Herrens ord kom til meg og sa,

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Menneskesønn, vend ansiktet mot Se'ir-fjellet og profeter mot det.

Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

Og si til det: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, Se'ir-fjellet, jeg er imot deg. Jeg vil strekke ut min hånd mot deg og gjøre deg til en ødemark.

And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.

Jeg vil legge dine byer i ruiner, og du skal bli ødelagt. Da skal du vite at jeg er Herren.

I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.

Fordi du har hatt et evig hat og har utøst blod fra Israels barn med sverdet i den tid de var i nød, i tiden da deres misgjerning hadde nådd sitt ende,

Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time that their iniquity had an end:

derfor, så sant jeg lever, sier Herren Gud, vil jeg la blod forfølge deg; siden du ikke hatet blod, skal blod forfølge deg.

Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.

Jeg vil gjøre Se'ir-fjellet til en stor ødemark og utrydde dem som går gjennom det, og dem som vender tilbake.

Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.

Jeg vil fylle fjellene med de drepte mennene dine; på dine hauger, i dine daler og i alle dine elver skal de falle, de som er drept med sverdet.

And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.

Jeg vil gjøre deg til en evig ødemark, og dine byer skal aldri bli gjenoppbygd. Da skal dere vite at jeg er Herren.

I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Fordi du har sagt: Disse to folkene og disse to landene skal bli mine, og vi skal eie dem - enda Herren var der -

Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:

derfor, så sant jeg lever, sier Herren Gud, vil jeg gjøre med deg etter din vrede og ditt hat som du har utøvd mot dem i misunnelse. Jeg vil åpenbare meg blant dem når jeg dømmer deg.

Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.

Da skal du innse at jeg er Herren, og at jeg har hørt alle de blasfemiske ordene du har talt mot Israels fjell og sagt: De er lagt øde og er gitt oss til å fortære.

And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.

Med din munn har du skrytt mot meg, og du har mangedoblet dine ord mot meg. Jeg har hørt dem.

Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

Så sier Herren Gud: Når hele verden gleder seg, vil jeg gjøre deg til en ødemark.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.

Slik som du gledet deg over Israels hus' arv da den ble ødelagt, slik vil jeg gjøre mot deg: Du skal bli ødelagt, Se'ir-fjellet, og hele Edom, ja, det hele. Da skal de vite at jeg er Herren.

As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
