Herrens hånd var over meg, og han førte meg ut i Herrens ånd og satte meg ned midt i en dal som var full av bein.

The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,

Han lot meg gå omkring dem på alle kanter, og se, det var veldig mange i den åpne dalen, og de var svært tørre.

And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.

Han sa til meg: Menneskesønn, kan disse beina bli levende? Og jeg svarte: Å, Herre Gud, du vet det.

And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.

Igjen sa han til meg: Si fram en profeti over disse beina og si til dem: Dere tørre bein, hør Herrens ord.

Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.

Så sier Herren Gud til disse beina: Se, jeg vil la ånd komme inn i dere, så dere kan leve.

Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

Jeg vil legge sener på dere, la kjøtt vokse på dere og dekke dere med hud; jeg vil gi dere ånd, så dere kan leve. Da skal dere vite at jeg er Herren.

And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Så profeterte jeg som jeg var blitt befalt. Mens jeg profeterte, hørtes det en lyd, og se, en skjelving, og beina kom sammen, hvert bein til sitt bein.

So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.

Og da jeg så, kom sener og kjøtt på dem, og de ble dekket med hud. Men det var ingen ånd i dem.

And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.

Da sa han til meg: Profeter til vinden, profeter, menneskesønn, og si til vinden: Så sier Herren Gud: Kom fra de fire vinder, du ånd, og blås på disse drepte, så de kan leve.

Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.

Jeg profeterte som han befalte meg, og ånden kom inn i dem, de ble levende og reiste seg opp på føttene, en meget stor hær.

So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

Så sa han til meg: Menneskesønn, disse beina er hele Israels hus. Se, de sier: Våre bein er tørre, vårt håp er tapt; vi er avskåret.

Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

Derfor profeter og si til dem: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, mitt folk, jeg vil åpne gravene deres og få dere opp av gravene, og føre dere til Israels land.

Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

Dere skal vite at jeg er Herren, når jeg åpner gravene deres og fører dere opp av gravene, mitt folk.

And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

Jeg vil gi dere min ånd, og dere skal bli levende, og jeg vil la dere bo i deres eget land. Da skal dere vite at jeg, Herren, har talt og gjort det, sier Herren.

And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

Og Herrens ord kom til meg igjen, og sa:

The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

Du menneskesønn, ta en stav og skriv på den: 'For Juda og for Israels barn, hans ledsagere.' Ta så en annen stav og skriv på den: 'For Josef, Efraims stav, og for hele Israels hus, hans ledsagere.'

Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:

Før dem sammen til én stav, så de blir én i din hånd.

And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.

Når så folkets barn spør deg: 'Vil du ikke forklare oss hva dette betyr?'

And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?

Da skal du si til dem: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg vil ta Josefs stav, som er i Efraims hånd, og de stammene av Israel som er med ham, og jeg vil legge dem sammen med Judas stav og gjøre dem til én stav i min hånd.

Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

De stavene du skriver på skal være i hånden din foran øynene deres.

And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes.

Si til dem: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg vil ta Israels barn fra de folk de har gått bort til, og jeg vil samle dem fra alle kanter, og føre dem til deres eget land.

And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:

Jeg vil gjøre dem til ett folk i landet, på Israels fjell, og én konge skal være konge over dem alle. De skal ikke lenger være to folkeslag eller være delt i to riker.

And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:

De skal ikke lenger gjøre seg urene med sine avguder, avskyeligheter eller noen av sine overtredelser. Jeg vil frelse dem fra alle deres synder hvor de har syndet, og jeg vil rense dem. De skal være mitt folk, og jeg vil være deres Gud.

Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.

Min tjener David skal være konge over dem, og alle skal ha én hyrde. De skal følge mine lover og holde mine forskrifter og gjøre etter dem.

And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.

De skal bo i det landet jeg har gitt til min tjener Jakob, hvor deres fedre bodde. Der skal de bo, de og deres barn og barnebarn, til evig tid, og min tjener David skal være deres fyrste for evig.

And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.

Jeg vil opprette en fredspakt med dem, en evig pakt skal det være med dem. Jeg vil la dem bosette seg og formere seg, og jeg vil sette min helligdom blant dem for alltid.

Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore.

Mitt tabernakel skal også være hos dem. Jeg vil være deres Gud, og de skal være mitt folk.

My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Da skal folkene vite at jeg, Herren, helliger Israel, når min helligdom er blant dem for alltid.

And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
