Derfor skal du elske Herren din Gud og holde hans påbud, forskrifter, lover og bud til enhver tid.

Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.

Og vit dette i dag: for jeg taler ikke til dine barn, som ikke har kjent til det og ikke har sett Herrens din Guds tukt, hans storhet, hans mektige hånd og utstrakte arm,

And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,

og de miraklene og handlingene han gjorde midt i Egypt, mot farao, kongen av Egypt, og mot hele hans land;

And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;

og hva han gjorde med hæren til Egypt, med deres hester og deres stridsvogner; hvordan han lot vannet i Rødehavet strømme over dem mens de forfulgte dere, og hvordan Herren ødela dem den dag i dag;

And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he ma the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath stroyed them unto this day;

og hva han gjorde med dere i ørkenen, inntil dere kom til dette stedet;

And what he did unto you in the wilrness, until ye came into this place;

og hva han gjorde med Datan og Abiram, sønnene til Eliab, sønnen til Ruben: hvordan jorden åpnet seg og slukte dem, deres husfolk, deres telt og alt de eide, midt blant hele Israel;

And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:

men deres øyne har sett alle de store gjerningene Herren har gjort.

But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.

Derfor skal dere holde alle budene jeg pålegger dere i dag, for at dere skal være sterke og gå inn og ta det landet i eie som dere skal erobre;

Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;

og for at dere skal leve lenge i det landet som Herren sverget til deres fedre at han ville gi dem og deres etterkommere, et land som flyter av melk og honning.

And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

For landet du skal inn i for å ta i eie, er ikke som Egypt, som du dro ut fra, der du sådde ditt frø og vannet det ved hjelp av foten som man vanner en hage av urter;

For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garn of herbs:

men landet du går for å eie, er et land av åser og daler og får vann fra regnet fra himmelen.

But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:

Et land som Herren din Gud bryr seg om; Herrens din Guds øyne hviler alltid på det, fra årets begynnelse til årets slutt.

A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

Det skal skje om dere nøye lytter til mine bud som jeg pålegger dere i dag, å elske Herren deres Gud og tjene ham av hele deres hjerte og av hele deres sjel,

And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

at jeg vil gi landet deres regn i rett tid, både høstregnet og vårregnet, så du kan samle inn ditt korn, din vin og din olje.

That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.

Og jeg vil sende gress på markene dine for buskapen din, så du kan spise og bli mett.

And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.

Vær på vakt så dere ikke lar hjertene deres bli forført, så dere vender dere bort og tjener andre guder og tilber dem;

Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not ceived, and ye turn asi, and serve other gods, and worship them;

da vil Herrens vrede flamme opp mot dere, og han vil lukke himmelen så det ikke kommer regn, og jorden ikke gir avlingen sin, og dere vil snart bli utryddet fra det gode landet som Herren gir dere.

And then the LORD'S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.

Derfor skal dere legge disse ordene mine på hjertet og sjelen deres og binde dem som et tegn på hånden deres, for å ha dem som et minne mellom øynene deres.

Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.

Dere skal lære dem til barna deres, tale om dem når du sitter hjemme, når du går på veien, når du legger deg og når du står opp.

And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Og du skal skrive dem på dørstolpene i huset ditt og på portene dine,

And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:

for at deres dager og dagen til barna deres i det landet som Herren sverget til deres fedre å gi dem, skal bli mange, slik som himlenes dager over jorden.

That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

For hvis dere trofast holder alle disse budene som jeg pålegger dere å følge, for å elske Herren deres Gud, vandre på alle hans veier og holde fast ved ham,

For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;

vil Herren drive ut alle disse nasjonene for dere, og dere skal ta nasjoner som er større og mektigere enn dere i eie.

Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.

Hvert sted hvor deres fot trår, skal bli deres: fra ørkenen til Libanon, fra elven, elven Eufrat, helt til havets yttergrense, skal være deres land.

Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilrness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.

Ingen skal kunne stå imot dere, for Herren deres Gud vil legge frykten for dere og redselen for dere på alt land dere tråkker på, slik han har lovet dere.

There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.

Se, jeg legger i dag frem for dere velsignelse og forbannelse;

Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;

velsignelse, hvis dere adlyder Herrens deres Guds bud som jeg pålegger dere i dag;

A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:

og forbannelse, hvis dere ikke adlyder Herrens deres Guds bud, men vender dere bort fra veien jeg nå befaler dere, for å følge andre guder som dere ikke har kjent.

And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn asi out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

Det skal skje, når Herren din Gud har ført deg inn i det landet du skal ta i eie, at du skal legge velsignelsen på fjellet Gerisim og forbannelsen på fjellet Ebal.

And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.

Er de ikke på den andre siden av Jordan, ved veien der solen går ned, i Kanaans land, der kanaanittene bor på slettene overfor Gilgal, ved Morehs hjerte?

Are they not on the other si Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the champaign over against Gilgal, besi the plains of Moreh?

For dere skal gå over Jordan for å komme inn og ta landet som Herren deres Gud gir dere, og dere skal ta det i eie og bo der.

For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.

Og dere skal følge alle forskriftene og lovene som jeg legger frem for dere i dag.

And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.
