Og det skjedde samme år, i begynnelsen av regjeringen til Sidkia, kongen av Juda, i det fjerde året, i den femte måneden, at Hananja, sønn av Assur, profeten fra Gibeon, talte til meg i Herrens hus, i nærvær av prestene og alt folket, og sa:

And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spake unto me in the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,

Slik taler Herren over hærskarene, Israels Gud: Jeg har brutt åket til kongen av Babylon.

Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

Innen to fulle år vil jeg føre tilbake til dette stedet alle karene fra Herrens hus som Nebukadnesar, kongen av Babylon, tok med seg herfra og førte til Babylon.

Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD'S house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon:

Og jeg vil føre tilbake til dette stedet Jekonja, sønn av Jojakim, kongen av Juda, sammen med alle Juda-fangene som dro til Babylon, sier Herren. For jeg vil bryte åket til kongen av Babylon.

And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith the LORD: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.

Da sa profeten Jeremia til profeten Hananja i nærvær av prestene og i nærvær av alt folket som sto i Herrens hus,

Then the prophet emiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of the LORD,

til og med profeten Jeremia sa: Amen! Måtte Herren gjøre slik, måtte Herren oppfylle dine ord som du har profetert, for å føre tilbake karene fra Herrens hus og alle som er bortført til fange, fra Babylon til dette stedet.

Even the prophet emiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD'S house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place.

Likevel, hør nå dette ordet som jeg taler til dere, og til alle folkets ører:

Nevertheless hear thou now this word that I speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people;

De profetene som har vært før meg og før deg, profeterte mot mange land og mot store riker, om krig, om ondskap og om pest.

The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.

Den profeten som profeterer om fred, når profetens ord skjer, da skal den profeten bli kjent som en som Herren virkelig har sendt.

The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him.

Så tok profeten Hananja åket av profeten Jeremia's nakke og brøt det.

Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet emiah's neck, and brake it.

Og Hananja talte i nærvær av alt folket og sa: Slik sier Herren: På samme måte vil jeg bryte Nebukadnesars, kongen av Babylon, åk fra nakken til alle nasjonene innen to fulle år. Og profeten Jeremia gikk sin vei.

And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet emiah went his way.

Da kom Herrens ord til Jeremia profeten, etter at Hananja profeten hadde brutt åket av profeten Jeremia's nakke, og sa:

Then the word of the LORD came unto emiah the prophet, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet emiah, saying,

Gå og si til Hananja: Slik sier Herren: Du har brutt treåkene, men du skal lage jernåk for dem.

Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.

For slik sier Herren over hærskarene, Israels Gud: Jeg har lagt et jernåk på nakken til disse nasjonene, for at de skal tjene Nebukadnesar, kongen av Babylon, og de skal tjene ham. Jeg har også gitt ham markens dyr.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also.

Da sa profeten Jeremia til profeten Hananja: Hør nå, Hananja, Herren har ikke sendt deg, men du får dette folket til å stole på en løgn.

Then said the prophet emiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.

Derfor sier Herren: Se, jeg vil kaste deg fra jordens overflate: dette året skal du dø, fordi du har lært folket opprør mot Herren.

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD.

Så døde Hananja profeten samme år, i den sjuende måneden.

So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
