Reis deg, skin; for ditt lys er kommet, og Herrens herlighet har gått opp over deg.

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.

For se, mørket dekker jorden og dyp mørke over folkeslagene, men Herren skal gå opp over deg, og hans herlighet skal ses over deg.

For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

Folkene skal komme til ditt lys, og kongene til glansen av din oppgang.

And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

Løft øynene og se deg omkring: alle samler seg og kommer til deg; dine sønner kommer fra det fjerne, og dine døtre blir båret ved din side.

Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.

Da skal du se og stråle av glede, og ditt hjerte skal banke og utvide seg; for havets rikdommer skal komme til deg, og folkets rikdommer skal tilfalle deg.

Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.

Et hav av kameler skal dekke deg, ungekamelene fra Midjan og Efa; alle fra Saba skal komme, de skal bringe gull og røkelse og forkynne Herrens pris.

The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the LORD.

Alle Kedars flokker skal samles hos deg, Nebaiots værer skal tjene deg: de skal komme på mitt alter i velbehag, og jeg vil herliggjøre mitt herlige hus.

All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.

Hvem er disse som flyr som en sky, og som duer til sine dueslag?

Who are these that fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?

For kystlandene venter på meg, og skipsfarten fra Tarsis i forgrunnen, for å bringe dine sønner fra det fjerne med sølv og gull med seg, for Herrens, din Guds navn, og for Israels Hellige, fordi han har herliggjort deg.

Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.

Fremmede skal bygge opp dine murer, og deres konger skal tjene deg; for i min vrede slo jeg deg, men i min nåde har jeg hatt medfølelse med deg.

And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.

Derfor skal dine porter alltid være åpne, de skal ikke lukkes dag eller natt, for at folkets rikdommer skal bringes til deg, og deres konger skal føres med.

Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.

For det folket og det riket som ikke vil tjene deg, skal gå til grunne; ja, disse folkene skal bli fullstendig ødelagt.

For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.

The sons also of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee, The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

Fordi du har vært forlatt og hatet, så ingen reiste gjennom deg, vil jeg gjøre deg til en evig prakt, en glede for mange slekter.

Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.

Du skal amme nasjonenes melk, og kongers bryst skal du suge; og du skal kjenne at jeg, Herren, er din frelser og forløser, Jakobs Mektige.

Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

I stedet for bronse vil jeg bringe gull, i stedet for jern vil jeg bringe sølv, i stedet for tre bronse, og i stedet for steiner jern; jeg vil gjøre dine myndigheter til fred, og dine herskere til rettferdighet.

For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.

Vold skal ikke mer høres i ditt land, ødeleggelse eller undergang innenfor dine grenser; dine murer skal kalles Frelse og dine porter Lovsang.

Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.

Solen skal ikke lenger være ditt lys om dagen, og for glansen skal månen ikke gi deg lys; men Herren skal være ditt evige lys, og din Gud din herlighet.

The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

Din sol skal ikke lenger gå ned, og månen din skal ikke trekke seg tilbake; for Herren skal være ditt evige lys, og dagene med din sorg skal ta slutt.

Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

Ditt folk skal også være alle rettferdige: de skal arve landet for alltid, en gren av min beplantning, et verk av mine hender, for at jeg kan bli herliggjort.

Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.

Den minste skal bli til tusen, og den minste en sterk nasjon; jeg, Herren, vil skynde meg å gjøre dette i min tid.

A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.
