Når du kommer inn i det landet som Herren din Gud gir deg som arv, når du har tatt det i eie og bor der,

And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein;

da skal du ta de første fruktene av jorden som du henter fra landet som Herren din Gud gir deg, legge det i en kurv og gå til stedet som Herren din Gud vil velge ut for å sette sitt navn der.

That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there.

Du skal gå til presten som er der i de dager, og si til ham: «Jeg bekjenner i dag for Herren min Gud at jeg er kommet inn i det landet som Herren lovet våre fedre å gi oss.»

And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto the LORD thy God, that I am come unto the country which the LORD sware unto our fathers for to give us.

Presten skal ta kurven fra deg og sette den ned foran Herrens, din Guds, alter.

And the priest shall take the basket out of thine hand, and set it down before the altar of the LORD thy God.

Så skal du si fram for Herren din Gud: «Min far var en arameer som sto i ferd med å omkomme, men han dro ned til Egypt og bodde der som fremmed med få folk, og der ble han til et stort, mektig og tallrikt folk.

And thou shalt speak and say before the LORD thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:

Egyptene behandlet oss ondt, plaget oss og påla oss hardt arbeid.

And the Egyptians evil entreated us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage:

Men da ropte vi til Herren, våre fedres Gud, og Herren hørte vår røst, og han så vår lidelse, vårt slit og vår undertrykkelse.

And when we cried unto the LORD God of our fathers, the LORD heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression:

Så førte Herren oss ut av Egypt med sterk hånd og utstrakt arm, med stor uhygge, med tegn og under.

And the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonrs:

Han førte oss til dette stedet og ga oss dette landet, et land som flyter med melk og honning.’»

And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, even a land that floweth with milk and honey.

Nå har jeg brakt de første fruktene av jorden som du, Herre, har gitt meg. Du skal sette det ned for Herren din Gud og tilbe Herren din Gud.

And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O LORD, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the LORD thy God, and worship before the LORD thy God:

Så skal du glede deg over alt det gode som Herren din Gud har gitt deg og ditt hus, du og levitten og innflytteren som er hos deg.

And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the Levite, and the stranger that is among you.

Når du er ferdig med å gi en tiendedel av hele avlingen din det tredje året, som er året for tienden, og har gitt det til levitten, innflytteren, den farløse og enken, så de kan spise det innenfor byportene dine og bli mette;

When thou hast ma an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;

da skal du si til Herren din Gud: «Jeg har tatt det hellige ut fra huset mitt og har også gitt det til levitten, innflytteren, den farløse og enken, alt etter hvor mye du har befalt meg. Jeg har ikke overtrådt dine bud og ikke glemt dem.

Then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast command me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:

Jeg har ikke spist noe av det i sorg, ikke fjernet noe av det mens jeg var uren, og ikke gitt noe av det for de døde. Jeg har lyttet til Herren min Guds stemme og gjort alt det du har befalt meg!

I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the ad: but I have hearkened to the voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to all that thou hast command me.

Se ned fra din hellige bolig, fra himmelen, og velsign ditt folk Israel og det landet du har gitt oss, slik du lovet våre fedre, et land som flyter med melk og honning.

Look down from thy holy habitation, from heaven, and bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

I dag befaler Herren din Gud deg å holde disse forskriftene og lovene. Du skal holde og følge dem av hele ditt hjerte og av hele din sjel.

This day the LORD thy God hath command thee to do these statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.

Du har i dag erklært at Herren skal være din Gud, at du skal vandre på hans veier og holde hans forskrifter, bud og lover, og lytte til hans røst.

Thou hast avouched the LORD this day to be thy God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and to hearken unto his voice:

Og Herren har i dag erklært at du skal være hans eiendomsfolk, slik som han har lovet deg, og at du skal holde alle hans bud.

And the LORD hath avouched thee this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised thee, and that thou shoulst keep all his commandments;

Han skal sette deg høyt over alle nasjoner som han har skapt, til pris, ry og ære, og at du skal være et hellig folk for Herren din Gud, slik han har talt.

And to make thee high above all nations which he hath ma, in praise, and in name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken.
