Moses dro opp fra Moabs sletteland til Nebo-fjellet, til toppen av Pisga, som ligger rett overfor Jeriko. Der viste Herren ham hele landet fra Gilead til Dan,

And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,

og hele Naftali, Efraims land, Manasse, og hele Juda land, helt til det ytterste hav.

And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,

Samt sørlandet og slettelandet i Jeriko-dalen, palmebyen, til Soar.

And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.

Og Herren sa til ham: Dette er landet som jeg sverget å gi til Abraham, Isak og Jakob, og sa at jeg vil gi det til din ætt. Jeg har latt deg se det med dine øyne, men du skal ikke gå over dit.

And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

Så døde Moses, Herrens tjener, der i Moabs land, slik Herren hadde sagt.

So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.

Og han gravla ham i en dal i Moabs land, rett overfor Bet-Peor. Men ingen vet hvor hans gravsted er til denne dag.

And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Beth-peor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

Moses var hundre og tjue år gammel da han døde. Hans syn var ikke svekket, og han hadde fortsatt sin fulle kraft.

And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

Israels barn gråt over Moses på Moabs sletteland i tretti dager. Så var gråt- og sørgedagene over for Moses slutt.

And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were end.

Josva, Nuns sønn, var fylt av visdoms ånd, for Moses hadde lagt sine hender på ham. Israels barn lyttet til ham og gjorde som Herren hadde befalt Moses.

And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD command Moses.

Det har ikke oppstått en profet siden i Israel lik Moses, som Herren kjente ansikt til ansikt,

And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

i alle de tegn og undere som Herren sendte ham til å gjøre i Egyptens land, for farao, alle hans tjenere og hele hans land,

In all the signs and the wonrs, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,

og i all den mektige kraft og i all den store redsel som Moses viste for hele Israels folk.

And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.
