Herren talte til Moses på fjellet Sinai og sa,

And the LORD spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,

Tal til Israels barn og si til dem: Når dere kommer inn i det landet som jeg gir dere, da skal landet holde sabbat for Herren.

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD.

I seks år skal du så marken din, og i seks år skal du beskjære vingården din og samle inn fruktene derfra.

Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof;

Men i det sjuende året skal landet ha en sabbat, en hvilens sabbat for Herren; da skal du verken så marken din eller beskjære vingården din.

But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

Det som vokser av seg selv etter din høst, skal du ikke høste, og druene fra de upleide vintrærne dine skal du ikke samle inn. For det er et hvileår for landet.

That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.

Og sabbaten for landet skal være til føde for dere, for deg og din tjener og din tjenestepike, din leiekar og den fremmede som bor hos deg.

And the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee,

Og for ditt kveg og for de dyrene som er i landet ditt, skal all landets avling være til føde.

And for thy catt, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.

Og du skal telle sju sabbatsår, sju ganger sju år, og tiden for de sju sabbatsårene skal være førtini år.

And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.

Da skal du la jubileumshornet lyde på den tiende dagen i den sjuende måneden, på forsoningsdagen, over hele landet.

Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubi to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.

Og dere skal hellige det femtiende året og utrope frihet i hele landet for alle innbyggerne der; det skal være et jubileum for dere. Hver mann skal vende tilbake til sin eiendom, og hver mann skal vende tilbake til sin familie.

And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubi unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

Dette femtiende året skal være et jubileum for dere: Dere skal ikke så, heller ikke høste det som vokser av seg selv, eller samle druene fra de upleide vintrærne deres.

A jubi shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.

For det er et jubileum; det skal være hellig for dere. Dere skal spise av avlingen rett fra marken.

For it is the jubi; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.

I jubileumsåret skal hver mann vende tilbake til sin eiendom.

In the year of this jubi ye shall return every man unto his possession.

Når du selger eller kjøper noe fra din neste, skal dere ikke undertrykke hverandre.

And if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour's hand, ye shall not oppress one another:

Etter antall år etter jubileet skal du kjøpe av din neste, og etter antallet av års avling skal han selge til deg.

According to the number of years after the jubi thou shalt buy of thy neighbour, and according unto the number of years of the fruits he shall sell unto thee:

Etter mange års antall skal du øke prisen, og etter få års antall skal du redusere prisen. For det er års avling han selger deg.

According to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits doth he sell unto thee.

Dere skal derfor ikke undertrykke hverandre, men du skal frykte din Gud; for jeg er Herren deres Gud.

Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God.

Derfor skal dere følge mine lover, holde mine forskrifter og gjøre dem, og dere skal bo trygt i landet.

Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.

Og landet skal gi sin frukt, og dere skal spise dere mette og bo trygt der.

And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.

Og hvis dere sier: Hva skal vi spise det sjuende året? Se, vi skal ikke så eller samle inn vår avling.

And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase:

Da vil jeg befale min velsignelse over dere i det sjette året, så det vil gi nok avling for tre år.

Then I will command my bssing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years.

Og dere skal så i det åttende året og fortsatt spise av gammel avling til det niende året; inntil dens avling kommer inn, skal dere spise av den gamle.

And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year; until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store.

Landet skal ikke selges for alltid, for landet er mitt, for dere er fremmede og tilflyttere hos meg.

The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.

I hele det landet dere eier, skal dere gi mulighet for innløsning.

And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.

Hvis din bror blir fattig og selger noe av sin eiendom, og hans slektning kommer for å løse det inn, da skal han innløse det hans bror har solgt.

If thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold.

Hvis mannen ikke har noen til å løse det, men senere blir i stand til å innløse det selv,

And if the man have none to redeem it, and himself be ab to redeem it;

da skal han beregne årene for salget, og gi tilbake det overskytende til mannen som han solgte det til, så han kan returnere til sin eiendom.

Then t him count the years of the sa thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession.

Men hvis han ikke er i stand til å gi det tilbake til ham, skal det forbli hos den som kjøpte det til jubileumsåret; i jubileet skal det gå ut, og han skal vende tilbake til sin eiendom.

But if he be not ab to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubi: and in the jubi it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.

Hvis en mann selger et hus i en by med murer rundt, kan han løse det tilbake innen ett helt år etter salget; innen et helt år kan han løse det.

And if a man sell a dwelling house in a wald city, then he may redeem it within a who year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it.

Hvis det ikke blir løsnet innen ett år, skal huset i byen med murer være permanent for den som kjøpte det, gjennom hans generasjoner; det skal ikke gå ut i jubileet.

And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the wald city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubi.

Men husene i landsbyer som ikke er omgitt av murer, skal regnes som jordens marker; de kan løses inn, og de skal gå ut i jubileet.

But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubi.

Men levittenes byer og husene i byene de eier, kan levittene alltid innløse.

Notwithstanding the cities of the vites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the vites redeem at any time.

Hvis en av levittene innløser, skal det solgte huset i byen hans eiendom gå ut i jubileumsåret; for husene i byene til levittene er deres eiendom blant Israels barn.

And if a man purchase of the vites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubi: for the houses of the cities of the vites are their possession among the children of Israel.

Men markene utenfor byene deres må ikke selges, for det er deres evige eiendom.

But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.

Hvis din bror blir fattig og får økonomiske vanskeligheter hos deg, da skal du hjelpe ham, ja, selv om han er en fremmed eller tilflytter, så han kan leve hos deg.

And if thy brother be waxen poor, and faln in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.

Du skal ikke kreve rente av ham eller øke; men du skal frykte din Gud, så din bror kan leve hos deg.

Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.

Du skal ikke låne ham penger med interesse eller låne ham mat med økning.

Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor nd him thy victuals for increase.

Jeg er Herren deres Gud, som førte dere ut av Egyptens land for å gi dere Kanaans land, og for å være deres Gud.

I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.

Hvis din bror som bor hos deg blir fattig og selger seg til deg, skal du ikke påtvinge ham å tjene som en slave.

And if thy brother that dwelth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:

Men som en leiekar og som en tilflytter skal han være hos deg, og han skal tjene deg frem til jubileumsåret.

But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubi:

Da skal han forlate deg, både han og hans barn med ham, og vende tilbake til sin egen familie og til sin fars eiendom.

And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.

For de er mine tjenere, som jeg førte ut av Egyptens land; de skal ikke selges som slaver.

For they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen.

Du skal ikke herske over ham med hardhet, men du skal frykte din Gud.

Thou shalt not ru over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God.

Både dine slaver og dine slavekvinner, som du har, skal være blant folkeslagene omkring dere; av dem skal dere kjøpe slaver og slavekvinner.

Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.

Også blant barn av de fremmede som bor hos dere, kan dere kjøpe, og av deres familier som er hos dere, som de har født i deres land; de skal være deres eiendom.

Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.

Dere kan bruke dem som arv for deres barn etter dere, som en besittelse; de skal være deres slaver for alltid. Men over deres brødre blant Israels barn, skal dere ikke herske med hardhet.

And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not ru one over another with rigour.

Hvis en fremmed eller tilflytter som bor hos dere blir rik, og din bror som bor hos ham blir fattig og selger seg til den fremmede eller tilflytteren, eller til en gren av den fremmedes familie,

And if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger's family:

da kan han bli innløst etter at han har solgt seg. En av hans brødre kan innløse ham,

After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him:

eller hans onkel eller hans onkels sønn kan innløse ham, eller enhver som er nær slektning til ham, eller hvis han er i stand til det, kan han innløse seg selv.

Either his unc, or his unc's son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be ab, he may redeem himself.

Han skal beregne med ham som kjøpte ham, fra året han solgte seg til ham, til jubileumsåret; prisen for innløsningen skal settes etter årene, som lønnen for en leiekar.

And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubi: and the price of his sa shall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an hired servant shall it be with him.

Hvis det er mange år igjen, skal han gi tilbake andelen av prisen for innløsning, i forhold til årene han var hos ham.

If there be yet many years behind, according unto them he shall give again the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for.

Hvis det er få år igjen til jubileumsåret, skal han gjøre opp med ham, og gi tilbake prisen for innløsningen, i forhold til hans år.

And if there remain but few years unto the year of jubi, then he shall count with him, and according unto his years shall he give him again the price of his redemption.

Som en årlig leiekar skal han være hos ham, og den andre skal ikke herske over ham med hardhet i din nærvær.

And as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not ru with rigour over him in thy sight.

Hvis han ikke blir innløst i disse årene, skal han gå ut i jubileumsåret, han og hans barn med ham.

And if he be not redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubi, both he, and his children with him.

For Israels barn er mine tjenere, de er mine tjenere som jeg førte ut av Egyptens land. Jeg er Herren deres Gud.

For unto me the children of Israel are servants; they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
