Dere er barn av Herren deres Gud. Dere skal ikke skjære dere selv eller lage noen skallet flekk på hodet mellom øynene for noen døde.

Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the ad.

For du er et hellig folk for Herren din Gud, og Herren har utvalgt deg til å være et spesielt folk for seg selv, over alle folkene på jordens overflate.

For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

Du skal ikke spise noe som er avskyelig.

Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

Dette er dyrene dere kan spise: oksen, sauen og geiten,

These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,

hjorten, gasellen, dåhjorten, villgeiten, steinbukken, villoksen og gemsen.

The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow er, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the wild ox, and the chamois.

Og alle dyr som har kløyvete hover og tygger drøv, dem kan dere spise.

And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.

Men disse skal dere ikke spise av dem som tygger drøv eller har kløyvete hover: kamelen, haren og klippegrevlingen, for selv om de tygger drøv, har de ikke kløyvet hov; de er urene for dere.

Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divi the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divi not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.

Og svinet, for det har kløyvete hover, men tygger ikke drøv; det er urent for dere. Dere skal ikke spise kjøttet deres eller røre de døde kroppene deres.

And the swine, because it divith the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their ad carcase.

Dette kan dere spise av alt som er i vannet: alt som har finner og skjell kan dere spise.

These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:

Men alt som ikke har finner og skjell skal dere ikke spise; det er urent for dere.

And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

Av alle rene fugler kan dere spise.

Of all clean birds ye shall eat.

Men disse er dem dere ikke skal spise: ørnen, gribben og glenten,

But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

glenten, rødglenten og alle arter av gribber,

And the gle, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,

og alle arter av ravner,

And every raven after his kind,

uglen, natthauken, måken og alle arter av hauker,

And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,

lilleuglen, storeuglen og svanen,

The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan,

pelikanen, åtselgribben og skarven,

And the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant,

storken, hegren, alle arter av hegrer, og hærfuglen og flaggermusen.

And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

Og alle små skapninger som flyr, er urene for dere; de skal ikke spises.

And every creeping thing that flieth is unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.

Men alle rene fugler kan dere spise.

But of all clean fowls ye may eat.

Dere skal ikke spise noe som dør av seg selv. Du kan gi det til den fremmede som er innenfor byportene dine, så han kan spise det, eller du kan selge det til en utlending. For du er et hellig folk for Herren din Gud. Du skal ikke koke et kje i morens melk.

Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

Du skal sannelig gi tiende av all avgrøde fra markene dine, som de bærer fram hvert år.

Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

Og du skal spise for Herrens din Guds ansikt, på stedet han velger for sitt navn, tienden av kornet ditt, vinen og oljen din, og førstefødte av buskapen og småfeet ditt, så du kan lære å frykte Herren din Gud for alltid.

And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.

Men hvis veien er for lang for deg, slik at du ikke klarer å bære det, eller hvis stedet er for langt fra deg, hvor Herren din Gud velger å sette sitt navn, når Herren din Gud har velsignet deg,

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:

da skal du veksle det inn i penger, knytte penger sammen i hånden din, og dra til stedet som Herren din Gud velger.

Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:

Og du skal bruke pengene til det ditt hjerte begjærer, for okser, eller sauer, eller vin, eller sterk drikk, eller hva ditt hjerte ønsker. Og du skal spise der for Herrens din Guds ansikt og glede deg, du og ditt hus.

And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul sireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,

Og levitten som er innenfor dine porter skal du ikke forlate, for han har ingen del eller arv med deg.

And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

Ved slutten av hvert tredje år skal du samle inn all tiende av avlingen din det året, og legge det opp innenfor portene dine.

At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:

Og levitten, fordi han ikke har noen del eller arv med deg, samt den fremmede, den farløse og enken som er innenfor portene dine, skal komme og spise seg mette, så Herren din Gud kan velsigne deg i alt arbeidet dine hender utfører.

And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.
