På den tiden sendte Merodak-Baladan, sønn av Baladan, kongen av Babylon, brev og en gave til Hiskia, for han hadde hørt at han hadde vært syk og blitt frisk.

At that time Merodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered.

Hiskia ble glad for dette og viste dem huset med sine dyrebare skatter, sølv, gull, krydder og den kostbare oljen, samt hele våpenhuset og alt som fantes i hans skatter: det fantes ingenting i hans hus eller i hele hans rike som Hiskia ikke viste dem.

And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

Da kom profeten Jesaja til kong Hiskia og sa til ham: Hva sa disse mennene? Og hvor kom de fra? Hiskia svarte: De er kommet til meg fra et fjern land, fra Babylon.

Then came iah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon.

Så sa han: Hva har de sett i ditt hus? Og Hiskia svarte: De har sett alt som er i mitt hus; det er ingenting blant mine skatter som jeg ikke har vist dem.

Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.

Da sa Jesaja til Hiskia: Hør ordet fra Herren, hærskarenes Gud:

Then said iah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts:

Se, dager kommer da alt som er i ditt hus, og det dine fedre har spart opp til denne dag, skal bli ført til Babylon: ingenting skal bli tilbake, sier Herren.

Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.

Og av dine sønner, som skal utgå fra deg, dem som du skal få, skal de ta med seg bort; de skal bli hoffmenn i palasset til kongen av Babylon.

And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

Da sa Hiskia til Jesaja: Godt er Herrens ord som du har talt. Han sa videre: For det skal være fred og sannhet i mine dager.

Then said Hezekiah to iah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
