Dette er forskriftene og dommene som dere skal holde i landet Herren, dine fedres Gud, gir deg til eiendom, alle dager dere lever på jorden.

These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.

Dere skal fullstendig ødelegge alle stedene der de folkene dere driver ut har dyrket sine guder, på de høye fjellene, på haugene og under hvert grønt tre.

Ye shall utterly stroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and unr every green tree:

Dere skal rive ned alterene deres, bryte ned steinsøylene deres, brenne deres lundene med ild; dere skal hogge ned de utskårne bildene av deres guder, og utslette navnene deres fra det stedet.

And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and stroy the names of them out of that place.

Slik skal dere ikke gjøre med Herren deres Gud.

Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God.

Men til det stedet som Herren deres Gud skal velge ut blant alle stammene deres for å la sitt navn bo der, dit skal dere søke, og dit skal dere komme.

But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:

Og dit skal dere bringe brennofferene deres, ofrene deres, tiendene deres, offeret som løftes av deres hånd, løftene deres, frivillige offerene deres, og de førstefødte av buskapen deres og småfeet deres.

And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks:

Der skal dere spise foran Herren deres Gud, og dere skal glede dere over alt dere gjør, dere og husholdningene deres, der Herren deres Gud har velsignet dere.

And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee.

Dere skal ikke gjøre som vi gjør her i dag, hvor enhver gjør det som er rett i sine egne øyne.

Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

For dere har ennå ikke kommet til hvilen og til den arven som Herren deres Gud gir dere.

For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.

Men når dere krysser Jordan og bosetter dere i landet som Herren deres Gud gir dere til arv, og når han gir dere hvile fra alle fiendene deres rundt omkring, slik at dere bor trygt,

But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

da skal det være et sted som Herren deres Gud skal velge for å la sitt navn bo der; dit skal dere bringe alt det jeg befaler dere: brennofferene deres, ofrene deres, tiendene deres, offeret som løftes av deres hånd og alle deres utvalgte løfter som dere lover Herren.

Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:

Der skal dere glede dere foran Herren deres Gud, dere og deres sønner og døtre, deres tjenere og tjenestepiker, og levitten som er innenfor portene deres, for han har ingen del eller arv sammen med dere.

And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.

Vær nøye med at du ikke ofrer dine brennoffer på ethvert sted du ser.

Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:

Men i det stedet som Herren skal velge ut blant stammene dine, der skal du ofre dine brennoffer, og der skal du gjøre alt det jeg befaler deg.

But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

Likevel kan du slakte og spise kjøtt innenfor dine porter, så mye som din sjel ønsker, etter Herrens din Guds velsignelse som han har gitt deg: både den urene og rene kan spise av det, som av gasellen og hjorten.

Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, and as of the hart.

Bare dere må ikke spise blodet; dere skal helle det ut på jorden som vann.

Only ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water.

Du får ikke spise innenfor dine porter tienden av kornet ditt, eller av vinen, eller av oljen, eller de førstefødte av buskapen din eller småfeet ditt, heller ikke noen av dine løfter som du lover, eller dine frivilige offer, eller offeret som løftes av din hånd.

Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand:

Men du må spise dem foran Herren din Gud i det stedet som Herren din Gud skal velge ut, du og din sønn og datter, din tjener og tjenestepike, og levitten som er innenfor dine porter, og du skal glede deg foran Herren din Gud over alt du gjør.

But thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto.

Vær nøye med å ikke forsømme levitten så lenge du lever på jorden.

Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth.

Når Herren din Gud utvider ditt land, slik han har lovet deg, og du sier: "Jeg vil spise kjøtt," fordi din sjel lengter etter å spise kjøtt, kan du spise så mye kjøtt som din sjel ønsker.

When the LORD thy God shall enlarge thy borr, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.

Hvis det stedet som Herren din Gud har valgt å sette sitt navn der, er for langt borte fra deg, så skal du slakte av buskapen din og småfeet ditt som Herren har gitt deg, slik jeg har befalt deg, og du kan spise innenfor dine porter, så mye som din sjel ønsker.

If the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which the LORD hath given thee, as I have command thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.

Som gasellen og hjorten blir spist, slik kan du spise dem: både den urene og rene kan spise av dem.

Even as the roebuck and the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat them: the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike.

Gjør bare sikkert at du ikke spiser blodet; for blodet er livet, og du må ikke spise livet med kjøttet.

Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.

Du skal ikke spise det; du skal helle det ut på jorden som vann.

Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water.

Du skal ikke spise det, slik at det kan gå deg godt, og dine barn etter deg, når du gjør det som er rett i Herrens øyne.

Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

Bare de hellige tingene du har, og dine løfter, skal du ta med til det stedet som Herren skal velge.

Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the LORD shall choose:

Og du skal ofre dine brennoffer, kjøttet og blodet, på Herrens din Guds alter, og blodet fra dine offer skal helles ut på Herrens din Guds alter, men kjøttet skal du spise.

And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.

Hold og lytt til alle disse ordene som jeg befaler deg, så det kan gå deg godt og dine barn etter deg for alltid, når du gjør det som er godt og rett i Herrens din Guds øyne.

Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.

Når Herren din Gud ødelegger de nasjonene foran deg, der du går for å ta deres land, og du etterfølger dem og bor i deres land;

When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeest them, and dwellest in their land;

Vær nøye med å ikke bli fanget av å følge dem, etter at de er blitt ødelagt fra ditt ansikt, og at du ikke spør etter deres guder, og sier: "Hvordan tjente disse nasjonene sine guder? Likeledes vil jeg gjøre."

Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be stroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

Slik skal du ikke gjøre mot Herren din Gud, for alt Herren hater, har de gjort mot sine guder; for til og med sine sønner og døtre har de brent i ilden til sine guder.

Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

Hva enn jeg befaler dere, skal dere gjøre; du skal ikke legge noe til, eller trekke noe fra det.

What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
