På den tiden sa Herren til meg: Hugg to steintavler som de første, og kom opp til meg på fjellet, og lag en ark av tre.

At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood.

Og jeg vil skrive på tavlene de ordene som var på de første tavlene, som du brøt, og du skal legge dem i arken.

And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.

Så jeg laget en ark av akasietre, og hugde to steintavler som de første, og gikk opp på fjellet med de to tavlene i hånden.

And I ma an ark of shittim wood, and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first, and went up into the mount, having the two tables in mine hand.

Og han skrev på tavlene, etter den første skriften, de ti budene, som Herren hadde talt til dere på fjellet ut av ilden den dagen folk var samlet; og Herren ga dem til meg.

And he wrote on the tables, according to the first writing, the ten commandments, which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly: and the LORD gave them unto me.

Og jeg snudde meg og gikk ned fra fjellet, og la tavlene i arken som jeg hadde laget; og der er de, slik Herren hadde befalt meg.

And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had ma; and there they be, as the LORD command me.

Og Israels barn dro fra Beeroth Bene-Jaakan til Mosera: der døde Aron, og der ble han gravlagt; og Eleazar, hans sønn, gjorde prestetjeneste i hans sted.

And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera: there Aaron died, and there he was buried; and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest's office in his stead.

Derfra dro de til Gudgodah, og fra Gudgodah til Jotbatha, et land med vannrike bekker.

From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah; and from Gudgodah to Jotbath, a land of rivers of waters.

På den tiden skilte Herren ut Levis stamme til å bære Herrens paktsark, for å stå foran Herren og gjøre tjeneste for ham, og for å velsigne i hans navn, frem til denne dag.

At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD, to stand before the LORD to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

Derfor har Levi ingen del eller arv med sine brødre; Herren er hans arv, slik Herren din Gud lovet ham.

Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the LORD is his inheritance, according as the LORD thy God promised him.

Og jeg ble på fjellet, som den første gangen, i førti dager og førti netter; og Herren lyttet til meg også den gangen, og Herren ville ikke ødelegge dere.

And I stayed in the mount, according to the first time, forty days and forty nights; and the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also, and the LORD would not stroy thee.

Og Herren sa til meg: Stå opp, led folket slik at de kan gå inn og ta i eie landet, som jeg sverget til deres fedre å gi dem.

And the LORD said unto me, Arise, take thy journey before the people, that they may go in and possess the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them.

Og nå, Israel, hva krever Herren din Gud av deg, annet enn å frykte Herren din Gud, å vandre på alle hans veier, å elske ham og tjene Herren din Gud av hele ditt hjerte og av hele din sjel,

And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

og holde Herrens bud og hans forskrifter, som jeg befaler deg i dag, til ditt eget beste?

To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?

Se, himmelen og himlenes himmel tilhører Herren din Gud, jordkloden også, med alt som er på den.

Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD'S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.

Kun Herren hadde glede i dine fedre, slik at han elsket dem, og valgte deres etterkommere etter dem, dere fremfor alle folk, slik det er i dag.

Only the LORD had a light in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

Omskjær derfor deres hjertes forhuder, og vær ikke stivnakket lenger.

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.

For Herren deres Gud er Gud over alle guder og Herre over alle herrer, en stor Gud, mektig og fryktinngytende, som ikke gjør forskjell på folk eller tar imot bestikkelse.

For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regarth not persons, nor taketh reward:

Han sørger for rettferdighet for de farløse og enker, og elsker den fremmede, og gir ham mat og klær.

He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.

Derfor skal dere elske den fremmede, for dere var selv fremmede i Egypts land.

Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Du skal frykte Herren din Gud; ham skal du tjene, og ham skal du holde deg nær til, og ved hans navn skal du sverge.

Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

Han er din lovsang, og han er din Gud, som gjorde for deg disse store og fryktinngytende gjerningene, som dine øyne har sett.

He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen.

Dine fedre dro ned til Egypt med sytti personer, men nå har Herren din Gud gjort deg tallrik som stjernene på himmelen.

Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now the LORD thy God hath ma thee as the stars of heaven for multitu.
