He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

Ved Herrens ord ble himlene skapt; og hele deres hær ved hans munns pust.

By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

Han samler havets vann som en haug og lagrer dypet i forrådshus.

He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

La hele jorden frykte Herren; la alle verdens innbyggere ære ham.

Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

For han talte, og det ble gjort; han befalte, og det sto fast.

For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

Herren gjør folkens råd til intet; han gjør menneskers planer til ingen nytte.

The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

Herrens råd står fast for alltid, hans hjertes tanker til alle generasjoner.

The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

Velsignet er det folk som har Herren som sin Gud; det folk han har valgt til sin egen arv.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Herren ser fra himmelen; han ser på alle menneskenes barn.

The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

Fra sin bolig betrakter han alle som bor på jorden.

From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

Han former deres hjerter individuelt; han vurderer all deres gjerning.

He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

Ingen konge frelses ved en stor hær; en mektig mann blir ikke befridd ved stor styrke.

There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

Hesten er et fåfengt håp for sikkerhet; den kan ikke redde noen ved sin store styrke.

An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

Se, Herrens øye er på dem som frykter ham, på dem som setter sin lit til hans nåde;

Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

for å redde deres sjeler fra døden og holde dem i live i hungersnød.

To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

Vår sjel venter på Herren; han er vår hjelp og vårt skjold.

Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.

For våre hjerter skal glede seg i ham, fordi vi har satt vår lit til hans hellige navn.

For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

La din nåde, Herre, være over oss, slik som vi håper på deg.

Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
