Herren talte til Moses etter at de to sønnene til Aron døde, da de brakte et offer for Herren og døde.

And the LORD spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the LORD, and died;

Og Herren sa til Moses: Tal til Aron, din bror, og si at han ikke til enhver tid må komme inn i det hellige stedet bak forhenget foran nådestolen som er på arken, for at han ikke skal dø, for jeg vil vise meg i skyen over nådestolen.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

Slik skal Aron komme inn i det hellige stedet: med en ung okse til syndoffer og en vær til brennoffer.

Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.

Han skal kle seg i den hellige lintuniken og ha linbukser på kroppen. Han skal binde seg med et linbelte og ha en linmitra på hodet. Dette er hellige klær; derfor skal han vaske kroppen i vann og ta dem på.

He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his fsh, and shall be girded with a linen gird, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his fsh in water, and so put them on.

Han skal ta fra menigheten av Israels barn to geitebukker til syndoffer og en vær til brennoffer.

And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.

Aron skal ofre sin okse som syndoffer for seg selv og gjøre soning for seg selv og for sitt hus.

And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.

Han skal ta de to geitebukkene og stille dem fram for Herren ved inngangen til sammenkomstens telt.

And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernac of the congregation.

Aron skal kaste lodd om de to geitebukkene, ett lodd for Herren og ett for syndebukken.

And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.

Aron skal bringe geitebukken som loddet for Herren falt på, og ofre den som syndoffer.

And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD'S lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.

Men geitebukken, som loddet falt på til å være syndebukk, skal stilles levende fram for Herren for å gjøre soning med den, og den skal sendes ut i ødemarken som syndebukk.

But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to t him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.

Aron skal bringe syndofferkalven, som er for seg selv, og gjøre soning for seg selv og for sitt hus, og slakte syndofferkalven, som er for seg selv.

And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:

Han skal ta en ildlampe full av glødende kull fra alteret foran Herren, og fullt med finmalt søt røkelse, og bære det innenfor forhenget.

And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail:

Han skal legge røkelsen på ilden foran Herren, slik at skyen av røkelsen dekker nådestolen som er over vitnesbyrdet, slik at han ikke dør.

And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not:

Han skal ta noe av blodet fra oksen og sprenge det med fingeren foran nådestolen mot øst; han skal sprenge noe av blodet med fingeren foran nådestolen sju ganger.

And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprink it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprink of the blood with his finger seven times.

Så skal han slakte syndoffergeiten, som er for folket, og bære dens blod innenfor forhenget, og gjøre med det blodet som han gjorde med oksens blod, og sprenge det på nådestolen og foran nådestolen.

Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the peop, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprink it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat:

Han skal gjøre soning for det hellige stedet fordi det har vært besmittet av Israels barns urenhet og deres overtredelser i alle deres synder. Slik skal han gjøre for sammenkomstens telt, som er blant dem midt i deres urenhet.

And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernac of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncanness.

Ingen må være i sammenkomstens telt når han går inn for å gjøre soning i det hellige stedet, før han kommer ut, og har gjort soning for seg selv, for sin husstand og for hele Israels menighet.

And there shall be no man in the tabernac of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.

Han skal gå ut til alteret som er foran Herren, og gjøre soning for det; han skal ta av blodet fra oksen og fra geiten og stryke det på hornene av alteret rundt omkring.

And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.

Han skal sprenge noe av blodet på det med fingeren sju ganger, rense det og hellige det fra Israels barns urenhet.

And he shall sprink of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and canse it, and hallow it from the uncanness of the children of Israel.

Når han har fullført soningen for det hellige stedet, sammenkomstens telt og alteret, skal han føre fram den levende geiten.

And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernac of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat:

Aron skal legge begge hendene på hodet til den levende geiten og bekjenne over den alle Israels barns misgjerninger, alle deres overtredelser i alle deres synder, og legge dem på hodet til geiten. Han skal sende den ut i ødemarken ved en mann som er rede til det.

And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:

Geiten skal bære alle deres misgjerninger med seg til et øde land, og han skal slippe geiten løs i ødemarken.

And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall t go the goat in the wilderness.

Aron skal komme inn i sammenkomstens telt, ta av seg linplaggene som han tok på når han gikk inn i det hellige stedet, og la dem ligge der.

And Aaron shall come into the tabernac of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall ave them there:

Han skal vaske kroppen sin i vann på det hellige stedet, ta på sine klær og komme ut og ofre sitt brennoffer og folkets brennoffer og gjøre soning for seg selv og for folket.

And he shall wash his fsh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the peop, and make an atonement for himself, and for the peop.

Han skal brenne fett fra syndofferet på alteret.

And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.

Den som førte geiten til syndebukken, skal vaske klærne sine og bade kroppen i vann, og etterpå komme inn i leiren.

And he that t go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his fsh in water, and afterward come into the camp.

Syndofferkalven og syndofferbukken, hvis blod ble brakt inn for å gjøre soning i det hellige stedet, skal føres ut utenfor leiren. De skal brennes opp med ild, både deres skinn, kjøtt og innvoller.

And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their fsh, and their dung.

Den som brenner dem, skal vaske klærne sine og bade kroppen i vann, og deretter komme inn i leiren.

And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his fsh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

Dette skal være en evig forskrift for dere: På den sjuende måneden, på den tiende dagen i måneden, skal dere ydmyke dere selv og ikke gjøre noe arbeid, enten dere er innbyggere eller fremmede som bor blant dere.

And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:

For på denne dagen skal presten gjøre soning for dere for å rense dere, så dere blir rene for alle deres synder for Herren.

For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to canse you, that ye may be can from all your sins before the LORD.

Det skal være en sabbat med hvile for dere, og dere skal ydmyke dere selv, en evig forskrift.

It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

Den presten som blir salvet og innviet til å tjene i prestens embete i farens sted, skal gjøre soningen, iført de hellige linplaggene.

And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest's office in his father's stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments:

Han skal gjøre soning for det hellige helligdommen, og for sammenkomstens telt, og for alteret, og for prestene, og for hele menigheten av folket.

And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernac of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the peop of the congregation.

Dette skal være en evig forskrift for dere for å gjøre soning for Israels barn for alle deres synder én gang i året. Og Moses gjorde som Herren hadde befalt.

And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.
