Verse 4

For the childre of Ioseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gaue no part vnto the Leuites in the lande, saue cities to dwell in, with the suburbes of the same for their beastes and their substance.

• 1 Chr 6:54-81 : 54 And these are the dwelling places of them throughout their townes and coastes, euen of the sonnes of Aaron for the familie of the Kohathites, for the lot was theirs. 55 So they gaue them Hebron in the lande of Iudah and the suburbes thereof rounde about it. 56 But the fielde of the citie, and the villages thereof they gaue to Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh. 57 And to the sonnes of Aaron they gaue the cities of Iudah for refuge, euen Hebron and Libna with their suburbes, and Iattir, and Eshtemoa with their suburbes, 58 And Hilen with her suburbes, and Debir with her suburbes, 59 And Ashan and her suburbes, and Bethshemesh and her suburbes: 60 And of the tribe of Beniamin, Geba and her suburbes, and Alemeth with her suburbes, and Anathoth with her suburbes: all their cities were thirteene cities by their families. 61 And vnto the sonnes of Kohath the remnant of the familie of the tribe, euen of the halfe tribe of the halfe of Manasseh, by lot ten cities. 62 And to the sonnes of Gershom according to their families out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteene cities. 63 Vnto the sonnes of Merari according to their families out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, by lot twelue cities. 64 Thus the children of Israel gaue to the Leuites cities with their suburbes. 65 And they gaue by lot out of the tribe of the children of Iudah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Beniamin, these cities, which they called by their names. 66 And they of the families of the sonnes of Kohath, had cities and their coastes out of the tribe of Ephraim. 67 And they gaue vnto them cities of refuge, Shechem in mount Ephraim, and her suburbes, and Gezer and her suburbes, 68 Iokmeam also and her suburbes, and Bethhoron with her suburbes, 69 And Aialon and her suburbes, and Gath Rimmon and her suburbes, 70 And out of the halfe tribe of Manasseh, Aner and her suburbes, and Bileam and her suburbes, for the families of the remnant of the sonnes of Kohath. 71 Vnto the sonnes of Gershom out of the familie of the halfe tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan, and her suburbes, and Ashtaroth with her suburbes, 72 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kedesh and her suburbes, Daberath and her suburbes, 73 Ramoth also and her suburbes, and Anem with her suburbes, 74 And out of the tribe of Asher, Mashal and her suburbes, and Abdon and her suburbes, 75 And Hukok and her suburbs, and Rehob and her suburbes, 76 And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilea and her suburbes, and Hammon and her suburbes, and Kiriathaim and her suburbes. 77 Vnto the rest of the children of Merari were giuen out of ye tribe of Zebulun Rimmon and her suburbes, Tabor and her suburbes, 78 And on the other side Iorden by Iericho, euen on the Eastside of Iorden, out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the wildernesse with her suburbes, and Iahzah with her suburbes, 79 And Kedemoth with her suburbes, & Mephaath with her suburbes, 80 And out of the tribe of Gad Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbes, and Mahanaim with her suburbes, 81 And Heshbon with her suburbes, and Iaazer with her suburbes.
• Num 35:2-8 : 2 Commande ye children of Israel, that they giue vnto the Leuites of the inheritace of their possession, cities to dwell in: yee shall giue also vnto the Leuites the suburbes of the cities round about them. 3 So they shall haue the cities to dwell in, & their suburbes shall be for their cattell, and for their substance, and for all their beasts. 4 And the suburbes of the cities, which ye shal giue vnto the Leuites, from the wall of the citie outward, shalbe a thousand cubites round about. 5 And yee shall measure without the citie of the Eastside, two thousand cubites: and of the Southside, two thousand cubites: & of the Westside, two thousand cubites: & of ye Northside, two thousand cubites: & the citie shalbe in ye middes. this shalbe the measure of the suburbes of their cities. 6 And of the cities which yee shall giue vnto the Leuites, there shalbe sixe cities for refuge, which ye shal appoint, that he which killeth, may flee thither: and to them yee shall adde two and fourtie cities mo. 7 All the cities which yee shall giue to the Leuites, shalbe eight and fourtie cities: them shal ye giue with their suburbes. 8 And concerning the cities which yee shall giue, of the possession of the children of Israel: of many ye shall take mo, and of few ye shall take lesse: euery one shall giue of his cities vnto the Leuites, according to his inheritance, which hee inheriteth.
• Josh 21:2-9 : 2 And spake vnto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, The Lorde commanded by the hande of Moses, to giue vs cities to dwell in, with the suburbes thereof for our cattell. 3 So the children of Israel gaue vnto the Leuites, out of their inheritance at the commaundement of the Lord these cities with their suburbes. 4 And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron ye Priest, which were of the Leuites, had by lot, out of the tribe of Iudah, & out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Beniamin thirteene cities. 5 And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the halfe tribe of Manasseh, tenne cities. 6 Also the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, & out of the tribe of Asher, and out of ye tribe of Naphtali, and out of the halfe tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteene cities. 7 The children of these cities with their suburbes, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses. 9 And they gaue out of the tribe of the children of Iudah, & out of the tribe of the children of Simeo, these cities which are here named. 10 And they were the childrens of Aaron being of the families of the Kohathites, and of the sonnes of Leui, (for theirs was the first lot) 11 So they gaue them Kiriath-arba of the father of Anok (which is Hebron) in the mountaine of Iudah, with the suburbes of the same round about it. 12 (But the lande of the citie, and the villages thereof, gaue they to Caleb the sonne of Iephunneh to be his possession) 13 Thus they gaue to the children of Aaron the Priest, a citie of refuge for the slaier, euen Hebron with her suburbes, and Libnah with her suburbes, 14 And Iattir with her suburbes, and Eshtemoa, and her suburbes, 15 And Holon with her suburbes, and Debir with her suburbes, 16 And Ain with her suburbes, and Iuttah with her suburbes, Beth-shemesh with her suburbes: nine cities out of those two tribes. 17 And out of the tribe of Beniamin they gaue Gibeon with her suburbes, Geba with her suburbes, 18 Anathoth with her suburbes, and Almon with her suburbes: foure cities. 19 All the cities of the children of Aaron Priests, were thirteene cities with their suburbes. 20 But to the families of the children of Kohath of the Leuites, which were the rest of the children of Kohath (for the cities of their lot were out of the tribe of Ephraim) 21 They gaue them the citie of refuge for the slaier, Shechem with her suburbes in mount Ephraim, and Gezer with her suburbes, 22 And Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Bethhoron with her suburbes: foure cities. 23 And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with her suburbes, Gibethon with her suburbes, 24 Aiialon with her suburbes, Gath-rimmon with her suburbes: foure cities. 25 And out of the halfe tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with her suburbes, and Gath-rimmon with her suburbes: two cities. 26 All the cities for the other families of the children of Kohath were ten with their suburbes. 27 Also vnto the children of Gershon of the families of the Leuites, they gaue out of the halfe tribe of Manasseh, the citie of refuge for the slaier, Golan in Bashan with her suburbes, and Beeshterah with her suburbes: two cities. 28 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with her suburbes, Dabereh with her suburbes, 29 Iarmuth with her suburbes, En-gannim with her suburbes: foure cities. 30 And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbes, Abdon with her suburbes, 31 Helkah with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbes: foure cities. 32 And out of the tribe of Naphtali, the citie of refuge for the slaier, Kedesh in Galil with her suburbes, and Hammoth-dor with her suburbes, and Kartan with her suburbes: three cities. 33 Al the cities of the Gershonites according to their families, were thirteene cities with their suburbes. 34 Also vnto the families of the children of Merari the rest of the Leuites, they gaue out of the tribe of Zebulun, Iokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbes, 35 Dimnah with her suburbes, Nahalal, with her suburbes: foure cities. 36 And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with her suburbs, and Iahazah with her suburbs, 37 Kedemoth with her suburbes, and Mephaath with her suburbes: foure cities. 38 And out of the tribe of Gad they gaue for a citie of refuge for the slaier, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbes, and Mahanaim with her suburbes, 39 Heshbon with her suburbs, and Iazer with her suburbes: foure cities in all. 40 So all the cities of the children of Merari according to their families (which were the rest of the families of the Leuites) were by their lot, twelue cities. 41 And all the cities of the Leuites within the possession of the children of Israel, were eight and fourtie with their suburbes. 42 These cities lay euery one seuerallie with their suburbes round about them: so were all these cities.
