To the chief Musician, Al-taschith, A alm or Song of Asaph. Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.

Når jeg mottar menigheten, vil jeg dømme rettferdig.

When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.

Jorden og alle dens innbyggere går i oppløsning: jeg holder den oppe med dens søyler. Selah.

The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.

Jeg sa til dårene: Handle ikke tåpelig; og til de onde: Løft ikke opp hornet.

I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:

Løft ikke hornet høyt: tal ikke med en stiv nakke.

Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.

For opphøyelse kommer verken fra øst, vest eller sør.

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

Men Gud er dommeren: han setter den ene ned og opphøyer den andre.

But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

For i Herrens hånd er det en skål, og vinen er rød; den er full av blandet drikke; og han skjenker av den: men bunnen av skålen skal alle de onde på jorden tømme, og drikke.

For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

Men jeg vil forkynne for alltid; jeg vil synge lovsanger til Jakobs Gud.

But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.

Alle de ondes horn vil jeg også kutte av; men de rettferdiges horn skal bli opphøyd.

All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
