Det skjedde i det sjette året, i den sjette måneden, på den femte dagen i måneden, mens jeg satt i mitt hus og Judas eldste satt foran meg, at Herrens hånd kom over meg der.

And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord GOD fell there upon me.

Så så jeg, og se, en skikkelse som fremstod som ild: fra hoftene og nedover så den ut som ild, og fra hoftene og oppover så den ut som en strålende lysning, som rav.

Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber.

Og han strakte ut det som så ut som en hånd og tok meg i en lokk av håret, og Ånden løftet meg opp mellom jorden og himmelen og førte meg i Guds syner til Jerusalem, til porten i den indre forgården som vender mot nord, der hvor bildet av sjalusi stod, som vekker sjalusi.

And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.

Og se, der var Herrens herlighet, Israels Gud, ifølge det syn jeg hadde sett på sletten.

And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, according to the vision that I saw in the plain.

Da sa han til meg: Menneskesønn, løft nå dine øyne i retning mot nord. Og jeg løftet mine øyne mot nord, og se, der i nord ved alterporten stod bildet av sjalusi i inngangen.

Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.

Han sa videre til meg: Menneskesønn, ser du hva de gjør? Til og med de store vemmelighetene som Israels hus begår her, slik at jeg må fjerne meg fra min helligdom? Men vend deg igjen, og du skal se enda større vemmeligheter.

He said furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations.

Og han førte meg til inngangen til gården; og når jeg så, se, det var et hull i muren.

And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall.

Da sa han til meg: Menneskesønn, grav nå i muren. Og da jeg hadde gravd i muren, se, var det en dør.

Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.

Og han sa til meg: Gå inn og se de ondskapsfulle avskyelighetene som de gjør her.

And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.

Så jeg gikk inn og så, og se, alle slags krypende vesener, avskyelige dyr og alle Israels hus' avgudsbilder, var tegnet på veggene rundt omkring.

So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.

Og foran dem stod sytti av de eldste i Israels hus, og midt iblant dem stod Ja’asan’ja, Sjafans sønn, hver mann med sin røkelsesskål i hånden; og en tykk sky av røkelse steg opp.

And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, and in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up.

Da sa han til meg: Menneskesønn, har du sett hva de eldste i Israels hus gjør i mørket, hver mann i sitt avbildningsrom? For de sier: Herren ser oss ikke; Herren har forlatt jorden.

Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.

Han sa også til meg: Vend deg igjen, og du skal se større vemmeligheter som de gjør.

He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do.

Så førte han meg til inngangen til Herrens hus, som lå mot nord, og se, der satt kvinner og gråt over Tammuz.

Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD'S house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.

Da sa han til meg: Har du sett dette, menneskesønn? Vend deg igjen, og du skal se større vemmeligheter enn disse.

Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these.

Og han førte meg inn i den indre forgården til Herrens hus, og se, ved inngangen til Herrens tempel, mellom forhallen og alteret, var det rundt femogtyve menn med ryggen mot Herrens tempel og ansiktene mot øst; og de tilbad solen mot øst.

And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD'S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.

Da sa han til meg: Har du sett dette, menneskesønn? Er det en lett sak for Judas hus å begå de avskyelighetene som de begår her? For de har fylt landet med vold og har igjen vekket min vrede, og de holder en kvist til nesen.

Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.

Derfor skal jeg handle i vrede: Mitt øye skal ikke spare, heller ikke skal jeg ha medlidenhet; og selv om de roper høyt for mine ører, vil jeg ikke høre dem.

Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.
