Herrens ord kom til meg, og sa,

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Menneskesønn, vend ansiktet mot Gog, landet Magog, den øverste fyrsten av Mesek og Tubal, og profetér mot ham,

Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,

Og si: Så sier Herren Gud: Se, jeg er imot deg, Gog, den øverste fyrsten av Mesek og Tubal.

And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

Jeg vil vende deg tilbake og sette kroker i kjevene dine. Jeg vil føre deg ut med hele hæren din, hester og ryttere, alle kledd i full rustning, en stor mengde med skjold og våpen, alle som håndterer sverd.

And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:

Persia, Etiopia og Libya følger med dem, alle med skjold og hjelm.

Gomer og alle hans hærer, Togarmas hus fra de nordlige distriktene, og alle hans hærer, og mange folk med deg.

Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.

Gjør deg klar, og vær forberedt, du og hele din mengde som er samlet hos deg, og vær en vakt for dem.

Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.

Etter mange dager skal du bli besøkt; i de senere år skal du komme til landet som er befridd fra sverdet og samlet fra mange folk, mot Israels fjell, som alltid har ligget øde. Men det er ført ut av folkene, og de skal bo trygt, alle sammen.

After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.

Du skal stige opp og komme som en storm, du skal være som en sky som dekker landet, du og alle dine hærer, og mange folk med deg.

Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee.

Så sier Herren Gud: Det skal også skje at på den tiden skal tanker komme inn i din sjel, og du skal tenke en ond tanke.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:

Og du skal si: Jeg vil dra opp til de ubevoktede landsbyene; jeg vil gå til dem som er i ro, som bor trygt, alle som lever uten murer og verken har bom eller porter.

And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

For å plundre og ta bytte, for å rette hånden din mot de avsidesliggende stedene som nå er bebodde, og mot folket som er samlet fra nasjonene, som har fått fe og gods, som bor midt i landet.

To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.

Seba og Dedan og handelsmennene fra Tarsis med alle sine unge løver skal si til deg: Er du kommet for å plyndre? Har du samlet din hær for å ta bytte, for å ta sølv og gull, for å bortføre fe og gods, for å ta en stor mengde bytte?

Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?

Derfor, menneskesønn, profetér og si til Gog: Så sier Herren Gud: På den dagen når mitt folk Israel bor trygt, skal du da ikke vite det?

Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it?

Og du skal komme fra ditt sted ut fra de nordlige delene, du og mange folk med deg, alle ridende på hester, en stor skare og en mektig hær.

And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:

Og du skal komme opp mot mitt folk Israel som en sky som dekker landet; i de siste dager skal jeg føre deg mot mitt land, for at folkene skal kjenne meg, når jeg blir helliget i deg, Gog, for deres øyne.

And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.

Så sier Herren Gud: Er du den jeg har talt om i fordums tid av mine tjenere, profetene i Israel, som profeterte i disse dager for mange år siden, at jeg ville bringe deg mot dem?

Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?

Og det skal skje på den tiden når Gog kommer mot Israels land, sier Herren Gud, at min vrede skal stige opp i mitt åsyn.

And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face.

For i min nidkjærhet og i mitt vredes flamme har jeg talt: Sannelig, på den dagen skal det være et stort jordskjelv i Israels land.

For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;

Så fisken i havet, fuglene under himmelen, dyrene på marken, alle småkryp som kryper på jorden, og alle mennesker på jordens overflate skal skjelve for mitt nærvær. Fjellene skal bli kastet ned, bratte steder skal falle, og hver mur skal falle til jorden.

So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

Og jeg vil kalle på sverdet mot ham over hele min fjell, sier Herren Gud: hvert menneskes sverd skal være mot sin bror.

And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother.

Og jeg vil dømme ham med pest og blod, og jeg vil la det regne over ham og hans hærer og de mange folkene som er med ham, en flom av regn, store haglsteiner, ild og svovel.

And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

Slik vil jeg opphøye meg selv, hellige meg selv; og jeg vil bli kjent i mange folks øyne, og de skal vite at jeg er Herren.

Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
