På den tiden, sier Herren, skal jeg være Gud for alle Israels slekter, og de skal være mitt folk.

At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.

Så sier Herren: Folket som overlevde sverdet, fant nåde i ørkenen; ja, Israel, når jeg førte ham til hvile.

Thus saith the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.

Herren har vist seg for meg i gammel tid og sa: Ja, jeg har elsket deg med en evig kjærlighet; derfor har jeg dratt deg med miskunnhet.

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Igjen skal jeg bygge deg, og du skal bygges, Israels jomfru: du skal igjen pynte deg med tamburiner og gå ut i glede dans.

Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

Du skal igjen plante vinranker på Samarias fjell: plantene skal plante, og de skal nyte dem som vanlige ting.

Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.

For det skal komme en dag da vekterne på Efraims fjell skal rope: Stå opp, og la oss gå opp til Sion, til Herren vår Gud.

For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.

For så sier Herren: Syng med glede for Jakob, og rop blant folkene: Forkynn, pris og si: Herre, frels ditt folk, Israels rest.

For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

Se, jeg vil føre dem fra landet i nord og samle dem fra jordens ytterkanter, sammen med de blinde og de lamme, de gravide og de fødende: en stor skare skal vende tilbake dit.

Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.

De skal komme med gråt, og med bønn vil jeg føre dem: Jeg vil lede dem ved elvene på vannveier, hvor de ikke skal snuble: for jeg er en far for Israel, og Efraim er min førstefødte.

They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

Hør Herrens ord, dere folkeslag, og forkynn det til de fjerne øyer, og si: Han som spredte Israel, vil samle ham, og vokte ham som en hyrde gjør med sin flokk.

Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

For Herren har forløst Jakob og fridd ham fra hånden til den som var sterkere enn ham.

For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

Derfor skal de komme og synge på Sions høyde, og de skal strømme til Herrens godhet, for hvete, vin og olje, og for flokkenes og buskapens unge: deres sjel skal være som en vannet hage; og de skal ikke sørge mer.

Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

Da skal jomfruen glede seg i dansen, både unge menn og gamle sammen: for jeg vil vende deres sorg til glede, og vil trøste dem og la dem glede seg i stedet for sorg.

Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

Og jeg vil mette prestenes sjel med fedme, og mitt folk skal mettes med min godhet, sier Herren.

And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.

Så sier Herren: En stemme ble hørt i Rama, klage og bitter gråt; Rakel gråt for sine barn og nekter å la seg trøste for sine barn, fordi de ikke er mer.

Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

Så sier Herren: Hold tilbake din stemme fra å gråte, og dine øyne fra tårer: for ditt arbeid skal belønnes, sier Herren; og de skal komme tilbake fra fiendens land.

Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

Og det er håp for din fremtid, sier Herren, at dine barn skal vende tilbake til sitt eget land.

And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

Jeg har sannelig hørt Efraim klage seg: Du har tuktet meg, og jeg ble tukta, som en kalv som ikke er vant til å bære åk: vend om meg, så skal jeg bli omvendt; for du er Herren min Gud.

I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.

Sannelig, da jeg var omvendt, angret jeg; og etter at jeg ble veiledet, slo jeg meg på låret: jeg var skamfull, ja, til og med forvirret, fordi jeg bar min ungdoms skam.

Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

Er Efraim min kjære sønn? Er han et behagelig barn? For siden jeg talte imot ham, minnes jeg ham fortsatt ivrig: derfor er mitt indre fylt av omsorg for ham; Jeg vil sannelig ha barmhjertighet med ham, sier Herren.

Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.

Reis deg skilt og lag deg veivisere: vend ditt hjerte mot veien, den veien du gikk: vend tilbake, Israels jomfru, vend tilbake til dine byer.

Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, even the way which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.

Hvor lenge vil du vandre omkring, du frafalne datter? For Herren har skapt noe nytt på jorden: En kvinne skal omfavne en mann.

How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

Så sier hærskarenes Herre, Israels Gud: Enda skal de bruke dette uttrykk i Juda og byene når jeg igjen fører tilbake deres fangenskap: Herren velsigne deg, rettferds bolig, og hellighetens fjell.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.

Og det skal bo i Juda og alle byene, bønder, og de som går ut med flokker.

And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.

For jeg har mettet den trette sjel, og jeg har fylt hver sorgfull sjel.

For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

Etter dette våknet jeg og så; og min søvn var søt for meg.

Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

Se, dager kommer, sier Herren, da jeg vil så Israels hus og Judas hus med menneskets sæd, og med dyrets sæd.

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.

Og det skal skje, som jeg har våket over dem for å rykke opp, og for å rive ned, og for å bryte ned, og for å ødelegge, og for å la de lide; slik vil jeg våke over dem for å bygge og plante, sier Herren.

And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.

I de dager skal de ikke si mer: Fedrene har spist sure druer, og barnas tenner er blitt såre.

In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge.

Men hver skal dø for sin egen misgjerning: hver mann som spiser sure druer, hans tenner skal bli såre.

But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

Se, dager kommer, sier Herren, da jeg vil inngå en ny pakt med Israels hus og Judas hus:

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Ikke som den pakten jeg inngikk med deres fedre den dagen jeg tok dem ved hånden for å føre dem ut av landet Egypt; den pakten de brøt, selv om jeg var en ektemann for dem, sier Herren:

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

Men dette skal være den pakten jeg vil inngå med Israels hus; Etter de dager, sier Herren, vil jeg legge min lov i deres indre, og skrive den i deres hjerter; og vil være deres Gud, og de skal være mitt folk.

But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Og de skal ikke lenger lære hver sin neste og hver bror og si: Kjenn Herren: for de skal alle kjenne meg, fra den minste blant dem til den største, sier Herren: for jeg vil tilgi deres misgjerning, og jeg vil ikke minnes deres synd mer.

And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

Så sier Herren, han som gir solen til lys om dagen, og ordningene av månen og stjernene til lys om natten, som deler havet når bølgene bruser; Herren, hærskarenes Gud, er hans navn:

Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:

Hvis disse ordningene viker bort fra meg, sier Herren, da skal også Israels ætt opphøre fra å være en nasjon for mitt ansikt for evig.

If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

Så sier Herren: Hvis himmelen over kan måles, og jordens grunnvoller undersøkes nedenfra, vil jeg også vise bort hele Israels ætt for alt de har gjort, sier Herren.

Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

Se, dager kommer, sier Herren, da byen skal bygges for Herren fra Hananeels tårn til hjørneporten.

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.

Og målesnoren skal igjen gå over mot høyden Gareb, og sveipe rundt til Goa.

And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.

Og hele dalen full av døde kropper, og asken, og alle markene til Kidrons bekk, til hjørnet av hesteporten mot øst, skal være hellig for Herren; den skal ikke rykkes opp, heller ikke rives ned mer for evig.

And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.
