Moses gikk og talte disse ordene til hele Israel.

And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.

Han sa til dem: «Jeg er i dag hundre og tjue år gammel; jeg kan ikke lenger gå ut og inn, og Herren har sagt til meg: Du skal ikke krysse denne Jordan.

And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the LORD hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

Herren din Gud vil gå foran deg, og Han vil utslette disse nasjonene for deg, så du kan innta deres land. Josva skal gå foran deg, slik som Herren har sagt.

The LORD thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will stroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the LORD hath said.

Herren skal gjøre med dem som Han gjorde med Sihon og Og, amorittenes konger, og deres land, som Han utslettet.

And the LORD shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he stroyed.

Herren skal overgi dem til dere, og dere skal gjøre med dem i samsvar med alle de budene som jeg har gitt dere.

And the LORD shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have command you.

Vær sterke og modige, frykt ikke, og vær ikke redde for dem, for Herren din Gud går med deg. Han skal ikke svikte deg eller forlate deg.

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Så kalte Moses på Josva og sa til ham foran hele Israel: Vær sterk og modig, for du skal føre dette folket inn i det landet som Herren med ed lovet deres fedre å gi dem, og du skal gi dem det til arv.

And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

Herren selv går foran deg, Han vil være med deg. Han svikter deg ikke og forlater deg ikke. Frykt ikke og bli ikke motløs.

And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Moses skrev ned denne loven og ga den til prestene, Levis sønner, som bar Herrens paktsark, og til alle Israels eldste.

And Moses wrote this law, and livered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elrs of Israel.

Så befalte Moses dem og sa: Ved slutten av hvert sjuende år, i ettergivelsesåret, ved løvhyttefesten,

And Moses command them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

nid når hele Israel kommer for å vise seg for Herren din Gud på stedet han velger, da skal du lese denne loven for hele Israel så de hører det.

When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

Samle folket, menn, kvinner, barn og de fremmede som er innenfor dine porter, slik at de kan høre, lære å frykte Herren deres Gud, og følge alle ordene i denne loven.

Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:

Slik skal også deres barn, som ikke kjenner noe, høre og lære å frykte Herren deres Gud så lenge dere lever i det landet dere nå krysser Jordan for å ta i eie.

And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

Herren sa til Moses: «Dine dager nærmer seg slutten, du vil snart dø. Kall på Josva og still dere frem for meg i møteteltet, så jeg kan gi ham et oppdrag.» Moses og Josva gikk så og stilte seg i møteteltet.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

Herren viste seg i teltet i en skyens søyle, og skyens søyle sto ved inngangen til teltet.

And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.

Herren sa til Moses: «Se, du skal snart hvile hos dine forfedre, og dette folket vil forsake meg og følge fremmede guder i det landet de nå kommer til. De vil forlate meg og bryte den pakten jeg har inngått med dem.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have ma with them.

På den dagen vil min vrede flamme opp mot dem, og jeg vil forlate dem og skjule mitt ansikt for dem, og de vil bli ødelagt. Mange ulykker og trengsler vil ramme dem, og de skal si: 'Er ikke disse ondskapene kommet over oss fordi vår Gud ikke er blant oss?'

Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hi my face from them, and they shall be voured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?

Ja, jeg vil skjule mitt ansikt på den dagen for all den ondskapen de har gjort ved å vende seg til andre guder.

And I will surely hi my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.

Skriv derfor ned denne sangen og lær den opp for Israels barn, legg den i deres munn, så den kan være et vitne for meg mot Israels barn.

Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

Når jeg fører dem inn i det landet som jeg med ed lovet deres fedre, et land som flyter med melk og honning, og de har spist seg mette og blitt godt tilpass, da vil de vende seg til andre guder og dyrke dem, provosere meg og bryte min pakt.

For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.

Og når mange ulykker og trengsler rammer dem, vil denne sangen vitne mot dem, for den vil ikke bli glemt av deres etterkommere. Jeg kjenner jo deres planer selv før jeg har ført dem inn i det landet jeg lovet i ed.»

And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.

Så skrev Moses denne sangen samme dag og lærte den til Israels barn.

Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.

Han ga Josva, Nuns sønn, et oppdrag og sa: «Vær sterk og modig, for du skal føre Israels barn inn i det landet jeg med ed har lovet dem, og jeg vil være med deg.»

And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.

Da Moses hadde fullført å skrive ned ordene i denne loven i en bok, helt til de var ferdig,

And it came to pass, when Moses had ma an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,

befalte han levittene som bar Herrens paktsark, og sa:

That Moses command the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,

«Ta denne lovboken og legg den ved siden av Herrens paktsark, så den kan være et vitne mot dere.

Take this book of the law, and put it in the si of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

For jeg kjenner deres opprør og deres stahet. Se, selv mens jeg har levd blant dere, har dere vært opprørske mot Herren, og hvor mye mer etter min død?

For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my ath?

Samle derfor alle deres stammeeldste og embedsmenn til meg, så jeg kan tale disse ordene til dem og kalle himmel og jord til vitne mot dem.

Gather unto me all the elrs of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.

For jeg vet at etter min død vil dere fullstendig forderve dere selv og vike av fra veien jeg har befalt dere. Ulykker vil ramme dere i de siste dager fordi dere vil gjøre det som er ondt i Herrens øyne og vekke hans vrede ved deres henders verk.

For I know that after my ath ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn asi from the way which I have command you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

Så talte Moses ordene i denne sangen for hele Israels forsamling til de var fullført.

And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were end.
