Og Herren sa til Moses: Se, jeg har gjort deg som en gud for farao, og din bror Aron skal være din profet.

And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

Du skal si alt jeg befaler deg, og Aron, din bror, skal tale til farao, slik at han lar Israels barn dra ut av sitt land.

Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land.

Og jeg vil gjøre faraos hjerte hardt og øke mine tegn og under i Egyptens land.

And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

Men farao skal ikke høre på dere, så jeg kan legge min hånd på Egypt og føre fram mine hærer, mitt folk Israels barn, ut av Egyptens land med store dommer.

But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, that I may lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth mine armies, and my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.

Og egypterne skal kjenne at jeg er Herren, når jeg rekker ut min hånd over Egypt og fører Israels barn ut fra blant dem.

And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I stretch forth mine hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.

Så gjorde Moses og Aron som Herren hadde befalt dem.

And Moses and Aaron did as the LORD commanded them, so did they.

Og Moses var åtti år gammel, og Aron åtti tre år gammel, da de talte til farao.

And Moses was fourscore years old, and Aaron fourscore and three years old, when they spake unto Pharaoh.

Og Herren talte til Moses og Aron og sa:

And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

Når farao sier til dere: Vis et tegn for dere, da skal du si til Aron: Ta din stav og kast den foran farao, og den skal bli til en slange.

When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.

Så gikk Moses og Aron inn til farao og gjorde som Herren hadde befalt. Aron kastet staven foran farao og hans tjenere, og den ble til en slange.

And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

Da kalte farao også på de vise menn og trollmenn. Og disse egyptiske trollmennene gjorde det samme med sine hemmelige kunster.

Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

De kastet alle sine staver, og de ble til slanger, men Arons stav slukte deres staver.

For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

Og Herren gjorde faraos hjerte hardt, slik at han ikke hørte på dem, akkurat som Herren hadde sagt.

And he hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

Og Herren sa til Moses: Faraos hjerte er blitt hardt, han nekter å la folket dra.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.

Gå til farao om morgenen; se, han går ut til vannet, og du skal stå ved elvebredden når han kommer, og ta staven som ble til en slange i hånden.

Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morning; lo, he goeth out unto the water; and thou shalt stand by the river's brink against he come; and the rod which was turned to a serpent shalt thou take in thine hand.

Og du skal si til ham: Herren, hebreernes Gud, har sendt meg til deg og sagt: La mitt folk dra, så de kan tjene meg i ørkenen. Men hittil har du ikke lyttet.

And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.

Så sier Herren: Ved dette skal du vite at jeg er Herren. Se, jeg vil slå vannet i elven med staven i min hånd, og det skal bli til blod.

Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.

Og fisken i elven skal dø, og elven skal stinke, og egypterne skal hate å drikke vannet i elven.

And the fish that is in the river shall die, and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall lothe to drink of the water of the river.

Og Herren sa til Moses: Si til Aron: Ta din stav og strekk ut din hånd over vannet i Egypt, over elvene, over kanalene, over dammene og over alle vannreservoarene, så de blir til blod, og så det blir blod i hele Egyptens land, både i trekar og steinkar.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.

Moses og Aron gjorde som Herren hadde befalt. Aron løftet opp staven og slo vannet i elven foran farao og hans tjenere, og alt vannet i elven ble til blod.

And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD commanded; and he lifted up the rod, and smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh, and in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were turned to blood.

Fisken i elven døde; elven stank, og egypterne kunne ikke drikke vannet derfra. Det var blod i hele Egyptens land.

And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river; and there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.

Og de egyptiske trollmennene gjorde det samme med sine hemmelige kunster, og faraos hjerte ble hardt, og han hørte ikke på dem, slik Herren hadde sagt.

And the magicians of Egypt did so with their enchantments: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, neither did he hearken unto them; as the LORD had said.

Farao snudde seg og gikk inn i huset sitt, og brydde seg ikke om dette heller.

And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also.

Og alle egypterne gravde rundt elven etter drikkevann, for de kunne ikke drikke elvevannet.

And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.

Og syv dager gikk etter at Herren hadde slått elven.

And seven days were fulfilled, after that the LORD had smitten the river.
