Og Herren sa til Moses: Hugg deg ut to steintavler lik de første, så skal jeg skrive på disse tavlene de ordene som stod på de første tavlene, som du knuste.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest.

Vær klar om morgenen, og stig opp tidlig på morgenen til fjellet Sinai, og stå der for meg på toppmøtet på fjellet.

And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.

Ingen må komme opp med deg, og ingen må sees på hele fjellet; heller ikke skal sauene eller storfeet beite foran dette fjellet.

And no man shall come up with thee, neither let any man be seen throughout all the mount; neither let the flocks nor herds feed before that mount.

Så hugget Moses ut to steintavler lik de første; og han sto opp tidlig om morgenen, og gikk opp til fjellet Sinai, som Herren hadde befalt ham, og tok med seg de to steintavlene.

And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.

Og Herren steg ned i skyen, sto sammen med ham der, og utropte Herrens navn.

And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.

Herren gikk forbi ham og utropte: Herren, Herren Gud, barmhjertig og nådig, langmodig og rik på godhet og sannhet,

And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

som holder nåde for tusener, tilgir misgjerning og synd, men som ikke på noen måte vil holde de skyldige uskyldige; som hjemsøker fedrenes misgjerning på barna og på barnebarna til tredje og fjerde ledd.

Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

Da skyndte Moses seg, bøyde hodet mot jorden og tilba.

And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped.

Og han sa: Har jeg funnet nåde for dine øyne, Herre, ber jeg deg, la Herren bli med oss; for det er et hardnakket folk; og tilgi vår misgjerning og vår synd, og ta oss til din arv.

And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.

Og Herren sa: Se, jeg inngår en pakt. Overfor hele ditt folk vil jeg gjøre underfulle ting, som ikke har vært gjort noe sted på jorden eller i noen nasjon; og hele folket blant hvilke du er, skal se Herrens verk; for det er en fryktinngytende ting jeg vil gjøre med deg.

And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.

Legg merke til det jeg befaler deg i dag: se, jeg driver ut for deg amorittene, kanaanittene, hetittene, perisittene, hivittene og jebusittene.

Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

Vær oppmerksom, så du ikke inngår noen pakt med innbyggerne i landet der du skal gå, for at det ikke skal bli en snare for deg.

Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee:

Men dere skal ødelegge deres altrer, knuse deres billedstøtter, og hogge ned deres lunder.

But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:

For du skal ikke tilbe noen annen gud; for Herren, hvis navn er Nidkjær, er en nidkjær Gud.

For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

La ikke inngå noen pakt med dem som bor i landet, eller de kan besnære deg til avgudsdyrkelse og ofre til sine guder, og en kan innby deg til å spise av hans offer;

Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;

Og du kan ta deres døtre til dine sønner, og deres døtre kan lokke dine sønner til å dyrke sine guder.

And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.

Du skal ikke lage deg støpte guder.

Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.

Du skal holde de usyrede brøds høytid. I syv dager skal du spise usyret brød, som jeg har befalt deg, på den tiden av måneden Abib; for i måneden Abib dro du ut fra Egypt.

The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.

Alt som åpner morslivet, tilhører meg; alt førstefødt av storfeet ditt eller småfeet ditt, som er hannkjønn.

All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.

Men førstefødt av esel skal du løse med et lam; og om du ikke løser det, skal du bryte nakken på det. Alle førstefødte blant dine sønner skal du løse. Ingen skal komme tomhendt for mitt åsyn.

But the firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb: and if thou redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.

Seks dager skal du arbeide, men på den syvende skal du hvile; når du pløyer og når du høster, skal du hvile.

Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.

Og du skal holde ukefesten, førstefrugtene av hvetehøsten, og høstfesten ved årets utgang.

And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.

Tre ganger i året skal alle dine menn vise seg for Herren Gud, Israels Gud.

Thrice in the year shall all your men children appear before the Lord GOD, the God of Israel.

For jeg vil drive ut folkeslag for deg, og utvide dine grenser; ingen skal begjære ditt land når du går opp for å vise deg for Herren din Gud tre ganger i året.

For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year.

Du skal ikke ofre blodet av mitt offer med syret brød; heller ikke skal offeret av påskehøytiden bli liggende til morgenen.

Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.

Det første av jordens førstegrøde skal du bringe til Herrens, din Guds, hus. Du skal ikke koke et kje i dets mors melk.

The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.

Og Herren sa til Moses: Skriv ned disse ordene; for i henhold til disse ordene har jeg inngått en pakt med deg og med Israel.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.

Og han var der med Herren i førti dager og førti netter; han verken spiste brød eller drakk vann. Og han skrev på tavlene ordlyden av pakten, de ti bud.

And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

Og da Moses kom ned fra Sinai-fjellet med vitnesbyrdets to tavler i hånden, visste han ikke at hans ansikts hud lyste mens han talte med ham.

And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.

Da Aron og alle Israels barn så Moses, se, hans ansikts hud lyste; og de var redde for å nærme seg ham.

And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him.

Men Moses ropte på dem; og Aron og alle menighetens høvdinger vendte tilbake til ham; og Moses talte med dem.

And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them.

Deretter kom alle Israels barn nær; og han gav dem alle budene som Herren hadde talt med ham på Sinai-fjellet.

And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai.

Og mens Moses talte til dem, la han et slør over ansiktet sitt.

And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face.

Men når Moses gikk inn for å tale med Herren, tok han av sløret, inntil han kom ut. Og han kom ut og talte til Israels barn det som var blitt befalt ham.

But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded.

Israels barn så Moses' ansikt, at Moses' ansikts hud lyste: da la Moses sløret over ansiktet igjen, inntil han gikk inn for å tale med ham.

And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.
