Og Herrens ord kom til Jeremia for andre gang mens han fortsatt satt i fengslets gård, og sa:

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto emiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

Så sier Herren, han som skapte det, Herren som formet det for å grunnfeste det; Herren er hans navn:

Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;

Rop til meg, så skal jeg svare deg og vise deg store og mektige ting som du ikke kjenner.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

For så sier Herren, Israels Gud, om husene i denne byen og om husene til Judas konger, som er revet ned av beleiringstårn og sverd;

For thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;

De kommer for å kjempe mot kaldeerne, men det er for å fylle dem med døde menneskelik, dem jeg har drept i min vrede og min harme, og på grunn av hvis ugjerninger jeg har skjult mitt ansikt fra denne byen.

They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.

Se, jeg vil bringe helse og legedom, og jeg vil helbrede dem, og la dem få oppleve overflod av fred og sannhet.

Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.

Og jeg vil føre tilbake Judas fangenskap og Israels fangenskap, og vil bygge dem opp som i begynnelsen.

And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

Og jeg vil rense dem fra all deres synd, som de har syndet mot meg; og jeg vil tilgi alle deres misgjerninger, som de har syndet, og som de har overtrådt mot meg.

And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

Og det skal bli for meg et navn av glede, ros og ære for alle jordens nasjoner, som skal høre om alt det gode jeg gjør for dem: og de skal frykte og skjelve for alt det gode og den fremgang jeg gir det.

And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.

Så sier Herren: Igjen skal det høres på dette stedet, som du sier skal ligge øde uten mennesker og uten dyr, i byene i Juda, og i Jerusalems gater, som er øde, uten mennesker, uten innbyggere og uten dyr,

Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of usalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast,

Rop av glede, og rop av fryd, ropet fra brudgommen, og ropet fra bruden, ropet fra dem som skal si: Lov Herren, hærskarenes Gud! For Herren er god; for hans miskunn varer evig: og dem som skal bringe lovprisningens offer til Herrens hus. For jeg vil føre tilbake fangenskapet av landet, som i begynnelsen, sier Herren.

The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.

Så sier hærskarenes Herre: Igjen på dette stedet, som er øde uten mennesker og uten dyr, og i alle dets byer, skal hyrdene ha bolig og la sine flokker legge seg ned.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

I byene på fjellene, i byene i dalen, og i byene i sør, og i Benjamins land, og på stedene rundtom Jerusalem, og i byene i Juda, skal flokkene igjen gå under hendene på den som teller dem, sier Herren.

In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about usalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth them, saith the LORD.

Se, dager kommer, sier Herren, da jeg skal oppfylle det gode løftet jeg har gitt til Israels hus og Judas hus.

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.

I de dager og på den tiden vil jeg la en rettferdig gren spire fram for David; og han skal holde dom og rettferdighet i landet.

In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

I de dager skal Juda bli frelst, og Jerusalem skal bo trygt: Og dette er navnet hun skal kalles: Herren, vår rettferdighet.

In those days shall Judah be saved, and usalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.

For så sier Herren: David skal aldri mangle en mann til å sitte på tronen i Israels hus;

For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;

Heller ikke skal prestene, levittene, mangle en mann foran meg til å ofre brennoffer, og tenne grødeoffer, og gjøre offer uten opphold.

Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

Og Herrens ord kom til Jeremia, og sa:

And the word of the LORD came unto emiah, saying,

Så sier Herren: Hvis dere kan bryte min pakt med dagen og min pakt med natten, slik at det ikke skal være dag og natt til sine tider;

Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;

Da kan også min pakt med min tjener David brytes, slik at han ikke skulle ha en sønn til å regjere på sin trone; og med levittene, prestene, mine tjenere.

Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

Som himmelens hær ikke kan telles, og sanden ved havet ikke kan måles: slik vil jeg mangedoble ætten til min tjener David, og levittene som tjener meg.

As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.

Og Herrens ord kom til Jeremia, og sa:

Moreover the word of the LORD came to emiah, saying,

Setter du ikke pris på hva dette folket har sagt, og sier: De to familiene som Herren har valgt, har han kastet fra seg? Slik har de foraktet mitt folk, så de ikke lenger er en nasjon for dem.

Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.

Så sier Herren: Hvis min pakt med dag og natt ikke holder, og hvis jeg ikke har satt de faste lover for himmelen og jorden,

Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

Da vil jeg forkaste Jakobs ætling, og min tjener David, slik at jeg ikke vil ta noen av hans ætling til å være herskere over ætten av Abraham, Isak og Jakob. For jeg skal føre deres fangenskap tilbake og vise dem barmhjertighet.

Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.
