Så ble kong Salomo konge over hele Israel.

So king Solomon was king over all Israel.

And these were the princes which he had; Azariah the son of Zadok the priest,

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar were the priests:

Asarja, sønn av Natan, var leder for embetsmennene. Zabud, sønn av Natan, var yppersteprest og kongens venn.

And Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers: and Zabud the son of Nathan was principal officer, and the king's friend:

Ahisjar hadde tilsyn med husholdet, og Adoniram, sønn av Abda, hadde ansvar for arbeidspliktene.

And Ahishar was over the household: and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the tribute.

Salomo hadde tolv embetsmenn over hele Israel, som sørget for forsyninger til kongen og hans hushold. Hver mann sørget for forsyninger én måned i året.

And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, which provided victuals for the king and his household: each man his month in a year made provision.

The son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him pertained Sochoh, and all the land of Hepher:

Sønnen av Abinadab, i hele regionen Dor; han hadde Tafat, Salomos datter, til hustru.

The son of Abinadab, in all the region of Dor; which had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

Baana, sønn av Ahilud; han hadde Taanak og Megiddo, og hele Bet-Sjean, ved Saretan nedenfor Jisreel, fra Bet-Sjean til Abel-Mehola, helt til stedet som ligger bortom Jokneam.

Baana the son of Ahilud; to him pertained Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-shean, which is by Zartanah beneath Jezreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah, even unto the place that is beyond Jokneam:

Sønnen av Geber, i Ramot i Gilead; han hadde byene til Jair, sønn av Manasse, som er i Gilead; han hadde også regionen Argob i Basan, seksti store byer med murer og bronseporter.

The son of Geber, in Ramoth-gilead; to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; to him also pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brasen bars:

Ahinadab, sønn av Iddo, hadde Mahanaim.

Ahinadab the son of Iddo had Mahanaim:

Ahimaas var i Naftali; han tok også Basemat, Salomos datter, til hustru.

Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basmath the daughter of Solomon to wife:

Baana, sønn av Husjai, var i Asjer og i Alot.

Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth:

Josjafat, sønn av Parua, var i Jissakar.

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar:

Sjime'i, sønn av Ela, var i Benjamin.

Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin:

Geber, sønn av Uri, var i landet Gilead, i landet til Sihon, kongen av amorittene, og til Og, kongen av Basan; og han var den eneste embetsmannen i landet.

Geber the son of Uri was in the country of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer which was in the land.

Juda og Israel var mange, som sanden ved havet i mengde, og de spiste og drakk og frydet seg.

Judah and Israel were many, as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking, and making merry.

Salomo hersket over alle riker fra elven til filistrenes land, og til grensen av Egypt. De kom med gaver og tjente Salomo alle hans livsdager.

And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

Salomos forsyninger for én dag var tretti mål fint mel, og seksti mål vanlig mel,

And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

ti fete okser og tjue okser fra beitene, og hundre sauer, i tillegg til hjorter, rådyr, og fettedyr, og oppfylte fugler.

Ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and an hundred sheep, beside harts, and roebucks, and fallowdeer, and fatted fowl.

For han hadde herredømme over hele området på denne siden av elven, fra Tifsah til Gaza, over alle kongene på denne siden av elven. Og han hadde fred på alle sider rundt seg.

For he had dominion over all the region on this side the river, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the river: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

Og Juda og Israel bodde trygt, hver mann under sin egen vinranke og fikenstrær, fra Dan til Beer-Sjeba, alle Salomos dager.

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.

Salomo hadde førti tusen stallplasser for hestene til sine stridsvogner, og tolv tusen ryttere.

And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

Og disse embetsmennene sørget for forsyninger til kong Salomo og til alle som kom til kong Salomos bord, hver mann i sin måned; de manglet ingenting.

And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon's table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

Salomos visdom overgikk visdommen til alle folkene i øst og all visdommen i Egypt.

And Solomon's wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

For han var visere enn alle mennesker; visere enn Etan, Esrahitten, og Heman, Kalkol, og Darda, Mahols sønner; og hans berømmelse var i alle nasjoner rundt omkring.

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

Han talte tre tusen ordspråk, og sangene hans var tusen og fem.

And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

Og han talte om trær, fra sedertrærne i Libanon til isopen som springer ut av veggen; han talte også om dyr, fugler, krypdyr og fisker.

And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

Fra alle folk kom de for å høre Salomos visdom, fra alle jordens konger som hadde hørt om hans visdom.

And there came of all people to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, which had heard of his wisdom.
