There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of eph; to wit, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.

There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male children of Manasseh the son of eph by their families.

Men Selofhad, sønn av Hefer, sønn av Gilead, sønn av Makir, sønn av Manasse, hadde ingen sønner, bare døtre. Og disse var navnene på hans døtre: Mala, Noa, Hogla, Milka og Tirsa.

But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

De kom fram for Eleazar, presten, og for Josva, Nuns sønn, og for lederne, og sa: Herren befalte Moses å gi oss en arv blant våre brødre. Derfor ga han dem en arv blant deres fars brødre, i samsvar med Herrens befaling.

And they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before hua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The LORD commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

Det falt altså ti deler til Manasse, i tillegg til landet Gilead og Basan, som var på den andre siden av Jordan.

And there fell ten portions to Manasseh, beside the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side Jordan;

For Manasses døtre fikk en arv blant hans sønner, og resten av Manasses sønner fikk landet Gilead.

Because the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh's sons had the land of Gilead.

Grensen til Manasse strakte seg fra Asjer til Mikmetat, som ligger foran Sikem, og grensen gikk videre til høyre til innbyggerne i En-Tappuah.

And the coast of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, that lieth before Shechem; and the border went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of En-tappuah.

Nå hadde Manasse landet Tappuah, men Tappuah, på grensen til Manasse, tilhørte Efraims barn.

Now Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;

Og grensen gikk ned til elven Kana, sørover fra elven. Disse Efraims byer ligger blant Manasses byer. Manasses grense var også på nordsiden av elven, og dens utløp var ved havet.

And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:

Sørover var det Efraims, og nordover var det Manasses, og havet var hans grense. De møttes ved Asjer i nord, og i Jissakar i øst.

Southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manasseh's, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.

Manasse hadde i Jissakar og i Asjer Bet-Sjean og dens småbyer, Ibleam og dens småbyer, og innbyggerne i Dor og dens småbyer, og innbyggerne i En-Dor og dens småbyer, og innbyggerne i Ta'nak og dens småbyer, og innbyggerne i Megiddo og dens småbyer, totalt tre regioner.

And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Beth-shean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries.

Likevel kunne ikke Manasses barn drive ut innbyggerne i disse byene, men kanaaneerne bodde i denne landet.

Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

Da Israels barn ble sterke, tvang de kanaaneerne til å betale skatt, men de drev dem ikke helt ut.

Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out.

Og Josefs barn talte til Josva og sa: Hvorfor har du gitt meg bare ett landområde og en del å arve, enda jeg er et stort folk, siden Herren har velsignet meg til nå?

And the children of eph spake unto hua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto?

Og Josva svarte dem: Hvis du er et stort folk, gå opp til skoglandet og hogg deg der land, i perisittenes og kjempenes land, hvis Efraims fjell er for trang for deg.

And hua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.

Og Josefs barn sa: Fjellområdet er ikke nok for oss, og alle kanaaneerne som bor i dalområdet har jernvogner, både de som er i Bet-Sjean og dens småbyer, og de som er i Jisre'els dal.

And the children of eph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beth-shean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

Og Josva talte til Josefs hus, både til Efraim og til Manasse, og sa: Du er et stort folk og har stor styrke, du skal ikke bare ha ett landområde.

And hua spake unto the house of eph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:

Men fjellområdet skal være ditt, for det er skog, og du skal hugge det ned, og dens utløp skal tilhøre deg; for du skal drive ut kanaaneerne, selv om de har jernvogner og selv om de er sterke.

But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.
