Gransk meg, Herre, og prøv meg; test mine nyrer og mitt hjerte.

Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

For din godhet er foran mine øyne, og jeg har vandret i din sannhet.

For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.

Jeg har ikke sittet med tomme mennesker, og jeg vil heller ikke gå inn med hyklere.

I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.

Jeg har hatet de ondes forsamling, og jeg vil ikke sitte med de ugudelige.

I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.

Jeg vil vaske mine hender i uskyld, så jeg kan gå rundt ditt alter, Herre,

I will wash mine hands in innocency: so will I compass thine altar, O LORD:

for å forkynne med takkestemmen og fortelle om alle dine underfulle gjerninger.

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.

Herre, jeg har elsket din boligs hjemsted, stedet hvor din ære bor.

LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.

Samle ikke min sjel med syndere, heller ikke mitt liv med blodtørstige menn,

Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:

i hvis hender det er ondskap, og deres høyre hånd er full av bestikkelser.

In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.

Men jeg vil vandre i min uskyld: løs meg ut, og vær nådig mot meg.

But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me.

Min fot står på jevn grunn; i forsamlingene vil jeg velsigne Herren.

My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the LORD.
