Det skal skyte fram en kvist av Isais stamme, og en gren skal vokse ut av dets røtter.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

Herrens ånd skal hvile over ham, visdommens og forstandens ånd, rådgivningens og styrkens ånd, kunnskapens og fryktens ånd for Herren.

And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

Han skal få en dyp forståelse av frykten for Herren, og han skal ikke dømme ut fra det øynene ser, eller irettesette etter hva ørene hører.

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

Men med rettferdighet skal han dømme de fattige, og med rettvishet skal han irettesette for de ydmyke på jorden. Han skal slå jorden med sin munns vekst, og med pusten fra sine lepper skal han drepe de onde.

But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

Rettferdighet skal være beltet om hans hofter, og troskap beltet om hans midje.

And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

Ulven skal bo sammen med lammet, og leoparden skal ligge hos kjeet; kalven, den unge løven og gjøfatet sammen, og et lite barn skal lede dem.

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Kuen og bjørnen skal beite, deres unge skal ligge sammen; og løven skal ete høy som oksen.

And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

Den diebarnet skal leke ved hullet til en klapperslange, og det avvente barnet skal rekke hånden inn i basiliskens hi.

And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.

Ingen skal skade eller ødelegge noe på hele mitt hellige fjell, for jorden skal være full av kunnskap om Herren, som vannet dekker havet.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

På den dagen skal Isais rot stå som et tegn for folkene; til den skal nasjonene søke, og hans hvileplass skal være herlig.

And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

Den dagen skal det skje at Herren igjen strekker ut sin hånd en annen gang for å ta tilbake restene av sitt folk som er etterlatt fra Assyria, Egypt, Patros, Kusj, Elam, Sinear, Hamat og fra øyene i havet.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.

Han skal reise et tegn for nasjonene og samle de forviste fra Israel og samle de spredte fra Juda fra jordens fire hjørner.

And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Efraims misunnelse skal ta slutt, og Judas fiender skal bli avskåret; Efraim skal ikke misunne Juda, og Juda skal ikke plage Efraim.

The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim.

Men de skal storme mot filistrenes skulder mot vest, de skal plyndre alle i øst sammen; de skal legge sin hånd på Edom og Moab, og Amons barn skal lyde dem.

But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them.

Herren skal fullstendig ødelegge Egyptens havtunge; med sin mektige vind skal han sveipe hånden over elven, slå den til syv strømmer og la folk krysse den tørrskodd.

And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod.

Det skal bli en vei for restene av hans folk som er igjen fra Assyria, slik som det var for Israel den dagen da de kom opp fra landet Egypt.

And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
