Våkn opp, psalter og harpe; jeg vil selv våkne tidlig.

Awake, altery and harp: I myself will awake early.

Jeg vil lovprise deg, Herre, blant folkene, og jeg vil synge lovsanger til deg blant folkeslagene.

I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.

For din barmhjertighet er stor over himmelen, og din sannhet når til skyene.

For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.

Bli opphøyd, Gud, over himmelen, og din ære over hele jorden;

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;

for at dine elskede må bli frelst; redd med din høyre hånd, og svar meg.

That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me.

Gud har talt i sin hellighet; jeg vil glede meg, jeg vil dele ut Sikem og måle opp Sukots dal.

God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

Gilead er mitt, Manasse er mitt, Efraim også er styrken på mitt hode; Juda er min lovgiver;

Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;

Moab er min vaskebøtte; over Edom vil jeg kaste min sko; over Filistia vil jeg seire.

Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.

Hvem vil føre meg inn i den sterke byen? Hvem vil lede meg til Edom?

Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

Vil ikke du, Gud, som har støtt oss bort? Og vil ikke du, Gud, gå med våre hærer?

Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?

Gi oss hjelp fra trengsel, for forgjeves er menneskers hjelp.

Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

Gjennom Gud skal vi gjøre store gjerninger, for det er han som skal tråkke ned våre fiender.

Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
