Lytt, dere himler, og jeg vil tale; hør, du jord, ordene fra min munn.

Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

Min lære skal dryppe som regn, mitt budskap skal falle som dugg ved mild regn på gresset, og som regnskyll over engene.

My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the w, as the small rain upon the tenr herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

For jeg vil forkynne Herrens navn; gi vår Gud ære.

Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.

Han er Klippen, hans verk er fullkomment; alle hans veier er rettferdige. En trofast Gud uten urett, rettferdig og rettskaffen er han.

He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

De har fordervet seg selv; ikke er flekken deres hans barns flekk, de er en pervers og vrang generasjon.

They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation.

Gjør dere slik mot Herren, du tåpelige og uforstandige folk? Er han ikke din far som kjøpte deg? Han skapte deg og grunnfestet deg.

Do ye thus requite the LORD, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not ma thee, and established thee?

Husk de gamle dager, tenk på årene til mange slekter; spør din far, så vil han fortelle deg, dine eldste, og de vil si deg det.

Remember the days of old, consir the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elrs, and they will tell thee.

Da Den Høyeste ga folkene deres arv, da han skilte menneskebarnas grenser, satte han grensene for folket etter tallet på Israels barn.

When the most High divid to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

For Herrens del er hans folk; Jakob er hans arv.

For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

Han fant ham i et øde land, i ødemarkens ville hyl; han ledet ham, lærte ham, og beskyttet ham som sin øyesten.

He found him in a sert land, and in the waste howling wilrness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

Som en ørn vekker redet, flyer over sine unger, strekker ut vingene og tar dem, bærer dem på sine vinger,

As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreath abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:

så ledet Herren ham alene, og det var ingen fremmed gud med ham.

So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.

Han lot ham ri på jordens høyer, at han kunne spise markens grøde; han ga ham honning fra berget, og olje fra den faste klippe.

He ma him ri on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he ma him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;

Smør fra kuflokker og melk fra sauer, med fett av lam og værer av Bashans rase, og bukker, med fetningen av hvetens nyre; og du drakk den rene saften av druen.

Butter of kine, and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape.

Men Jesjurun ble fet og sparka; du ble fet, du ble tykk, du ble overmettet; og han forlot Gud som skapte ham, og foraktet sin frelses Klippe.

But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which ma him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

De vakte hans sjalusi med fremmede guder, med avskyeligheter vakte de ham til vrede.

They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

De ofret til demoner, ikke til Gud; til guder de ikke kjente, nye guder som nylig dukket opp, som dine fedre ikke fryktet.

They sacrificed unto vils, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not.

Klippen som fødte deg har du glemt, og Gud som formet deg har du glemt.

Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

Da Herren så det, avskydde han dem, fordi hans sønner og døtre utfordret ham.

And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.

Og han sa: Jeg vil skjule mitt ansikt for dem, jeg vil se hva deres ende blir; for dette er en vrang generasjon, barn i hvem det ikke er troskap.

And he said, I will hi my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.

De har gjort meg sjalu med det som ikke er noen gud; de har vakt meg til vrede med sine unyttige ting: og jeg vil gjøre dem sjalu med et folk som ikke er noe folk; jeg vil gjøre dem rasende med en tåpelig nasjon.

They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

For en ild er tent i min vrede, og skal brenne til det laveste dypet, og fortære jorden med hennes grøde, og sette fjellenes grunnvoller i brann.

For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

Jeg vil hoper ulykker over dem; jeg vil slippe mine piler mot dem.

I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.

De skal bli utsultet av hunger, fortæres av brennende hete, og av straffens bitre ødeleggelse; jeg vil også sende dyrenes tenner mot dem, med gift fra markens slanger.

They shall be burnt with hunger, and voured with burning heat, and with bitter struction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

Sverdet utenfor, og redselen innenfor, skal ødelegge både den unge mannen og jomfruen, barnet og den gamle mannen med grå hår.

The sword without, and terror within, shall stroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs.

Jeg sa: Jeg ville spre dem i hjørnene, jeg ville gjøre dem til ingen overlevende blant menneskene.

I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men:

Hvis jeg ikke hadde fryktet fiendens hån, skulle ikke deres motstandere si: Vår hånd har vært høy, og Herren har ikke gjort alt dette.

Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD hath not done all this.

For de er en nasjon uten råd, og det er ingen forståelse i dem.

For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any unrstanding in them.

Om de bare var kloke, ville de forstå dette, ville de tenke over sin ende!

O that they were wise, that they unrstood this, that they would consir their latter end!

Hvordan kan en forfølge tusen, og to jage ti tusen på flukt, uten at deres Klippe hadde forlatt dem, og Herren hadde overgitt dem?

How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?

For deres klippe er ikke som vår Klippe, selv om våre fiender dømmer det.

For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

For deres vinranke er av Sodom's vinranke, og Gomorras åkre: deres druer er druer av galle, deres klaser er bitre.

For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:

Deres vin er dragens gift, og den grusomme giften av aspis.

Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.

Er ikke dette lagt i forvaring hos meg, og forseglet inne blant mine skatter?

Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?

Hevnen og gjengjeldelsen er min; deres fot skal gli i sin tid: for dagen for deres ulykke er nær, og det som skal komme over dem, skynder seg.

To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall sli in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.

For Herren skal dømme sitt folk, og angre seg for sine tjenere, når han ser at deres kraft er borte, og det ingen stengt inne eller igjen.

For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.

Og han skal si: Hvor er deres guder, klippen i hvem de stolte på,

And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,

som spiste fett av deres ofre, og drakk vin av deres drikkeofre? La dem stå opp og beskytte dere, og være deres beskyttelse.

Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.

Se nå at jeg, selv jeg, er han, og det er ingen gud med meg: Jeg dreper, og jeg gjør levende; jeg sårer, og jeg helbreder: og det er ingen som kan fri ut av min hånd.

See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can liver out of my hand.

For jeg løfter min hånd til himmelen, og sier: Jeg lever for alltid.

For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.

Hvis jeg skjerper mitt glitrende sverd, og min hånd tar fatt på dom, jeg vil gjengjelde hevn til mine fiender, og belønne dem som hater meg.

If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will renr vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.

Jeg vil gjøre mine piler drukne av blod, og mitt sverd skal fortære kjøtt; med blodet fra de drepte og fangene, fra begynnelsen av hevnen mot fienden.

I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall vour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.

Gled dere, alle nasjoner, med hans folk; for han vil hevne blodet av sine tjenere, og vil gjengjelde hevn til sine motstandere, og vil være barmhjertig mot sitt land og sitt folk.

Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will renr vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.

Og Moses kom og talte alle ordene i denne sangen i folkets ører, han og Hosea, Nuns sønn.

And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshea the son of Nun.

Og Moses avsluttet hele denne talen til hele Israel.

And Moses ma an end of speaking all these words to all Israel:

Og han sa til dem: Legg alle disse ordene til hjertet, som jeg bevitner blant dere i dag, som dere skal pålegge deres barn å følge, alle ordene i denne loven.

And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.

For dette er ikke en tom sak for dere; det er deres liv: og ved dette kan dere forlenge deres dager i landet som dere skal over Jordan for å eie.

For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

Og Herren talte til Moses den samme dagen, og sa,

And the LORD spake unto Moses that selfsame day, saying,

Gå opp til denne Abarim-fjellet, til Nebo-fjellet, som ligger i Moabs land, overfor Jeriko; og se landet Kanaan, som jeg gir Israels barn som en eiendom.

Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:

Og dø på fjellet som du går opp til, og bli samlet til ditt folk; som din bror Aron døde på Horfjellet, og ble samlet til sitt folk.

And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:

Fordi dere forbrøt dere mot meg blant Israels barn ved Meriba-Kadesh-vannet, i ørkenen Zin; fordi dere ikke helliget meg blant Israels barn.

Because ye trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kash, in the wilrness of Zin; because ye sanctified me not in the midst of the children of Israel.

Likevel skal du se landet foran deg; men du skal ikke gå dit inn i landet som jeg gir Israels barn.

Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.
