbe a hinde let goe, giuing goodly wordes. 22 Ioseph shalbe a fruitefull bough, euen a fruitful bough by the well side: the smal boughs shall runne vpon the wall. 23 And the archers grieued him, and shotte against him and hated him. 24 But his bowe abode strong, and the hands of his armes were strengthened, by the handes of the mighty God of Iaakob, of whom was the feeder appointed, by the stone of Israel, 25 Euen by the God of thy father, who shall helpe thee, and by the almightie, who shall blesse thee with heauenly blessinges from aboue, with blessings of the deepe, that lyeth beneath, with blessings of the brestes, and of the wombe. 26 The blessings of thy father shalbe stronger then the blessings of mine elders: vnto the ende of the hilles of the worlde they shall be on the head of Ioseph, and on the top of the head of him that was separate from his brethren. 27 Beniamin shall rauine as a wolfe: in the morning he shall deuoure the pray, and at night he shal deuide the spoyle. 28 All these are the twelue tribes of Israel, and thus their father spake vnto them, and blessed them: euery one of them blessed hee with a seuerall blessing. 29 And he charged them & sayd vnto them, I am ready to be gathered vnto my people: burie mee with my fathers in the caue, that is in the fielde of Ephron the Hittite, 30 In the caue that is in the field of Machpelah besides Mamre in the land of Canaan: which caue Abraham bought with the fielde of Ephron the Hittite for a possession to burie in. 31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife: there they buryed Izhak and Rebekah his wife: and there I buried Leah. 32 The purchase of the fielde and the caue that is therein, was bought of the children of Heth. 33 Thus Iaakob made an end of giuing charge to his sonnes, and plucked vp his feete into the bed and gaue vp the ghost, and was gathered to his people.
