Hør dette ordet som Herren har talt mot dere, Israels barn, mot hele familien som jeg førte opp fra landet Egypt, og sa,

Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole fily which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

Bare dere har jeg kjent blant alle jordens slekter; derfor vil jeg straffe dere for alle deres synder.

You only have I known of all the filies of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

Kan to vandre sammen uten at de er enige?

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

Vil en løve brøle i skogen uten å ha fanget bytte? Vil en ung løve rope fra hulen sin dersom den ikke har tatt noe?

Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?

Kan en fugl falle i en snare på jorden der det ikke er satt en felle for den? Vil noen ta opp en snare fra jorden uten å ha fanget noe som helst?

Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?

Vil en basun bli blåst i byen uten at folket blir redde? Vil det skje ulykke i en by uten at Herren har forårsaket det?

Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

Sannelig, Gud Herren vil ikke gjøre noe uten at han åpenbarer sitt råd for sine tjenere profetene.

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Løven har brølt, hvem vil ikke frykte? Herren Gud har talt, hvem kan annet enn å profetere?

The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?

Forkynn i palassene i Asjdod, og i palassene i Egypts land, og si: Samle dere på Samarias fjell, se de store opprørene i hennes midte, og de undertrykte i hennes midte.

Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Saria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.

De vet ikke å gjøre rett, sier Herren, de som samler opp vold og ran i sine palasser.

For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

Derfor sier Herren Gud: En fiende skal omringe landet ditt, og han skal ta bort din makt fra deg, og dine palasser skal bli plyndret.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

Så sier Herren: Som en hyrde river ut av løvens gap to ben eller en flik av et øre, slik skal Israels barn bli frarøvet de som bor i Samaria i en krog av en seng og i Damaskus på en sofa.

Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Saria in the corner of a bed, and in Dascus in a couch.

Hør og vitne mot Jakobs hus, sier Herren Gud, hærskarenes Gud,

Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,

at den dagen jeg straffer Israel for hans overtredelser, vil jeg også straffe Betels altere; og alterets horn skal bli avhogd og falle til jorden.

That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Beth-el: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

Jeg vil slå både vinterhuset og sommerhuset, og elfenbenshusene skal gå til grunne, og de store husene skal få en ende, sier Herren.

And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.
